I've been to kalimera on a few occasions. We had some friends host a birthday and rent out the entire restaurant and I thought the food was very good. Went back another time with my family and again had a good experience. I took a family friend yesterday after not having been in about six months and raving to her about the food. To say it was such a disappointment falls short. The first impression was the table was sticky. There was just one server for the entire place which wasn't packed so we didn't think anything of it. We placed our orders and awaited. When we got our food all went down hill. Everything we ordered was raw and undercooked. I had to call over the server to let him know I'm 23 weeks pregnant and cannot consume raw food. My Kebab como lamb was raw and my friend's lamb chops were also entirely raw not to add completely unseasoned. Here is the most bizarre part, the server took a plate from another tables setting and told us to place all the raw meat on the plate he handed the plate to a server assistant and told him (in front of us) to take it to the kitchen and cook it longer. I advised him I no longer wanted the food that he did not have to bring mine back. Five minutes later the server assistant brought back the same plate with both our meats on it all over one another and said here you go. Speechless, we were charged for the entire meal given that he thought having it cooked longer was the solution. Sad to say they lost a customer and another potential one. read more

We are in Southern Miami/Florida for vacation. We dined here twice. The hummus is the best we've ever had. The tabulah is amazing. You can tell everything is house made with great care and respect for the ingredients. On our return trip we had the hummus a second time and the Greek salad and chicken schwarma platter. Another hidden gem in Sunset! I visited this restaurant for dinner with my wife last Friday since we were in the mood for a quick bite of food. I made the reservation with OpenTable and drove to the place from home. Kalimera is located on 71st St. There is plenty of parking near that you can choose from (make sure you have the PayByPhone app installed to make it even easier). We were greeted by Khaled who ushered us to our table, he gave his recommendations and brought us drinks. We decided to order the Kalimera Trio as the appetizer, we shared the grilled lamb, and the Kabab combo beef. This is probably one of the best Lebanese places I've been to. To start off with the Kibe was extremely flavorful, and the meat was tasty. Followed with the Fatoush salad that was extremely fresh and was garnished with delicious spices. We then tried the hummus with lamb, outstanding. The meat was soft and extremely flavorful. We were then presented with complementary baklava for dessert from the owner. The Lebanese beers that I tried were very good. All in all the service was amazing and the food was outstanding. I don't know why it took me so long to try this place but I'm so glad I came! My friend told me it was amazing so I had to see for myself. The spanakopita was so delicious and lemony. The hummus wasn't bad just not my favorite but the labneh was . I had lamb kebab and my boyfriend had the traditional beef kebab. He's not a fan of lamb but he said my entree was better (so that says a lot about how good the lamb is). Friday nights are typically a day of rest for me, but sometimes I give in to friendly get togethers that involve food & catching up with my groups of various goddesses. One of my friends suggested going to Kalimera Greek and Lebonese Testaurant. I've never been to a Lebanese/Greek restaurant, LET'S CHECK IT OUR!! (Heads up, the parking is a little complex). To begin, I wasn't impressed with the colorful, yet messy outdoor lights, but you will definitely know you've arrived. The exterior did not match the designed, open & peaceful interior, AND A HUGE PLUS, what a nice experience to be able to hold a conversation in a South Miami eatery on a Friday night! FYI, my pet peeve while dining is EXTREMELY loud music and having to scream through a conversation. At first, I was also disappointed with our waiter and the customer service. (Anyone that knows me, knows I'm picky AF AND I customize my orders) I felt our waiter was too assertive with his ways and did not allow me right to modify, but I called him back and he was more accommodating. And once the food arrived, it did not disappoint! My Tiropita and Shrimp skewers were delish! I am always looking for good Greek food. So when I saw this sign go up I was excited. I am still hoping they can turn it around. The food was pretty good. The standouts for me were the Fatoush Salad and the Kalimera Trio Dips. The salad was crispy and lemony and refreshing. All 3 of the dips were delicious. The falafel was pretty tasty too. On the not-so-great side was the Spanakopita. It was two small empanadas. There was no flaky phyllo dough and for the price, I expected more. On the bad side... that sad bowl of Mjaddarah. I couldn't place the taste but there was some spice in there that I have never had in this dish before. And to put it plainly, it was off-putting. That was a disappointment. I know it is a new place so I want to give them a chance to get everything in order. However, while we dined there was way too much commotion in the back of the house that auditorily spilled out into the restaurant. That should not happen. And considering they are part of LA Pizza next door they should know better. If you like Greek food give them a try. read more

We've had the grilled octopus, Greek salad, rice with lentils, lamb chops, lamb kabobs, mixed kabob, and the hummus! Loved every bite and it now one of our faves! The hummus was tasty, and the spanakopita was more like a spinach empanada than the spanakopita a lot of people are used to. I recently tried this place and thought it was really good. My husband and I shared the trio and tabbouleh to start. As the main, we ordered the beef and lamb souvlaki. They were both served with rice, grilled peppers, and onions. The meats were flavorful and perfectly tender. The food arrived quickly, but the service after was on the slow side. I have to recommend Kalimera after going for dinner for the first time. It was an unexpected delight to find tucked away just off US1 in South Miami. The food is fresh and delicious, very nicely seasoned. It's a pleasant space indoors or out because of the setback of the restaurant from the road and the excellent enclosure of the outdoor space with plantings between the patio and the street. The ambience was really nice, which is why the awful service and gross, microwaved, grape leaves were so surprising, and disappointing. At $35 for 9 pieces kabob, 2 raw peppers and 2 raw onion quarters with char on them, and a 1/2 cup of rice, this place is not only expensive, it is criminally overrated, as well. Not once did a server ask if we wanted water, or ask how the food was, or offer dessert. The "server" or manager, or whoever he was, became visibly agitated when we said we needed more time after having been seated for all of 2 minutes, and we had to request water after it was clear he would not give us any or ask if we wanted any. I was really looking forward to some good Greek and Lebanese food, but this was not it. The "spanakopita" was not made of filo dough, but rather, resembled a cuban style empanada, in both look and taste. This was the laziest, least tasty greek/Lebanese food I've ever had, though the beef kabob was nice, despite being exorbitantly priced. I've had better Lebanese cooking from a food truck in manhattan, and for a quarter of the price. Skip this restaurant, it's for suckers. read more

We started with The Greek salad and falafel both were delicious. The combo lamb and chicken was wonderful. The lamb was cooked perfectly! It comes with rice and roasted tomatoes, green pepper and onions. I wish the onions were roasted more to my taste. The only problem is they are short staffed so expect waiting for someone to take your order but the food was very good. The owner also runs the pizza business next door. Let start by saying I am Greek. And they do no have Greek Food. The food they have is old and stale. I am giving it one start because I cannot give it negative starts. I ordered spanakopitas got Costco Spinash empanadas; order lamb and got beef; order Mousaka and got a eggplant paste; ordered Baklaba and got a dry peace of Baklava that seemed to be a month old. It wasn't just bad food, it was fraud. I confronted the manager with these issues and he lied about each one. If you go, go at your own risk. I paid the bill, will never go back, and hope to forget such a bad experience. read more
