After reading this, I should attend the upcoming PTA meeting. Weekly as parents, our son get a homework assignment sheets. For us Navy folk, very similar to the POW for homework. There is also a monthly reminder/upcoming events sheet. I like this idea cause it helps me plan for events I would like to attend, in this case the last Ohana Fair. This event is an annual fair held on school grounds. It's a great time for kids and for parents to socialize with other parents. The teachers are out and about but mostly concentrating on running the booth. You don't come here for the food, you come for the stories and smiles. TIP: If you go to the annual Fair, parking is limited. Walk or ride a bike to the place. And if you drive, slow down for the small keikis because we know they like to run out between parked cars. Thank a teacher except the ones that teach CORE math?!?!? They confuse the hell out of me. 2+2=4 people!! Lastly if a teacher is reading this, thank you and stop looking for grammar errors. M

Although parking lot is one-way, it provides good (and safer) traffic flow and less school congestion. A/C buildings (except cafeteria), ample industrial bike racks in different areas, water fountain with bottle-filling station, all aspects of the school are very clean and well-maintained. I have zero complaints about their education system either. My son hasn't struggled (to the point of exhaustion) and fight me on homework. His teacher is always available to provide extra help should he need it. Lots of field trips allows students to gain knowledge outside of school property and create more fun memories. Very, VERY happy parent here! Mahalo to all faculties of this school for always providing excellency!

Some mornings when I am out walking, I even see their cars on campus. Knowing they probably have their own children to attend too and still manage the learning of multiple students is impressive and worth recognition! Even their communication with parents is consistent. Every time I have had to contact them, they respond promptly and in a timely manner. I would have left four stars, but the poor kids go without air conditioning. First, my child has been coming here for four years, and this makes year five. I've eaten breakfast probably four times over time, and it's pretty bad. I had some type of breakfast burrito and it had some yellow gooey egg creation....sorry, it was horrible. Another time I had a cinnamon roll that was dry as a desert....again, horrible. I know school isn't really about what is served for breakfast, but there is room for improvement. There are probably many items served that are great for the kids I'm not aware of. I haven't eaten their lunch, so I cannot comment. The classrooms are roomy with a private bathroom in "some" of the classes, not all. I think there is one made available for the lower grades. I haven't had any real problems with the teachers so far. In fact, my child has had really good teachers...we'll keep our fingers crossed! I would like to see more physical fitness or organized activities at recess. Kids are stuck with tons of homework every day, so they are limited on time they spend doing things to keep them healthy and fit. There are a lot of fund raisers, which I would highly support if I knew where the money was being spent. Sure, a letter comes out from the Principle saying the many areas money "can" be spent with the funds raised, but each fundraiser should be very specific on what it is focused on....a field trip, continuing education for teaches, a scholarship for a Campbell High School Student(which I don't agree with), or maybe school supplies. I know the school raises thousands of dollars on fundraising, and I don't like the idea that all of that money simply goes into a "pot" to use at their discretion. Transparency is a good thing!!! The appearance of the school needs some improvement. Get a new fence on the front of the school and clear out all of those weeds and stuff. The fence looks dilapidated and old. Get a new school sign...that one looks like it was from 1950 or something. The grassy area under all the trees (toward Ft. Weaver Road) could be made into parking lot, because Parents DO NOT have many options for parking at the school. Why don't we do a fundraiser for that project??? I'm sure it would garner much support!! None of these comments are meant to sound rude or disrespectful; they are simply suggestions I hope get heard. I really like the school's new website. It's full of useful information and has a cool look!!! Great job!!! My child seems happy attending this school, so that is important. It's not like parents get a real choice of where their child gets to place thir child anyway right? It's based on zoning or where you live.

Mostly, I wanted my kids to have a strong foundation in reading, writing, and the basics, and by the end of kindergarten they were reading fluently. They are writing more and more, and I like that the teachers actually take the time to correct their grammar as well, even at a young age. It's important to me that they won't get sent back a grade if we move back to the mainland. Luckily, I don't think they will! OLPH isn't the most high-tech school in the world, but they do have computer classes. They also offer Spanish classes, karate, basketball, and volleyball, plus a range of other things. Each year, kids can compete in the science fair and spelling bee. From the different school events I've attended, it seems that there is good student morale from all the kids, grades K-8. I feel like the teachers and staff are very dedicated to their students, and they expect involvement from the parents as well. The day-to-day administration is very meticulous and the school is well organized over all. They are strict with behavior but it leads to good self-discipline for the kids, and it's a very loving environment. The before and after care held at the school is convenient for working parents, and the cost of tuition plus the extended care is about what I was paying at Kama'aina kids, so the transition wasn't too bad at all. Ever since Covid now even four years after Covid, there's a huge disconnect between teachers and parents with the inclusion of staff members. The school used to be fun and engaging. parents use too engage and talk to the school employees while taking their children to school, but now, four years after Covid, you are unable to get on school grounds to walk to take your child to class. The only time you meet your childs teacher is for five minutes before the start of the school year, they will only encourage you to use an app to communicate with the teacher, but then will encourage you to set up a meeting with the teacher if there is a concern you have.. there seems to be only 1 staff member that handles any events or coordinations for anything, which is not enough to handle a whole entire school. It's very sad the lack of effort with the office staff members within that school, the website and Facebook page shows it compared to the other schools in the same district also other schools that are in the area has allowed parents to communicate with the staff members and teachers on the regular basis and opened up the school. Now, I understand the safety of the children's well-being, not allowing people within the schools however, if they had volunteers like they used to or staff members that actually patrolled the halls there wouldn't be an issue for safety: there is nothing fun about this school anymore, which is extremely sad. We have chosen to pull our child out of the school. The school is very far behind in regards to technology. No communication is ran on a text system; if an issue happened at school you might receive a email a day or two later. If the school is closed for a water main break you won't know until you arrive at the school. Other nearby schools has a system wide text system. But Iroquois is very old school and sees no issues within their grounds or the way they handle things, but the teacher turnover rate is also very high at this school because of this very reason.

