Five stars because there can never be enough newcomers to the still-growing organic grocery scene…read morein Brussels. Belgomarkt provides a good variety of local/artisanal/organic ingredients, and top-notch quality for the money. Great selection of artisanal breads, organic cheeses, bulk grains and flours, and even pastas. Really nice meats. Today I was pleasantly surprised to see confit duck legs! At less than 4 euro, that's a bargain I could not resist. Also picked up some fresh terrine and duck rillettes, inexpensive and far better quality than what you find at the local supermarket (if you can find those products at all--usually not). My only frustration is that some of the fresh produce at Belgomarkt could be fresher. At my last visit, a few weeks ago, they have a nice selection of several varieties of organic apples. Today, only one kind, and you could tell they had been stored at room temperature and were past prime. (Management take note: Apples should be kept in the cooler at night, to keep them from off-gassing and ripening prematurely!) The leeks and dinosaur kale were also not fresh enough to buy. But these are easy problems to fix, if you train your staff and have adequate cold storage space. I will keep shopping here for the delicious local meats, cheeses and breads, and the occasional fresh veg. If Belgomarkt can pay more attention to keeping the fresh offerings truly fresh, I have a feeling they will attract even more fans!

The place is good. The location is good. The inside and price are very well. But the service OMG…read more You never know when paying if you will get the correct amount, a smile and thank you from the ladies. Why as you do self-service not doing a self-pay? Or change some of your staff.

Yorkshire tea saved it from getting two stars. But is it 'The Destination' for your culinary needs? I bloody hope not. It was much the same size as our local Carrefour, with not much of a better selection. Yes the stuff maybe of a more 'gourmet' level. Yet it's much the same stuff. The wine... huge disappointment. There really is a better selection at any grocery store. Yes they had a few bottles of great wines, but with the boasting on their website. One would expect aisle upon aisle of choice. Not half an aisle. I'd go back for the niche item. Regular grocery shopping? Not on your nelly!

Wow! Truly a gourmet produce shopping experience that you get to experience here. And yes, it is…read moreabsolutely a hit to the wallet too, so be prepared. If you are from the US, think Whole Foods, but way more upmarket - almost maybe a better comparison would be Dean & DeLuca, cause similar to them, a lot of the food and drink here is curated as well. Case in point, the guys at the grocery store knew so much about produce I had never even seen before - a yellow dragonfruit! Crickets - chocolate covered and plain and in a dip! Chinese rhubarb! Citron Caviar!! BTW, that last one was a product of USA and I didn't even know that the US was a producer of this food item, let alone what the thing was! I was really super lucky that another Yelper, Hubert E. was accompanying us on our voyage of discovery around Rob's as he knew where the best stuff was kept, and since he is a local, was really helpful in explaining some food items that mum and I could not figure out what they were. Best of all, we ended up going on a day that a whole number of producers were showcasing their goods and so I tasted beautiful salmon (I don't know how I can ever buy Salmon from anywhere else again) to 4 different kinds of bee pollen, exquisite black truffle biscuits and amazing wine from the south of France. Yeah, totally can't wait to go back - next on my list, beside shopping of course, is to go eat at their restaurant upstairs!
