Newly opened restaurant, Kam's roast, has people lining up for nearly 2 hours.
Having been to the original location in Hong Kong recently, I was so excited that our very own Megamall would be roasting some of Asia's best Chinese charcuterie.
Quite disappointingly, Kam's Roast Goose of Hong Kong is going to be called "Kam's Roast" in Manila. The restaurant will not serve roast goose in the Philippines because they could not source a local supplier for goose.
Despite that, we still gave it a chance.
By coming at an odd hour for dinner, at 6pm on a Monday, we arrived to be 7th in line.
We ordered half a roast duck, crispy roasted pork, and "Toro" char siu pork belly.
The crispy roasted pork is very good.
The roasted duck was also good. The duck is meat, although not boneless. And it is also served with the same peanut sauce that they do in Hong Kong. If only the duck was seasoned a bit more generously as it was a bit bland without the sauce.
The "Toro" char sui is quite over cooked. It was not "melts in your mouth" as I had expected it to be.
Overall, Kam's Roast in Manila is probably as good as Asian roasts could get outside Hong Kong, but could still be improved.
