In search of a good cup of a hot beverage this place surfaced in the hearth of the neighborhood of santa maria la ribera, with a park filled of late evening spirit, people exercising, running around, walking their dogs ( a lot of dogs ) or just doing the late evening bf n gf type of thing, the park is surrounded of this coffee & beer places, i guess they tried the bar type of place but realized the area isnt about that so they got the coffee & beer deal.
Thats what this place is about, which i love, reminds me of that new starbucks era where they are selling wine now days at select shops, because well honestly some times you want a beer but ur girl want a coffee so how do u do it? at this type of places.
Unfortunately with this type of hybrids come the high prices, true example of this shop will sell u mediocre cups of coffee and hot chocolates made with cocoa powder all for starbucks prices, obviously beers of double their price, thats what irritated me, i find much cheaper prices in downtown area next to the zocalo.
Anywho, if that wasnt all, the service its alright, however it seems like their owners are very picky about what time they close, i came at a cool not so chilly night, no rain, no cold and well they even had a band of bad teenager musicians but it was alright, and at 11pm they where like, can i bring you the check, this to all the tables, there was people passing by thinking about staying out for some coffee but, they really where just not about staying pass their bed time.
Place its waited by kids (late teens - 20's maybe) from the area, which is cool, but you got them all their friends passing by and staying for a 4mnt chat while you are trying to get their attention, so its really unprofessional.
Anywho the place has potential but yet i guess they have seen too many bad days that probabbly have deceided to not put much effort on it, so they dont care if they having a good night or not.
As mentioned expect to spend $100 pesos on a mediocre coffee, a crepe or wrapp per person. read more
