Negitoro bowl

Kaisen Sushi HTX takes takeout sushi to the next level. Seriously some of the best sushi I've had in Houston in terms of quality. This ghost kitchen concept is to go only for pickup or delivery through Uber Eats/Doordash. Regardless of not having an actual brick n mortar, the sushi here is no joke. They are literally flying in fresh fish from Japan daily. I've been following them on social media for a minute, but yesterday was the first time I finally tried them out. I ordered their negitoro bowl and tried their 8pc bluefin tuna nigiri. The tuna quality here is INSANELY GOOD! Probably the best tuna I've had since I was last in Japan this year. And don't sleep on their dashi broth that comes with every order, this broth soothes your soul. Be sure to follow Kaisen Sushi HTX on social media. The chef is really big on IG and Tiktok. What I appreciate the most is how transparent they are about their business and their commitment to high quality sushi. They literally closed early the other day because the newer guy made a bad batch of sushi rice and they didn't want to compromise quality by serving that to their customers. These guys really know what they are doing, and I would support their business 1000%. You won't regret trying them out, enjoy!

It's official! After a few visits (5 now?), this is my go to sushi place! For the ones that don't need an exclusive sit-in, service experience, who are ok to pick up a bag and go, who will not interact with anyone besides a tablet to checkout the order, this ghost kitchen concept fits the bill! I've been watching this place growing on Instagram from the first couple of months, where you can follow and witness Owner and Chef Sunny growing. You must follow his account KaizenHTX to verify the place's activity, which is great but could be seen as an annoyance for others. Starting with his social media stories, Owner Sunny will keep you updated of the latest: from ultra busy to slower day which leads to accepting orders to paying them and their BOGO / 50% deals. I believe social media plays an important time nowadays. Is the business opened? How's it going? Is Google showing the accurate opening hours info? Many businesses lack in this update practice and this place uses Instagram to mitigate and communicate. So, very important: check his page before ordering! A lot of times, we get to follow his fish deliveries updates, watch him and his team cut the fish. Sometimes, we get insights at the wins and struggles of the food industry, which is challenging to make profits and balancing with personnel and basic expenses to run a place! I recommend to plan for a 45 minute order wait. In most times, they deliver quicker than planned. Yesterday, I was able to pick up within 20min. The food is fresh. The fish cut is generous. I'm cautious of ghost kitchens but after several orders, I world like to attest that I've received consistent experiences! Each order is served with a dashing broth and chopsticks, packed in a customized thermo bag. One funny order, they included three broths and three pairs of chopsticks, based on the orders.... But really it was (only) for two people! Lololol Upon pickup, you can choose to enjoy it at home or consume right away in the same space where they have a few tables, like a food hall! So really, a bit like serve yourself and enjoy on the spot without service. And I'm totally fine with this idea! Parking is large as this place is shared with several other ghost kitchens (pizzas, tacos, chinese, etc). About the promotions, they are very generous today. 50% off when you order on Uber eats and BOGO from doordash. I think Sunny is looking to reach the maximum of be customers and aims for a returning clientèle. On my side, I am quite convinced! Support local, small businesses. Sunny is really looking to excel and succeed. He also takes reviews seriously. It's hard work. I'm here for it. 10000% recommend!

I wanted to like this place more than I did, but for to-go sushi it was still really good! We got the Big Back Blue Fin Tuna, Bento Set A and Sake Crudo. First impression was that the sake crudo was smaller than I thought it would be, but it still looked great! We loved the tuna combo, minus the do-it-yourself handroll, it tasted good, but we didn't know we were doing so we made a mess unpackaging it. The bento set and sake crudo were good, but one piece of fish was really tough to bite though. I would definitely order the tuna combo again, but I'd try other things on the menu before ordering the other two options. Overall, it was great quality fish and the pickup situation is really easy. I would recommend giving it a try.

I loved trying this sushi. I found Kaisen on TikTok, and decided to try it out. I ordered the girl dinner, salmon nigiri, and the California rolls. This establishment is only available for pick up as it is a ghost kitchen btw. My favorite was probably the California rolls! They were HUGEEEE. The hosomaki was delicious too! For all of the nigiri, the fish was a little too thick for me... and a little hard to chew. I would definitely try this place again for the California rolls

High-End Sushi: To-Go Edition The sushi here was super fresh and high quality. Although I only ordered a poke bowl, the quality had me mind blown. This was hands down the highest quality poke bowl I've ever had. It was so good that I wish the portion was bigger lol. Highly reccomend the Chef Shogo's Japanese Hamachi & Yellowfin Tuna Poke Bowl. Keep in mind that this is not your typical brick and mortar restaurant. Kaisen is one of the many restaurants availble at Blodgett Food Hall, which is primarily to-go orders. I reccomend you order online on their website, then head there to pick up your food. You can always order when you get there, but skip the wait and order ahead. There are also a few tables availble inside if you can't wait to get home to eat. The menu at Kaisen changes day-to-day depending on their inventory. Make sure to peep their social media to stay updated on the menu, limited time offerings, and specials. I initally found Kaisen online via social media and immediately knew that I had to give it a try. The owner, Sunny, documents his experiences, difficulties, successes, basically the nitty gritty of the business on his TikTok. His commitment to quality and transparency is what moved me to try Kaisen. Overall, really solid spot if you enjoy high-end sushi.

