The food was good. The waiter was excellent. The manager was incredibly rude - Katie was her name.

We were in town while camping at Palo Duro Caynon. Sushi in the midwest can be a toss up. We were pleasantly surprised by Kabuki Romanza. Excellent service and great, fresh sushi as well as yakatori. The periidic inside rainstorms werw a great touch. read more

Very disappointed in this so-called "Japanese" restaurant. First, I have NEVER been to a Japanese restaurant that charges extra for fried rice with your meal ($3.59 up charge). Secondly, they have no yum-yum sauce (the white sauce that Japanese restaurants make), rather, a VERY strong and nasty ginger sauce that tastes more like onions than anything. Thirdly, they will tell you that you can order something at a certain price, yet when the bill comes out, there is another up charge for *something. Fourthly, the chicken isn't even cooked in a sauce, it's just bland and dry. The rice portions are small. Lastly, the manager and server were extremely rude and unprofessional, at one point walking away while I was still in the middle of talking. The atmosphere was nice, but the food is definitely NOT worth the money!! read more

Kabuki used to be so good. But recently I went to dine there, and it's gone down with the ship, so to speak. First off, they changed the salad dressing they have used for years. It was some orange tasting stuff and it was not good. Then the sauce they serve you with their food was runny and not the same consistency that it's always been. To make matters worse, the chef who came to prepare our food must have been new- he tried to stack an onion volcano and give us a show but the onion collapsed and he couldn't get the match lit. I was embarassed for him. They quit serving the complimentary shrimp appetizer that they had always served at dinner-- so it was obvious they were cutitng costs. The chef over cooked the meat and undercooked the vegetables. I left this place really disappointed because this place had been good for so long. To make matters worse, the waiter got things messed up and double charged me for my meal and the manager was not helpful AT ALL in resolving the issue. Kabuki is expensive- and I don't mind paying a lot for a meal if it's good. But I left there feeling really cheated about the experience and it just didn't feel like the value that it once did. read more

Twice every week, my wife and I dine at various sushi bars in Amarillo. Upon this recent incident, my wife and I encountered a cockroach in a very close vicinity to our table. Needless to say my wife and I will no longer be dining here. read more

Was in a mood for benihana style food so we ended up at this joint. Lady at the front desk told us "20 minutes." So we started drinking at the bar to kill time. One large hot sake led to another, and then next thing you know its 1 hour later. What the fuck? The buzzer never rang. so we asked for the manager to see whats up. she said she had to talk to someone. WTF? your the manager and you need to check with the lady at the desk who probabaly makes 1/3 of your pay? Yo homey don't play dat! We finally sat down and the "manager" said she can give us either spring roll or egg roll. WTF again bizatch. You giving me some leftover shit to eat and that's supposed to make up the time and money we spent on getting drunk. At least comp us on the drinks not 2 dried up pieces of spring roll, which comes in a package of 500 at the Asian store. that's shits like 10 cent each. Anyway, the chef wanst that good. The only thing good about it was the fact that HE was Asian. at least make me feel like its real authentic benihana Japanese style food. read more

Best Japanese steakhouse I've ever been to and they have the most awesome decor inside! You walked over a moat and onto boat. Every hour there is simulated lightening and thunder and real 'rain' that falls all around the boat and into the moat. Awesome!!!! read more

We waited 40 minutes for a table after being told by the host, 10 minutes to wait for a table or 30 for the grill. Some people who arrive after us were sat before us. Then when we were finally seated, we were sat at a table that had been available since we arrived. They had 4 empty tables in the bar area which remained unfilled while they made people wait. The table the host took us to was dirty, I had to ask for a wet towel to clean it myself while the employees watched me do it! We sat under directly beneath a vent blowing cold air even though it was 57 degrees outside. I asked to speak to a manager, who took a long time to come by. When he finally did, he did not introduce himself and he told us he was working at both stores so did not know what was going on. He was not sincere, he came off like a sterotypical used car salesman, then he asked if we were ready to order. The soup and iceberg lettuce came out promptly. Our entrees took another 40 minutes to arrive. It was cold and bland. The highlight were the vegetables and I don't need $30 vegetables. The manager never came back to check on us. He and a female manager in an organza top and leopard shoes just walked past us, avoiding eye contact. The saving grace of the night was the Coca Cola and our waitress, Debbie. She was beyond delightful. The whole experiece was a debacle and a waste of $80 for what is essentially discount chinese food. Horrible service, horrible hospitality (except for Debbie), horrible food and pispoor management. How in the world was this place voted the Best of Amarillo?! read more

I just surprisingly had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Kabuki Romanza in Amarillo. It took a full hour from the time we were seated at a grill before the chef finally came to our table. It was obvious he'd rather not be cooking at all, didn't interact with the people at the table or do any of the showy cooking, and was completely unprepared. He didn't have enough vegetables or enough of the right meats for the orders at the table. By the time he corrected his mistakes and served the stir fry, the rice was cold. We and two other people at our table were persistent enough to wait another thirty minutes for a manager to return; the rest of the table was unhappy but had to leave. The manager seemed sympathetic but then he left and returned and said the owner only authorized him to give us some "Kabuki Bucks" to spend in the future(and they can only be used $5 per visit). Yeah, right. This place used to be awesome. What a shame! read more

First off, I would like to say, Kabuki, was my favorite place to eat. Hands down. Everytime I would get paid I would go have lunch there. I mean come on you pay for one meal and end up with another one for dinner. Well since starting school, you don't have the luxury of an hour lunch. With that being said, I had to settle for take out. The last 3 times I ordered, it was incorrect. So, I called back and spoke with, Jeremy, GM. He said he would look into it and give me a call back. This was 9/21/12. I expressed to him that the last time I called he was to call me back and never did. Said he doesn't know about the last incident but assured me he was gonna call back. Well Monday came no call, Tuesday, Wednesday. So today being Thursday 27,2012. 6 days later, I called. I introduced myself to him and refreshed his memory by going back over what happened. He did not appologize for not getting back with me but instead followed with this.... "I have decided that since you are having problems, you will not be able to order togo anymore, since there are so many other choices for you." I said, "So, since you can't get me order right, you won't allow me to order, all it is was is Chicken with mushrooms, no zuccinni." He replied, " I looked at the camara and saw him put what he needed to, and your name has been added in the computer to not accept take out order." Then just hung up. He was rude, short and argumentative. It is not my fault that you are not a man of your word and in fact, whoever allows him to stay is turning business away and doesn't care to take responsibility. Perhaps, it may be the Owners don't really know what's going on. Whatever the case maybe, I will miss you Kabuki, but I will not keep allowing this kind of SCUM to keep taking my money, I guess some business do get so big they forget how humble their beginnings really were and how it took LOCAL clients to make them what they are today. read more

We have been to Kabuki many times and the wait is usually 10-15 when a table is requested instead of a grill. There were only 2 four top tables seated and after 25 minutes I asked the hostess to be seated in an empty seat knowing I would still have to wait but at least we could get something to drink. My elderly Mother could not get into the bar stools. I was still told No. After 35 minutes I asked for a manager and restated my request. To which the Manager had the same reply, NO because they didn't have a waitress available to take a drink order. To which I stated, "You are the manager, are you unable to take our drink order for some reason?" I think we were treated very rudely and without any professionalism. Needless to say, if you have a waitress that can only handle 2 tables at time, then you as the manager should step in and help out, NOT just stand around being useless! We will not be returning for a long time, if ever. read more
