This playground is great! My kids, 2.5 and 4 had a blast! There's the wooden structure (so fun but kind of hard to find your kids running around) and then an incredible inclusive play space right next to it! Love that children of all abilities can have fun together!

Follow the teaching of the 'Olelo Hawai'i. You can fix your mana and restore your pono. Find your peace and promote love.

Hands down the most spectacular playground I've ever taken my children to, or even been myself for that matter.

Came here for the first time with my kids. We were intending to swim at the Lydgate beach located across from this playground, but thanks to the flash flood warning weather, there was actually brown water advisory soooo no thanks. As we were driving outta there, I saw the largest playground that I've ever seen. It was practically larger than some of the homes in Hawaii. Luckily, my kids (11, 14) and I (34) were practically the only ones there other than 2 infant kids. It looks like a castle outta the Harry Potter movies. This playground is so huge, there's a YELP page for it lol. They have all sorts of slides, swings, an infant area, mini zipline-like area, cargo nets, rubber tires, caves, etc. The only issue that I have is it is a bit unsafe due to majority of the playground is wood which means the awful splinters and build up algae making it slippery also. The parking is huge as it's shared with the beach park.

Person who was following kids around and creeping through the playground. Watch your kiddos here like a hawk! Targets 5-7 yo demographic.

Super cool playground, such a gift from the Kauai community to all the restless keiki! But a little skeezy - there was a person milling around that kept following the kids. S/he asked my son to lay down and pull up his shirt, then invited him to join them for roast beef and candy. I think the person was not alright in the head, but molestation is molestation regardless of the perp's mental conditions. Seemed to target kids that were running around on their own, and hassled more than just my kid. Please watch your keiki here, like a hawk!

We brought our 4 year old grandson here while the rest of the family went hiking & waterfall rappelling. What a great decision--he went nuts! He had such a blast exploring this huge playground. This is one of the nicest & largest we've ever seen! It brought so much joy to our hearts to see him so happy! We recommend bringing your keiki here for hours of limitless fun.

Soo cool!!! This place was soo rad, the playground was huge, there was so many ins and outs and slides and benches and donated walls that had tile and games and music and hallways and jungle gyms for bigger kids and smaller kids and a fenced area so they can't get out and run away. I mean it was soo neat, I have never seen a playground like this, so much originality, so much wood instead of plastic, next to the ocean and also resorts on the other side. I mean it was soo fun, we spent so much time here and the kids didn't get bored, which is an instant hit. Worth the visit, would come back for sure!

The coolest playground on all of Kauai. A MUST stop if you're vacationing with adventurous littles.

Loved this playground! We came by after getting Malasadas at Passion Bakery and our toddler loved it! It's HUGE and has so many zones/areas to explore. Made of natural materials and has beautiful art and activities throughout. Great way to entertain kids while in vacation.

Bynum Bridge (2001) on the south end of Lydgate Beach

If the place had better signs or called attention to their onsite maps, I might have found the actual playground. All I saw was Bynum Bridge on the south end of the park which was very cool. That alone would be worth 5 stars if I was just a kid wanting to play. The "bridge" is actually a fortress for kids to run up and down ramps, step through short stairs and open air rooms, and then sliding through tubes to the ground to start again. There are reliefs of animals throughout the fortress, but they have faded since the installation of the bridge in 2001. The actual playground is on the north end of the park, somewhat hidden from view by trees (it took a long time afterwards to find it with Google maps because of the trees). I wasn't sure where to look since none of the other reviews mentioned its location, so I can't update anyone on whether the pieces that were in need of repair had been fixed. Anyway, I love the idea behind the playground (built 1994) and bridge and how they involved the community in the work and planning. Instead of simply throwing money at a lot of generic playground equipment, this place created something unique that lets kids use their own imagination and energy to enjoy it. Too bad the signage seemed a bit confusing. Review #2399

Named after a pillar in the community who came to Kauai in the late 19th century, Lydgate Beach Park is 62 acres, with the Lydgate Park pathway encompassing 2.5 miles, a small part of the much larger Ke Ala Hele Makālae costal trail. There is plenty of parking, with both dedicated surface lots and street parking on the paved road. We immediately noticed surfers on electric surfboards out pretty far, even on this windy day. At the northern part of the park is where most people gather, close to modern facilities and a manned lifeguard station and a large covered event area with plenty of parking. Closer to the shore, we saw a seal just lying on the land, bathing in the sun, completely ignoring the people milling by. The very large safe man-made swimming/tide pools are great for the kekei and others, with constant refreshing of sea water over the lava rocks. There are picnic tables nearby as well with a lot of green space. My favorite feature are the man-made protected swimming pools, What I loved about it was how spread out everything was, with so many amenities. It just never felt crowded, even if a lot more people came. As we were leaving, my wife mentioned that Lydgate Beach is one of those rare parks where an ocean-loving family would intentionally live close by, just to be near this park.

Wailua Falls offered an incredibly close view, which made the experience feel special. I was able to truly appreciate the waterfall's beauty up close. One fun highlight was spotting a rooster sitting right near the edge, which was such a classic Kauaʻi island moment because roosters are everywhere on the island. I also noticed a touching memorial sign dedicated to Kavika Luna, "Mr. Aloha" - The Flying Hawaiian (May 1960 - September 2024). The message spoke about rainbows appearing as he chanted and the magic of Wailua Falls coming alive. It felt meaningful because I actually caught a mini rainbow during my visit, which made the moment even more breathtaking and memorable. Overall, I was very pleased with this stop. Wailua Falls is absolutely worth checking out for its natural beauty and history.

But you can however view it safely from the designated roadside lookout. The parking lot here, although free, is very small and often filled to the brim with cars. The lot itself is also in desperate need of maintenance as it is filled with potholes, so getting in and out may be tricky. There are also vendors who fill up the front part of this lot, which further add to the chaos. Located in a sacred royal valley once known as the capital of Kauai, ancient Hawaiian chieftains and warriors use to test their bravery by leaping from the top of this nearly 200ft tall waterfall. There's not a lot to do once you get up to the top of the lookout except to snap a few photos. So it is debatable if it is worth the drive all the way out to here and dealing with the whole parking lot situation.
