I was complaining about the lack of ethnic foods in the Philippines because everywhere I went it seemed to be Filipino or American food or a fusion of both. Where's Mexican food? Japanese food? Arabic food? Southern food?
Then when the opportunity to get food other than Filipino or American presented itself at the SM Marikina food court (they have Japanese, Middle Eastern, Korean), I still went with Filipino food at Kamay Kainan. Traditional Filipino food. I just knew that when I'm goin goin back back to Cali Cali, I'll hardly get the chance to eat Filipino food.
So my eyes were hungrier than my stomach was like how it usually is and I got fresh lumpia, Kare Kare, ukoy, and rice. Fresh lumpia had a lot of fresh vegetables. But the Kare Kare was hardly peanut buttery. And the ukoy was limp when it should've been crunchy. They also forgot to give me vinegar with the ukoy. read more
