A group of 12 people came here. Everyone loved it. Some things were better than others but the menu has a lot of different types of food. There's something for everyone. The only downfall was the food came out at extremely different times, so some people were finished eating before others got their plate. The sushi was really good besides the one with steak on top. Dumplings, calamari, shrimp appetizer, steak, and mochi ice cream were excellent. The fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp/chicken was decent but nothing special. Overall this is an excellent spot for groups .
I really wanted to love this place. Came with a group of friends for a birthday. I understand we were a big group and we all trickled in to sit during the first half hour. Drinks can take long too. However it felt like we waited almost an hour to order our actual main food! It wasn't really that busy from what I could tell either. I get that this is a dine in place where it's on the nicer side and you take this slow, but it felt way too long. I'll only write about my food experience as I didn't get to taste everyone else's dish. I ordered the steak fried rice. The rice was harder on some parts, and the steak was really salty. It just fell flat. I also asked the waiter for a spoon, since we only had chopsticks. Also asked for chili oil. I waited for about 10 minutes until he came and asked if we needed anything else, which I asked him for a spoon again because it's honestly criminal to eat fried rice with a chopstick. He then brought me a spoon and a different waitress brought out the "chili oil" for me. There's no chili. It was sesame oil! I kindly asked them that there was no chili flakes- and the color of the chili oil was wrong that they brought out the wrong sauce. The waiter came back, mentioning the kitchen doubling down saying it's chili oil. This is actually a health concern because sesame is a major food allergen in the country. I sniffed it, tried it- no spiciness at all. Smelled and tasted like toasted sesame. I didn't push it any further but it wasn't a pleasant experience. The ambiance was nice but the quality of food, wait time, and the poor knowledge of the kitchen staff had made the experience not the best one for me.
Salmon roll that was on special the day we went in was phenomenal!! Ambiance is beautiful and trendy with moody lighting. Service was great. Also had the lobster fried rice which was another 10/10!!
The ambiance and the service were amazing but the food could be better. Black cod was seasoned well but the rice wasn't good We loved the batter they made for the calamari & the different cuts of it Shrimp udon, the sauce tasted like it came from a bottle instead of something made in house Drinks were delicious Bone Marrow fried rice wasn't good Overall it's a good place for date night for drinks & appetizers
The food was NOT great at all in my honest opinion, on Valentine's Day at least. We tried many things but were very disappointed by the calamari and VDay special sushi roll especially. We did however love the ambiance it was beautiful. The servers were attentive and accommodating.
My wife and I went here Jan 18th, 2025. I'm abit behind on my reviews. Kind've got a new exciting life going on with a newborn. Anyway, we loved out little date night out. The service and ambiance was quiet and the 2nd floor seating is amazing. I'm a big fan of that. We started off with the pork bao and spicy edamame appetizer. The spice is not too aggressive, which is great. The pork bao is amazing, and we appreciate it more because we've tried making it. We are not great asian cuisine chefs. The sushi, was awesome. We had the dragon roll and rainbow roll. Both truly tasty, and amazing. I don't think they could make any bad rolls here. For dessert - We had the chocolate bread pudding and lemon Yuzu, amazing dishes, really cannot go wrong here. Overall, amazing time. Lovely experience, and we recommend it.