We were attracted to this school for these reasons: *100% of the high school graduates received scholarships to colleges. Mostly for academics and swim. *Smaller classroom sizes - to give each child the attention they may need *Longer school hours - we're both working parents and don't need to deal with the stress of after school care * No homework- this is what the longer school days are for and because quality family time is so important after a long day at school/work *Performing arts - starts from kindergarten to work on their confidence, self esteem and public speaking skills *Dedicated and passionate teachers and staff- positive teachers makes for positive early imprinting *Amazing swim program and it just goes on and on! All three of our children are thriving academically and socially. They are all very active on the competitive swim team, hula, ballet, martial arts and voice lessons, all offered at school! I grew up attending a school with about 25-30 students in a classroom so I know what it's like, and I didn't like it. The smaller class sizes is the perfect fit for what we're looking for. A more customizable education tailored for each child's potential. Seeing how much talent has been produced from this small school makes me hold ARA up on a pedestal. We want to give our kids the best opportunity and ARA offers all we can ask for. If you are considering this school for your child, I recommend giving them a call. We're so happy we did!

He finished the year not only testing at his grade level for Math, but excelling and surpassing his grade level in other subjects. Our son is now a High School Junior at Corvid Academy. He is on his way to graduating next year! Not only has he been able to excel in his studies, he also has the opportunity to gain public speaking, power point presentations and teaching skills. The highlight of his experience at Corvid Academy has been his participation in the amazing yearly Theater Productions. Being placed in that school was probably the best thing that my parents could have done for me. I'm not gonna lie and say that going to that school was a perfect experience, because it wasn't. When I first started, I was supposed to be placed in 5th grade, but due to low testing scores was placed a year back. I had a terrible problem with math first coming Corvid. I was a 4th grader who couldn't do simple subtraction, but through numerous one-on-one time with Mr. Johnathan (a teacher at the time) and Mrs. Sofa, I eventually got the hang of it. They took my strength, reading comprehension, and wrote out instructions on how to do it for me to read it and I got it! They then began to do this for each of my math difficulties. I stayed there for the rest of my grades and slowly but surely got caught back up. It was not easy, there were times when I fell behind and thought that I should just give up, but I can guarantee tell you that the teachers do NOT give up on you. No matter how difficult you may be. There were times where I wasn't a good student and I did some things, but they never turned their back on me. Mrs. Sofa cares so much about her students and she wants to see each and every one succeed, even hard-headed students like myself. I believe that I was a junior in High school when Mrs. Sofa and I had a personal talk about what I should do after High School. She suggested that since I wasn't as strong in Math, that I should become an English teacher. She was always telling me how good I was with my English skills and comprehension, so I really took that to heart. She was not the only one who really made an impact on me. Mrs. Shannon also did. She's like a big sister (or even a mom) to me. She's always be there for me to talk to when I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone. She was always there to make sure that I was on track to graduating and when I fell behind she made sure to get me caught up. She made countless schedules and made sure I kept up with them and helped me with the hard lessons. She's also the very one who brought musical theater into my life. She really believed in me and cast me as "Anita" in the production of "West Side Story", "Rizzo" in "Grease", and even the lead of Peter Pan in "Disney Enchanted Dreams." She worked constantly with me on each role. From rolling my r's to becoming more young-boy-like, she was there constantly helping me to perfect my singing and acting. Then there was also Ms. Mary, she's the High School TA, I have to give her props. She's always their making sure we know what we have to be on, and she's always updating our weekly lists so that we don't get behind. Even if we do get behind, she's always there to help make a list to get us back on track. She's aIso an amazing confidant to talk to. I've had a lot of talks and vents with her, and she gives amazing advice that I always take to heart. I will forever be grateful for everything that Corvid has done for me and I will never forget the memories that I made here. I'm currently at Leeward Community College and getting my associates in Secondary Teaching. I hope to transfer to a 4-year-college after my 2 years. I sometimes come by to help out with the kids to get volunteer hours for a college class, and I hope to do more in the future. I like to think of it as giving back to the school for all those years. I don't think I could ever really leave the school, the teachers and faculty have really become like family to me. I credit where I am today to Corvid Academy.

I want to start off with how happy we are that our son attends HTA. It was a great choice and big win. We have older children who go to multiple schools and HTA by far has won us over. The atmosphere and the attention that our son received in school is by far the greatest. The one on one with the student and teacher ratio works out great our kindergartener has excelled in so many ways. He's about to move on to first grade and he already can read books and tell time not only digital time but the wall clock which I remember only learning in the 3rd grade back in the day. He is also able to identify the currency (worth of each coin and what each coin is called) We do noticed a BIG difference in our son's confidence level and not being afraid to speak up and present his animal research to his fellow classmates. The teachers and staff are all so supportive and they are always so kind. They know every child just about by name which is great because they can identify each child's presence which is valuable and also for safety reasons. They also address any concerns or issues right away with the child and parents/ guardians. HTA has great staff who is able to provide support to the children and parents/ guardians. We are thankful that we are able to join our son on his class Field Studies. It is a true blessing to be able to have this experience to be able to understand what our child is learning on a daily basis. They have weekly agendas which keeps us organized and on schedule. We hope you enjoyed our first year experience review with HTA. Having a kind and supportive team makes a GREAT difference! So be nice to the staff members they deserve the Best!!