Omakase and Salmon/Tuna Combo

Alright. this place is like a 'ghost' kitchen where you can only order on uber eats, and you head over to a shady food hall where you pick up the food from a locker and you don't see a single staff member. Nonetheless, extremely fresh sushi for the price (they have basically an evergreen 50% off on uber). Rumor has it, they are importing their fish fresh from Japan. My wife believes this is the best salmon and tuna sashimi she's had all year in Houston! Advice to the owner - add some ice to your packaging, especially if you are a to-go only establishment and you are serving raw fish. Even a scoop of ice cubes in a plastic bag would be better than nothing c'mon. Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? Yes, but to-go only Would I Return? Yes Food Taste- 10/10 Ambiance - NA Service - NA Value- 9/10

I stumbled across Kaisen Sushi HTX from social media and didn't realize the owner of Kaisen is also the chef from Seiwa Market. He opened up his own little stand in Blodgett Food Hall. FYI, their website is still under construction. They usually open from 4-9pm~ check their instagram page! I had to message them on instagram to get more info before ordering. Turns out its cheaper (duh) to order at Blodgett vs Uber Eats, DoorDash or Grubhub. I ventured out to Blodgett Food Hall and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. Its busy, people come and go, they're dining in for a quick bite (but not staying too long), its your regular food hall. I even witnessed a guy arguing with an owner over not getting all over their food. And she wasn't having it. LOL You order at the Kiosk and get a text when your food is ready. There's also TV's to show all of orders being made from every stall. I waited about 35 min from start to finish. Once you get a text, you go over to the locker and push a button on your phone to get your food. I ended up getting the Girl Dinner and 8 Piece Salmon Nigiri. Girl Dinner - 8 pieces of bluefin tuna and scottish salmon - small portion of chicken teriyaki - daily fresh broth - Kaisen Cali Roll (japanese style where you separate the seaweed for freshness and roll it) From the freshness of the Salmon nigiri, lemon zest, roe, to the crispiness of the seaweed, and the fresh rolls, is so worth the price. Also Girl Dinner is the best bang for your buck! You can't beat $20 of treat yo self.

Chef choice hosomaki special

This place deserves all the hype and love! I've been following Kaisen on social media and am so happy to have finally tried the sushi. For my first time, I decided to go with the 8 piece standard nigiri set. Every piece was exceptional- it is so clear that the fish is fresh and the flavor of each piece is distinctly unique. The attention to detail is incredible, from the way the fish is cut to the little lemon zest on top. The rice itself is also delicious. The nigiri is the perfect temperature as well. The chefs choice hosomaki special is such a great way to reduce waste as it uses pieces of fish that didn't fit in other sets. It tased great. And this was reasonably priced! Would love to try more things! Please do support this place- Chef Sunny deserves all the praise and success!

I've been following Kaisen Sushi for a while now and finally had the opportunity to check them out tonight. I was in for an unexpected treat when I met Sunny, the owner of Kaisen Sushi. I was truly speechless at his kindness and hospitality, it was such a pleasure to meet him and be given the opportunity to try some of his recommendations. Order: - Bluefin Nigiri "Girl Dinner" - Hamachi Nigiri - Buri Nigiri - 4-piece Chef's Choice I can confidently say that every single item was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. The unique garnishes on each piece truly put the cherry on top. The underdog of the night was their homemade dashi broth, absolutely outstanding. I cannot wait to come back. This is by far one of the best sushi spots I've been to, offering top-quality fish at great prices!

One of the best take out sushi experiences I have ever had. Been following Kaisen sushi on IG for some time, and really appreciate the owners attention to detail and overall transparent approach to running his business. Finally had the opportunity to try it out myself today and was honestly exactly what I expected. Intentional. Fresh. And reasonably priced. Everything from the packaging to the food itself was perfect. A must try!! Cheering for y'all!