One of my fav sushi places in the Plano area! If you're looking for quality sushi, good service and a great ambiance, Kai is your place. My husband and I have been a few times now and we've yet to have a bad experience. We're tried: Crispy Calamari - soooo yum Chocolate Nutella Bread Pudding - 10/10! We didn't want the deliciousness to end. Sushi Rolls - all super fresh And not to mention, the views of Legacy are great!
Super nice place, i love the food and the drinks were just really really good, the staff is really helpful, but What I love the most is the whole entire place, they do have such a beautiful deco, even restrooms are very nice and clean.
I love coming to Kai! The vibe is so fun and the decor is amazing. I always start with a dirty martini, but if I bring someone new I basically force them to try the Zen Garden cocktail because it's so innovative & fun! The best wagyu I've had in a long time as well.
Atmosphere: Kai has a great ambiance. It is a beautiful place to bring your wife and have dinner. The service was also pretty good. We sat at the sushi bar in front of the chefs, but overall just interacted with our waitress who was kind and mostly prompt. Food: The food was very lack luster. The chicken and wagyu beef dumplings were just ok. The vegetable and Steve roll both didn't have much flavor or texture. The cod was extremely soft (maybe slightly undercooked?) and not very flavorful or appropriately salted. The spritz was nice but a little too sweet (just our preference). Overall Experience: For a $112 meal, this was pretty average food. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for the food alone. You can get better elsewhere. We would only come back if we are invited by friends or want a nice ambiance to sit in. Portions are pretty small which we are okay with if the food is phenomenal...but that wasn't the case. P.S. Directly after our meal I walked over to shake shack and got a burger and fries so I could be satiated.
Ok so I am torn on how I feel on the restaurant. I definitely agree with all the reviews on how it's great aesthetically and how it's great to bring girls or to have a nice date night. But, that being said, I did not love the food. Which is ok, because I mainly wanted to go here to have a nice Valentine's Day dinner and be able to take beautiful photos. Food ratings: - Their "pad Thai"- not pad Thai at all. The smell was so good that my husband and I were excited and ready but as soon as you bite in it's like who cooked this? It was literally 99% soy sauce. No sweetness at all like traditional pad Thai. That was a total bust. I couldn't eat it so my husband did his best to finish it. - My tuna tower was not bad- not amazing - but not inedible like the pad Thai. It looks odd in my photo but it is a good size portion and I ate it in quickly which I appreciate Drink ratings- - I got a cucumber cocktail which was literally my favorite. Look at that zen garden presentation too! Perfect balance of sweet and refreshing I was so impressed - my husband got the valentines smoked maple old fashioned. He really didn't like it sadly - I tried it and couldn't get into it either - I finished off our dinner with an espresso martini - their specialty one with sake I believe- I've had really good ones and the one here is was not it. Waitress experience- - it was very odd- our waitress was not nice at first and it was a stark contrast to how she treated other clients. But after a while she softened up and got nicer. But the intro was off putting for sure. Also I didn't mind but just know that this is a "sexy" restaurant and the staff which is mostly good looking young women (do your thang I don't judge) will be donning a uniform of short leather crop tops and mini skirts. So if you're not into that scene just be prepared. Ambiance - inside of the place is so pretty. I love the neon signs and fake flower walls as cheesy as they sound- it really does make a difference! I will say be prepared to wait even if you have reservations. I missed mine by 15 minutes and I think they had to start the process over and my husband and I ended up waiting like close to an hour. I would definitely recommend for a fun girls night out A get dressed up and take pics- maybe for a bday dinner- but don't expect to love all your food and drink and be prepared to drop some dough!
