Quick review update: Food (4 stars) + Kids Chapli is a huge portion that can feed both of my little ones. It is very good too! Nice crispy minced beef with afghan spices that I cannot make out. Rice is very flavorful and their lavash style bread makes it that much more special. (5+ stars) - Lamb chops were over cooked even though we explicitly said medium rare since we requested it to go. We wanted to be able to warm it up at home, and still keep it tender. Nope, it's well done. (2 stars) Service/Ambiance (5 stars) + It was just one guy working the front and a cook in the back, but he took care of us just fine + No one was there on a weekday around 4pm I'll still be returning because it's located in a very nice plaza. Location is totally underrated and this is a perfect date night place.
This was my first time having Halal and this place absolutely blew my mind away. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat away by our amazing server. We opt in for the outdoor seating with this canal made inside the plaza and heaters placed all around. What we ordered: Sampler kabob (5/5): this came with chaplee, chicken and beef so you get a little bit of variety to try from. This dish was so delicious, all the ingredients were super fresh and goes well together. Bolani Potatoes: (4/5): was surprised by the huge portion size and was not expecting so much for an appetizer. Other wise, simply delicious and had this yogurt sauce to dip from, great flavor balance! Lamb Kabobs: (5/5): off the grill type of flavor, you can taste the char on each individual lamb chop. The meat was buttery and melts in your mouth, a must get if you ever come here. Overall this was such an amazing place to try middle eastern food for my first time. If you have never had, I would 100% recommend this place to be your first if you're in the area.
Came across this place last minute! Everything we ordered was delicious, flavorful, and clearly made with care, but the real highlight was the back patio, it's beautifully set up with a traditional cozy vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. Plus, the outdoor seating is dog-friendly. Definitely a hidden gem and I'll be coming back.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and finally got the chance today. I always see lots of patrons and the waft of the barbecued meats is very tantalizing. Both hubby and I ordered the combo plates and the beef and chicken were both tender and well seasoned. It came with rice, naan, and salad. Everything was really good and the service was excellent. The outside dining area by the waters is so nice and enjoyable.
Came here yesterday late afternoon for lunch. We were seated right away. Really cute Afghan traditional outdoor seating by the lake. The food was warm and fresh. Great customer service. We will definitely be back if In the area.
Stopped here after visiting the neighboring museum. It looked like a fun Mediterranean restaurant to try. The kebabs were super flavorful! The chicken was some of the most tender I've had. Server was friendly and efficient. Nice outdoor area to lounge and listen to the waterfalls & fountains. Highly recommend!

The meat is still well seasoned and flavorful. I got the combo while my fiancé got the sampler. Tried a bit of the Chaplee and while it does have spice to it, it's mild and not as spicy as other places like De Afghanan which works well for me! On top of it, Shor Nakhed is hard to find and they still have it and it's still delicious! So giving them the full five stars cause this place deserves it. Coming back again when I can!!
I watched a IG video that featured this place, so it was immediately bookmarked. I didn't realize that it was in a small outdoor mall area. My best friend and I decided to sit down outside to enjoy the weather and also the pond. We ordered the potato bolani to start and both got the sampler kabob plate. It took a little while for the food to get to our table, but once it did we were pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The potato bolani was crispy on the outside with flavorful potato inside. The yogurt sauce along with the green hot sauce complimented the bolani very well. The sampler kabob platter allowed both of us to try differently prepared meats. It was all so delicious. I had enough leftover to have more the next day. Visit 786 Kabob House...like today! You won't regret it.
My partner and I decided to try this restaurant after seeing he saw it on social media. Outside dining was a little more popular compared to sitting inside- this restaurant was beautifully decorated outside, with lovely traditional Afghan pillows. I found the food to be delicious and well-seasoned. My partner who is Afghan, wasn't too fond with the kababs as he found them a little dry and salty- he was also disappointed that our appetizer came in last- after we had finished our entrees. The service could've been a little better knowing they weren't too busy that day.
I would get it five stars for Location! Beautiful and calming backdrop in Blackhawk! The food is decent, though lacking in flavor in my opinion. The mint chutney condiment is a must try and complements any of the dishes really well!

Beautiful ambiance and delicious food! My girlfriends and I had the perfect dinner here. It felt like a private dinner, it was intimate and the food was comforting. The chicken kabob, chaplee and lamb was moist, tender and juicy full of flavor! Oh and I loved their rose infused lemonade! It was so refreshing.

It's a great place for patio dining for lunch or dinner. The food is good, the view is great, and the service is excellent! This place is a hidden gem at the Blackhawk plaza. It serves delicious Kabob, Bolani, and other dishes. I think it's operated by the owners. They are situated just outside of the Blackhawk museum. I think it's a perfect place to have good food fora business meal or with family and friends. I love the ambiance while enjoying a great meal! read more

Food at Hayat Kabob House is absolutely delicious. Plus, you have an opportunity to experience a beautiful view of the lake with swans right across the restaurant. I typically choose outdoor seating. Service is very good. Our waiter ensured we were well taken care of. Highly recommend! There is also a museum by the restaurant with various statues displayed outside. read more

Located by the pond of ducks and geese at Blackhawk Plaza is the most unexpected of eateries. 786 Kabob House offers a small menu of Afghani kabobs in a cafe setting with traditional red cushioned seating. We started with the Borani Kadu, a soft, sweet braised pumpkin wedge drizzled with yogurt and topped with dry mint. But the highlight item was the Sampler Kabob Plate, which came with chicken kabob, teka beef (tri-tip) kabob, and chaplee kabob (minced sirloin with chilies), along with seasoned brown basmati rice, naan (crusty Afghani flatbread), and Afghan salata (cucumbers, tomatoes, onion). Each of the kabobs was juicy and flavorful, but my favorite was definitely the chaplee kabob, which had a crispy texture on the outside and a spicy flavor throughout! Overall, the food at this restaurant was decent and rather unexpected for its location. The portion sizes were generous for the prices, though the service left something to be desired. read more