Ordered Kaisen again on a busy weekend night and I wanted to write an update to capture the experience after one of Chef Sunny's tiktoks went viral. Since Kaisen has been a lot busier there is an understandable wait time often associated with ordering and frequent pauses to their online ordering platforms. If you are able to order, I would definitely go for it. My previous review brought up two items of concern that have both been addressed and our food this time has exceeded our expectations. One of the complaints that we had last time was that the sushi rice was undercooked to the point of some rice grains still being crunchy. I am happy to report that my most recent order from Kaisen featured some of the best, if not the absolute best, sushi rice I have in Houston to date. The other complaint that I had during my previous visit was a good amount of sinew in the pieces of fish we received. I am glad to report that all of the fish we received were fresh and tender. We ordered BOGO from Doordash (FYI the prices on Doordash and UberEats are 2x what you would pay if you were to order directly from Blodgett Food Hall website, so you're not actually getting much of a discount) and got 2 standard nigiri sets and 2 premium nigiri sets. In the standard nigiri sets we received 2 pieces each of smoked scottish salmon, lean bluefin tuna (akami), striped jack (shima aji), and sea bream (madai). In the premium nigiri sets we received the same salmon and sea bream pieces accompanied with whole scallops topped with caviar and torched fatty tuna topped with caviar. All of the fish at Kaisen is extremely high quality and probably some of the best you will get in the city. I enjoyed the shima aji and lean tuna the most of all of the pieces, but the fatty tuna and scallop were decadent and very, very close seconds. I personally could not taste much of the caviar and honestly the caviar got a bit lost in my mouth when I ate the piece of nigiri, but perhaps my palate is not refined enough to catch the subtle salinity and oceanic flavor that caviar would add. The sea bream pieces were great too--its firm texture and light and subtly sweet flavor is indicative of its quality. The smoked salmon, while also very good, was not my personal favorite. Thanks Chef Sunny and team for working so hard!

Kaisen is a ghost kitchen located inside a food hall order your food for pick up or on door dash or Uber Eats great location easy to pick up food walk in check in at the kiosk and the locker with your order will open . Ambiance walk in traffic nothing major. Service self service so quick if you pick up . They offer great sushi everything is worth the price they run great deals on uber and DoorDash so I got all of them for about $30 a hour before they close . If you are a sushi lover I highly recommend you try out Kaisen. The bento is a great choice the kaisen cali roll is big and definitely try the 4 piece Akami Lean Bluefin Nigiri . Highly recommended pick up so try it out .

There's a lot of heart in this business. I heard about this through their Tik Tok. I got the lunch bento set which comes with some nigiri, sashimi, and a California roll. It was delicious. Prices are pretty steep but he pays his sushi chefs well, gets good quality fish, and puts a lot of thoughtfulness into the packaging to keep the experience feeling premium despite being at a take out food hall. I really hope this business prospers!!

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

I ordered "The Convention" breakfast which was "Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes and Buttermilk Biscuits" - it came with literally 20 tiny sausage patties and biscuits total. So one tiny sausage and biscuit per person. I didn't count the bacon but it was a similarly stingy portion. No one had more than two pieces. The eggs were bland. The potatoes were actually good. But overall, it was so embarrassing to have the food show up and it be these tiny trays of hardly any food for over $400. I would have been better off ordering individual dishes for each person from a local restaurant. I thought with the high Yelp and Google reviews I saw, this would be a safe bet! I also ordered a 20 mini pastries for $3.25 each which were like pastries you get at a 7/11. At least if you are overcharging, let the food be good and not like you unwrapped pastries from a Costco haul. Worst of all was the coffee which was watered down and disgusting. Everyone threw theirs out so I just dumped it. What an utter waste of money. Also they only sent 8 cups with the coffee even though the breakfast was for 20. Stingy and bland all around. If you are catering for a small group, please save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and just order takeout from a local restaurant. I wish I took pictures of the spread but I was just too upset. All I took was the coffee which you can tell even from the picture was watery. ***The menu listed the items but didn't say only 1, 1oz piece of bacon per person - that's absolutely absurd for a normal breakfast portion. I loved the food and munched on it like a starving kitten. Pandemic hits and it severely limits my ability to go to places, but I still had the old flyer. I called the order in ahead and ordered a shrimp poboy for myself, a fish one for my husband and a chicken pasta for my mother. First things first, as its technically a catering company and due to restrictions with dine in service in Fort Bend County, I don't know if the inside will ever be meant for dining service. It seems it's meant mostly for pick up, but on the other hand restaurants are operating differently with the pandemic, so I can't say for sure. Now the food. Portions are huge. Our poboys were large enough that we split them to taste the other person's meal. I felt they were some of the best poboys, I've had. Probably the only better ones are the ones from New Orleans and that's high praise as it's New Orleans influenced dining. If you want to know, I think the fried fish poboy slightly edged out the shrimp poboy. I felt the taste of the shrimp at times got lost, whereas the fish poboy and all of the other components were balanced. However, it's such a slight difference in terms of taste, that you're not losing out if you're eating the shrimp poboy. But if you are eating with someone and they don't mind sharing, I do recommend swapping half your poboy. For my mother's meal, as a picky old lady, she was content, and that's rare. It was a lot of food, it came with vegetables and corn bread. She ate it and didn't complain. To me that's high praise. The only real "knock" as that while the bread pudding is good, I know you can get better bread pudding elsewhere. Also, as it seems to be a start up business, drink options are also limited. However, I think with time there will be more drink options/ As for the bread pudding, people are either going to agree with me or not. It's still good, but I don't think that's the highlight of this caterer/restaurant. The main dishes are what makes this place unique and I'd come here for those dishes or consider this place for events like weddings and bigger parties. The food is good enough to make everyone happy and if it's for a wedding or birthday party it's not like you'll need their dessert as wedding/birthday cakes tend to be ordered at bakeries. Definitely try it, and send me a note if you agree.