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! This is one of the sexiest looking places I've been to in a while and the setting was exactly what we were looking for! My daughter left her food, which by the time we realized, the staff had trashed it. She was distraught because she had only taken a few bites, but the manager was awesome enough to replace it. July 2022 Thursday 6:30-8:00ish Reservation for two. Valet complimentary - work off of tips. (Give your phone number, and it texts you a ticket number. You can go in and update your car descriptions if you'd like) Kai has the aesthetic couch, photo op right when you open the doors to the right. Snap your picture before heading upstairs. Elevator to the second floor, or walk upstairs. Dress code: it just wasn't followed. I saw flip flops and denim shorts everywhere. I don't have a problem with that, but if I ever come up and get turned away for wearing flat sandals..... Brandon was our server. 10/10 recommend him. He was very good at explaining Kai as a restaurant, asking us if we had any allergies, and explaining the menu. Appetizer: seafood dynamite (sushi)-- comes with 6 or 7 pieces. (I didn't like it, but my friend who eats sushi, did. I ate a piece of the crawfish. Tasted. very, very freshhhhh) My friend also had (it'll be pictured) some sort of rice ball?? Maybe, idk. With raw tuna on top. I tried it, and it was actually good. I do NOT eat raw fish. Food: I ordered the bacon and Kimchi fried rice. The egg on the top has runny yolk, FYI. I would reorder this. 8/10 on the taste meter. DRANKS: We had the one night in Bangkok (small, yet aesthetically pleasing with the dragon fruit garnish and sparkles inside of the drink. Sweet) $16 or $17 for one. Would re-order, but wasn't strong although saki is in there. Kai-Arita. Yes I paid the $42 for it. It comes in a 1942 Don Julio glass. It was for the experience-- no, I wouldn't re-order. Yes, I think you should try it at least once if you want your insta pic. Drink should've been $25 at most. Comes frozen. The other drink in the review has wine in it. My friend liked it and would've ordered another. It has the "dry red wine taste" to it, so I wasn't a fan. My bill with tip was $100+ for just my two drinks and entree. Next time: I will request sitting in the bar area, or in the area with the pink-flowered ceilings. We were a party of four here for a dinner on a Saturday night. The ambiance of the place is breathtaking and such a vibe. We were seated in their semi outdoor space with fairy lights which I preferred to their indoor dim lighting. We got a crispy calamari to start and it lived up to its name, well seasoned paired with a spicy sauce that we asked for seconds of. Then we got the Mongolian beef, hot and honey shrimp, spicy tuna and udon noodles. The Mongolian beef was our favorite. It was sweet, tangy, crispy and their sauce was addicting! The shrimp were nice as well with the pineapples adding a nice acidic touch to the dish. The udon has this umami that I can't quite put my finger on but it was so refreshing to eat with the crisp veggies, soft tofu and broth. The tuna roll was pretty average and not something I would personally recommend. Our server was nice and attentive though a little hard to get a hold of but it was a Saturday night. The portion sizes are decent for a high end restaurant like this. Though you are spending a sizable amount. A great place to celebrate special occasions though! read more

