Best healthy choice restaurant in the CBD (central business district)! I was visiting for 2 weeks…read morefrom the US and could not seem to find a healthy mixed green salad for lunch anywhere. Also seemed difficult to find steamed or sauted mixed veggies either. I am not a vegan but decided to search vegan restaurants in the CBD. Revive came up so I tried it. Wow, they can make roasted and sauted veggies taste fantastic with the different spices and seasonings and dressings they use. Daily offering of 4-6 cold salad choices, 2 hot dishes (curries or stews) and soup. I went several times once I found them. I definitely recommend them!

Once you get inside you can choose from a huge range of salads (and it's not just boring greens, it's Thai noodle salad, it's chickpea-based deliciousness, it's Israeli couscous...) plus there are usually two hot options if you want something even heartier. It's all vegetarian and based on the Revive principle of avoiding the use of sugar as a sweetener (they use honey or dates instead) and generally making things that are wholesome and nutritious. I've never eaten a meal I didn't enjoy there and I'm addicted to the smoothies. If that isn't enough, you can pick up their generous discount vouchers on the back of your bus ticket or online, and they have two cookbooks out with low-fuss, never-fail recipes that have become essential in my cooking repertoire (although I am sorely tempted to rip out the page that preaches about getting in touch with god - yes, Revive is Christian-run).

Is it a cafe, restaurant or bar? Mink is trying to capture all the market here and I think they do a pretty good job. Offering a more sophisticated setting, you can come any time of the day and get fantastic food with fantastic service. The staff are really helpful, most accommodating. They do take bookings which is great if you plan on coming with a group and if you have special dietary requirements as I do, you let them know before hand and they will sort something out for you. Being vegan I have tested their patience when it comes to ordering off the menu. They passed. Their pizza is pretty good, they can do a vegan pizza and also risotto and pasta dishes can be made vegetarian and vegan too. The coffee (which is mostly the reason I come here) is very good which is important. Mink is popular for a reason, they do what they do well and people come back for it.

Everything is just a little bit fancy, and perfectly cooked and presented. I love to indulge in iced chocolates, and they quite widely vary between cafes, but this one was pretty spectacular - so much cream and the bonus addition of two chocolate fish! Friendly staff, even though it is always busy. They even provided colouring books and pencils for the kids. Nice touch.