Very good food, had no idea how to eat it traditionally but it was amazing! Ambiance is very good outside, view of the waterfall and ponds, 9/10 for outside but inside it's very plain, hot, wouldn't eat inside. Service is good, fast service for food and very kind people. read more
I was finally able to try out this place since they opened. Hubs picked up TAKE OUT here. We went all in and ordered the chicken kabob, a favorite staple. By the time Hubs drove to pick up, it was ready to go so it was still hot when he got back home. They even remembered the utensils, which most places forget or have to be reminded of. Seriously. The chicken kabob I had last night was absolutely....DELICIOUS. I am stingy when it comes to giving out stars, so rarely do I give a 5. However, I have had enough kabob/ kebab dishes in my lifetime to know that this was one of the freshest, tastiest, tender & moist chicken kabobs I have had. Period. The seasoned rice was perfectly cooked and piping hot. The bread had a nice chew and not cardboard tasting like other kabob houses. Even the sides were so good. I truly hopeful many will patron here given the history of BHP tenants. read more
This is such a cute spot located in the Blackhawk center. They have outdoor traditional seating and also a few seating options inside. The staff is really nice too, they come by enough to make sure you're covered, but not in a hovering way. But the FOOD HERE IS AMAZING! We ordered the mixed-bolani, chapli platter and kabob sampler platter and everything was just perfect! The bolani was make to order and fresh and the chaplee were just sooo soo sooooo good (perfectly moist inside but charred on the outside just enough to give a crunch). Recommend going here as the pricing and serving sizes are reasonable but I do think you should sit outside to get the full experience. read more
This is a new gem in the afghani restaurant selection. The location is amazing. The setting is out of a movie set that transports you to another county, yet it is in beautiful and amazing Blackhawk shopping center. The food quality is excellent. Each dish had a home made taste and aroma. Just walking to get seated you can smell the cinnamon and cloves along with cardamom. Portions are generous. The beef was tender and juicy. Chicken cooked to perfection. The saffron tea with hint of rose water and a Firni (Panna Cotta) really sealed the deal for me. read more
Having had Afghan food my whole life I'll admit my standards are different. When I go out for it I expect it to be better than what I can make, not on par or worse. I ordered the combo plate and the meat was cooked perfectly. Just wish it had more flavoring. The rice was steamed well with whole grains, yet again lacked flavoring and the proper coloring. As one of the kids pointed out, the rice was a hybrid between chalau (white rice) and palau (brown rice). In my opinion it was rice doused in kitchen bouquet and passed off as Afghan palau. As an appetizer we ordered the bolani and I can definitely make it better. It had some heat to it, again lacked salt and flavoring. Service was mediocre at best. They brought out the food, but the water bottles sat empty. I asked for water twice (once in each language) and it fell on deaf ears. Portions were decent, but not going out of my way for it. read more

This was my second time coming to this restaurant they have a beautiful outdoor seating area and floor seating with a Beautiful view there food is the best I have been to many restaurants in the Bay Area but this is my most favorite restaurant their bolani is cooked to perfection their kabobs are char broiled and seasoned perfectly they have great customer service warm and friendly welcoming staff I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone Casy the owner did a great job with the decor and the cleanliness of the restaurant they deserve 10 stars read more

The food and service was exceptional this evening. We love Afghan and Persian food. I don't eat pork and shellfish so I absolutely embrace and enjoy the food. I always say that the food "tastes very clean". Every dish was excellent and tasty. My girls absolutely loved their meals and couldn't get enough. Growing up in Hawai'i we are known as the melting pot; so I always want my girls to embrace every culture and the food. 786 Kabob House did not disappoint. Aaron was wonderful and explained each dish to us. We felt like we were guests at his hale. We enjoyed eating outdoors next to the heater. It was comfortable and warm and we were so relaxed. Their house tea was so good and I could smell and taste the rose water. I couldn't get enough! The dogh was refreshing and very light. It complimented the meal very well too. The beef and chicken were very tender and soooo good! Like I said, we couldn't get enough. My youngest rarely eats beef and she immediately asked for it and ate every single bite. Unfortunately they sold out of baklava; but, the firni was very light and cleansed our palate. Thank you again to Aaron for being very welcoming and hospitable and taking the time to explain each item/dish that was brought out. Please support small businesses as much as possible. We cannot wait to come back here again. I just can't stop thinking of their rose water tea. I don't know the name of it; but, I'm sticking to that because it smelled and tasted exactly like that. Delicious and great service! The environment is really cute outside since you can sit by the pond and watch the ducks in the plaza. I ordered the bolani potatos as the appetizer and Sampler kabob as my entree. All the meats were cooked perfectly and deliciously seasoned. Next time I'm going to order extra bread with my entree . Came here to dine with my mom since she has been here before. We had the best service and introduction of various dishes from the owner him self (which is a sweet couple and their brother who was running around the shop). We ordered the Bolani, Kebob sampler plate and baklava as desert or share. All the portions were huge and so flavorful!!! I was very impressed to everything including the yogurt dip (which they make it fresh in house and we were told the strand of yogurt is brought from Afghan). If you want to support small business that has authentic and delicious food, this is the place to check out. Not to mention a gorgeous view at a reasonable price. read more