If Kai were a human being; a man, it would be Bruce Wayne....not Batman, but Bruce Wayne. Dark, mysterious, sexy. Not too big on word play, but SHOWS you what he can do! Ideal for a intimate date night. Leave the kids at home. Under 12? With a responsible sitter of course! ;-) I sooo get NYC vibes with this place. No one here, patron or employee, is in need of a stylist. It definitely attracts a certain crowd; someone fresh off a runway, of course. Had a 7pm reservation that Thursday night and were seated immediately. This place also draws in people with manners. No other conversation was heard. Could probably hear a mouse piss on cotton.... The tuna tower is it! Hands down! Nope, don't ask questions! You just GOTTA get it. It's a pretty decent size so if it's an appetizer, split it. Solo? It could easily be an entree. I can definitely see how the bone marrow fried rice would be captivating to people, but the actual taste of it just wasn't for me. I thought I liked bone marrow. Maybe not?! Service certainly did not lack. The manager even brought out a couple of our plates and I'm here for it! This isn't for the budget friendly or penny pinchers so come during tax season or eat sardines and crackers at home before this visit. Definitely a must! read more

Super high end atmosphere, service was Amazing. However, being a 23yr sushi connoisseur I expected Top end choices to have more flavor. We spent nearly $600 for dinner, trying all the top items and I was not impressed with the "Toro ceviche" options, or the "Imperial roll" (with 24kt gold flake) almost $100 for both. Quality was not impressive. However the sashimi options (yellowtail and snapper) were amazing. Maybe we went on an off night but would still highly recommend this place for dates. Will likely try again but be prepared to spend some $$$$... read more
So I've heard a lot about this place, and the general consensus seems to be that while the aesthetic is fantastic, the portions are tiny, the food is okay, and the prices are a bit high for what you get. With all of that in mind, I came here with low expectations, and the experience was exactly what I thought it would be. Service was amazing! Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive! She even brought out a purse hook to hold our bags, which was such a thoughtful touch. Loved that! The restaurant was beautiful, music was on point, and the vibe was very chill! So while all of those things are worth coming back for, the food definitely was not. Before getting to the not so good, I'll start with the good. The seafood dynamite roll was absolutely DELICIOUS! I'm not even like super into sushi like that, but I truly enjoyed it! The roll had scallop, crawfish, snow crab, avocado, and cucumber, as well as a great sauce! I would absolutely recommend this. My friend got the mochi ice creams as her complimentary birthday dessert and it was ADORABLE! Seriously, so cute and so good! This was my first time having mochi ice cream, and the texture is definitely interesting but the flavors were on point and the sweet cream on the side was phenomenal. The flavors we tried were matcha, chocolate, and berries. The berries flavor was definitely our favorite! Also - my friend got the One Night in Bangkok cocktail and she really enjoyed it! It was super cute with the perfect amount of sweetness! Now onto the not so good. The chicken wings were burnt and just overall lacking flavor. While I appreciated the freshness and fluffiness of the truffle potatoes, they were lacking in flavor as well. They were barely salted and desperately needed a sauce. A truffle aioli would've been the perfect touch. The lamb chops were super tender but also, a bit burnt/charred and lacked flavor. The pork belly was like 98 percent fat and also had an odd aftertaste. I took a few bites and had to tap out. Just not great. Lastly, the portions definitely were tiny and simply put, just not worth it. So anyway, like I said, all in all - this is exactly what I expected it to be! Alysa is your girl!!! She was such an amazing server and handled her tables very well with a smile. She was so patient with us, described the meals very well and had great recommendations. She ensured to check on us at the right times, not too quick and not too late if that makes sense (Some servers at different restaurants will either check on you ever second or forget about you). The vibe was great and beautiful! The food was delicious we got the seafood dynamite rolls, steak, truffle fries, pad Thai and chicken dumplings. Omg each one of them were heavenly. I made a reservation at Kai a couple weeks in advance for Valentine's Day and Kai did not disappoint. I was a bit hesitant due to reviews I had seen, however my experience at Kai surpassed my expectations. I had made several calls the day of my reservation so that I could valet nearby. The hostess was consistently kind, patient, and helpful. When I arrived to Kai, I took the elevator upstairs and let the hostess know I had made a reservation. She then led us to our seat. The atmosphere was incredible! It was classy, fun, elegant, modern, and full of color. I wish I had gotten pictures of the interior, but I was too busy enjoying my night as a whole. Our server was attentive, kind, and helpful. I ordered the bone marrow and ox tail Fried Rice which was absolutely DELICIOUS! (FYI its an acquired taste so be careful if you are picky about texture). My girlfriend ordered the Korean BBQ Burger. The burger was bursting with flavor, well rounded in the meat to veggie/bun ratio, and the bun was thick and oh so buttery! Lastly we ended our night with a delightful brownie that makes my mouth water at the thought of it. The dark chocolate brownie was topped off with some sort of strawberry ganache within a dark chocolate shell. The bitterness of the chocolate in combination with the acidity and sweetness of the strawberry ganache was absolutely DIVINE! Thank You Kai for the memories, experience, and cuisine. Loved it! I figured it'd be busy for Valentine's weekend so we made our reservation at 6. They happen to have free valet at the corner of the street beside the restaurant. When we arrived we loved the neon sign in the entryway, perfect for a couple of pictures before heading upstairs to check in. The upstairs decor was just as picturesque. We were seated right away and our waitress was there shortly after. She helped us choose drinks based on specials and asked about allergies which can be very important for some! Food services was quick too -- everything tasted fresh, and the flavors paired great! I recommend having a sushi roll as appetizer, they're small enough and one of the best I've tasted in the area. The Oxtail and Bone Marrow Fried Rice with the Sake flight did not disappoint! read more

