I did have an online account for said person but the website changed and I couldn't recreate a new log in. PARKING: There were 13 on-street, 1-hour parking stalls (which are never unoccupied) fronting the building, or a parking garage with supposedly high rates according to other reviewers. I forced my spouse to do a drop off & pick up! EXPERIENCE: Located on the first floor of One Main Plaza, security will escort you in while asking some safety questions. He then had me check in on the slow-responding kiosk which issued a ticket number, just like the DMV. The small office had an adequate amount of chairs and 8 windows. A TV screen showed called numbers but no chimes or alerts were sounded to get your attention, but the security guard, out of the goodness of his heart, would verbally announce the numbers and which window to go to. I was called in about 30 minutes which I thought was pretty quick judging by the amount of people waiting. The guy who helped me asked for a death certificate, which I had on my phone but I wasn't allowed to email it to them to see or print out. I did have a hard copy POA which he thankfully accepted along with a few security questions. 5 minutes later I had document in-hand! I think he knew my predicament and assisted me fully because he cared. Much appreciated and thank you! OVERALL: If you've had a bad experience here, I'm pretty sure you were partly to blame. Be civil and you'll go far.

I just wish we had got the gentleman's name so I could give him a personal shout out here! We had to visit the DHS to complete the process and he made sure we knew what to ask for, gave us some print outs and forms to take with us, and made sure we knew where we were going. He was empathetic and helpful and it was such a relief as we though it was going to be a hard process after dealing with the Red Cross and FEMA recently in the Lahaina disaster. Easy parallel street parking outside, friendly security guard at the entrance will show you the way, the security guard at Soc Sec welcomes you and shows you the ropes. Sooo easy. Mahalo to everyone at the Soc Sec office for helping us.

FACILITIES: My parents retired from MPD so I've been inside both buildings. The old station was that sunken, 2-level building right next to the county building and currently houses the county permits office. They moved from those cramped quarters to their current spot on Mahalani Street in the mid 80's. Back then, you could literally walk through the entire building as no doors were key-controlled. Not anymore. Today, the public has access only to the receiving desk and traffic sections. POSITIVE EXPERIENCES: Calling 911 has been quick and efficient. Like other reviewers have stated, I too have gotten a condescending operator on the line, but it is a high-stress job with measly pay, so I get it. Working with the public, you do get your fair share of a-holes just like at any job. My outcomes have always been favorable whenever I needed help, from health emergencies to minor traffic accidents to non-emergent issues. I even got out of jury duty once due to my relationship with the department, LOL! Years ago, riding in a friend's truck from Lahaina to Kahului, we almost got into a head-on collision as some idiot was overtaking cars. After we swerved off the shoulder, luckily an officer was right behind us and pulled the yo-yo over. Most recently, I had someone clip my vehicle and drive off. I gave chase, an officer saw the other driver speeding, he gave chase but lost them, I provided the license plate number, he got their info, their insurance paid. Yes! NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES: Once, I was driving to Lahaina and traffic was just stopped in the Ukumehame area. It wasn't the usual gridlock but one car that was stopped at the head of the line backing up traffic. I had no idea what was going on so I blew my horn as we were just sitting there. In any other city it would be accepted but not to this one dick-of-an-officer who came up to my car and gave me crap about it. Back around 1996, even after providing the license plate number to the attending officer of a hit-and-run driver, I got no info back on the other driver and got stuck with the repair bill. OVERALL: Thanks for keeping Maui safe!

It was my first visit to Kahului (and Maui) via the port, rather than the nearby international airport. We were at Pier 1, with a quarter mile walk to get to the nearest public road. We were told to exit from the very front of the ship. We were told multiple times to bring our sea card (which was scanned on exit to indicate that we left the ship) and a government issued picture ID. We were allowed to start disembarkation around 10:20. Our party (me, my wife, her mother, and our neighbor friend) waited it until about 11, at which time it was lot less crowded leaving. Once we put our feet on firm land, we were routed into a large warehouse space. Not much inside in terms of tourism...main purpose was to get you to the other side where there was a queue for taxis, one bus for ship-sponsored tours, and the beginning of the walking path. The offshoot was that the taxi queue was probably 10-15 parties deep at that point. Only registered taxis are allowed to enter the secured port to pick up passengers. This walk was very well marked and controlled, but because it was very narrow and long, it proved to be a bit difficult for folks with mobility issues. At the end of the secure path is the intersection of Wharf Street and E Kaahyumanu Ave, across from which is the Maui Mall Village shopping center, with retail shops and restaurants. This is where we started to get around using Lyft/Uber. Coming back, our Uber driver let us know that the port does allow ride share drivers to enter the port to drop off passengers. Sure enough, the security officer let our driver through once checking IDs. The drop off point was pretty close to where taxis were picking up passengers. We had to show IDs and our cruise card to walk through the security gate, then through the main building where we and our belongings went through X-ray. From there it was an easy walk to the gangplank, where they scanned our card to formally record that we were back on the boat. Because the boat can dock so close to land, I was able to get a good 5G signal on the open air decks of our ship. Was nice to have internet for the rest of time we were in port.

Why was there a plan already discussed to rebuild Ukraine at a cost of perhaps hundred of billion n the job to be done by BLACKROCK, the evil grifter Larry Fink n yep camel toe has given how many million to Lebanon n she's thinking of rebuilding Beirut too but the people of Maui got $700 n 1 year later the city lies in ruins. You know what to do on 11/5, it's heartbreaking. The last time I was in Lahaina, luckily for some reason I decided to go visit the museum n inside the pioneer hotel, 6 months later all the artifacts n treasures were pulverized n unless we get change, nothing will be done and people are afraid the developers will go in like vultures n turn Maui into Waikiki w all hotels skyscrapers. Kahului harbor looked nasty, the port was an industrial warehouse like leading to nowhere, a taxi ride to Kahului cost $45!!to Kihei probably $60 it was insane. My niece just bought a townhouse over the phone! I wanted to pass by to take a look but not if it cost 60! Many people had moved to the mainland. I just don't get it why they say Kahului population is 27,000 when I saw nobody? The Maui ocean center was like nothing compared to the Long Beach aquarium so my advice don't even bother, Princess cruises are out of control to charge an arm n a leg I think $119 when it cost $50. We just walk along the nice harbor near by n had lunch at TANTE. Yelp deleted the tip section? Why? Here a tip Tante has happy hour $3.50 for a Maitai! Delicious n crazy prices $4 margaritas! Most restaurants all over Hawaii charge $17 for a Maitai!. I won't be going back to Maui till Lahaina is rebuilt but from what I see local people told me they were abandoned n greedy billionaires Opra n Bezos might just gobble up what's left, I'm not from Maui n I'm mad as hell already, if you are not you should too.
