First, I chose Kal Tire because of the high rating reviews.
Unfortunately I had a bad experience, I want to share it so the same problematic would not happen to you reading this.
I bought 4 new tires on line from Kal Tire web site.
The day I got the installation done, the person at the front desk was helpful, I even got a ride to work while working on my vehicle.
Now, when I picked up my vehicle, I was told my wheel lock nuts were not good anymore so they had to replaced the 4 with regular nuts.
I paid and left.
I went for a spin to check the balancing and everything was to my expectation.
When I took a good look at my wheels, I realized 3 of them, the balancing weights were installed on the outside of the wheel instead of the inside. To me this was not acceptable to see the balancing weights when looking at my wheels.
I looked at my invoice and realized, I have been invoiced for 4 new nuts, knowing my lock nuts got damage during removing.
So I phoned Kal Tire, and explained the situation.
First thing I was told by the clerk, you never mentioned to us you wanted the balancing weights on the inside of the wheels. Right away I was blamed, not what I expected after spending over $1300.00
Anyway, the clerk said to drop in the next day.
Now when I got there, the reception was not pleasant at all.
The clerk told me, don't worry about your locking nuts, you would get your vehicle stolen before your wheels, this was not the answer I was expecting, also he gave me the cold shoulder, I will not elaborate on that. I was invoiced for something they broke (lock nuts).
Note: Same thing happened to a co-worker of mine, the difference with me, he was not invoiced for it
My advise, if you have lock nuts on your vehicle, loosen them a bit before getting them removed. Note the wheel balancing was corrected to my satisfaction. I still paid for something I should have not. (4 wheel nuts). read more