This is my first time here for HH and I am pleasantly impressed. The ambiance is too notch but the food I really good. Our lovely bartenders Marcus and Mark (and handsome if I must say) were fabulous and super attentive. He made me a homemade lemonade with vodka-mmmwahhhh!!!! The sushi is perfectly made-not too thick. The prices are super reasonable! Stop in and treat yourself! Thank me later! read more

I really wanted to like this place. My review is based on 2 drinks and 1 appetizer. I didn't like either of the drinks I ordered with the first being One Night in Bangkok. It tasted weird. Something was just off. I sent it back and got a different one which I don't remember the name of, but it was a little better, just a little. We got the tuna pizza, and after the first bite it was like womp womp womp. Maybe had I never had the tuna pizza at Akira Back, I would have liked Kai's. It definitely fell short because one it comes out looking like nachos instead of pizza. Two, it just taste okay. Based on this experience, I don't think I'll return; I am glad that I got to try it though. read more

I highly recommend this place. It's such a cute place. Usually places that have the instagram aesthetic lack in food but the food was fresh and delicious. They also have a late night menu. I was running late due to the recent nationwide airport/airlines disaster but the late night menu saved my life! Lol I ordered the Hamachi crudo and Steve roll. The Steve roll had too much avocado (that had a guacamole consistency) for me. I scraped some of it off but it was still enjoyable. I will warn you that Kāi turns into a lounge with a DJ and people dancing. So if you don't want that kind of vibe while eating them come before 9pm. The drinks were good and were decently priced. My experience at Kai was espectacular! I had a great time at the bar, where both the server and the people working the sushi bar were really welcoming and social. The food was great and varied. I only tried sushi but the fried rice that the couple next to me was eating seemed delicious! The ambiance was great too with great music and nice decor. read more
Celebrated an early Halloween at Kai last weekend. Very nice restaurant that turns into a nightclub after hours. Easy to get in, literally no wait and plenty of options for tables/bottle service. Wait staff and bartenders were friendly and was a nice place to wander into in our costumes. Drinks were good and they curated a special Halloween drink menu that impressed. Will be back to try the food menu! read more
This place is a whole vibe!! I loved my time here from the time I walked in until I left. I was able to make a reservation via open table. It was right when they opened so seating was very open in which I could appreciate. The hostess sat us in a cute spot with white and pink Christmas trees and beautiful star ornaments hanging up. Our hostess was amazing and well accommodating to our table. We tried awesome food and drinks. The water melon salad was nice and fresh with a spicy kick to it. I ordered the veggie fried rice which was amazing! It had veggies and tofu in it. My friends ordered a variety of things including the lobster tacos and the dumplings. Their report was that all their food was amazing. Not to mention their presentation was everything. It felt like a high end dining experience but for affordable prices. I enjoyed my company's Christmas party here. Everything was divine from service to the presentation of food and drink. I got to order eggplant miso and tempura. I also had a delightful taro mocktail. I can't name all the desserts I tried, but it was devouringly decadent. I know I will definitely come back to try other things on the menu! read more

"upscale" restaurant. Overpriced, bland sushi rolls with impossible staff. We ordered Omakase and had to argue with the manager because they refused to serve us omakase unless the entire table had ordered it. He accommodated b/c there was 2 of us. It makes no sense. Waitress was inattentive and rude. Rolls tasted worse than sushi Kroger. At around 10 the DJ comes and turns the music up all the way. It's more of a nightclub than an established restaurant. Before we even finished our 6th course a waitress rushed us and set down a reserved metal assuming for the nightclub tables later. Didn't even wait for us to finish our food Dress code is not enforced, there are people with BBL and biker shorts in here. Come for the vibes, nothing else. read more

Came here Halloween weekend and it did not disappoint! Drinks were delicious and unique! The lamb meal was SO good ! The lobster tacos my fiancé and future sister in law loved (I did not)! Definitely want to return on a regular night! read more
This place was beautiful and although it was not strict, they have a dress code. The sunny and salmon roll were underwhelming and not worth the price. The taro drink was delicious but I don't recommend going for the sushi. this would be a good spot to get drink though. read more

The best part of this restaurant is it's vibe and decor. Very modern and cool and details are well done, from the moment you enter to the seating all the way to their bathrooms. During the week it's a regular restaurant , however the night I was there, they had a live music (Thursday). The staff told us that half of the restaurant becomes more of a lounge/club in weekends. The food was above average overall. Well designed and presentation was excellent. Great place for celebrations, parties, or dates. Not the best for families with kids. read more

Just call in advance. I don't think they charge for table request. I would suggest trying to get seated in the lounge area where comfortable sofa/couches seating are at.
