Dining Reservations ignored. Guests treated like "second class citizens." I recently stayed at the…read moreHotel Bad Schachen for a few days expecting "a warm welcome" they boast about and relaxation since it promotes its spa and other services. The front desk check-in clerk was gracious and accommodating. However, dinner reservations the desk clerk said she made our at the hotel upon check in, "disappeared." On the second night, again dinner reservations were made at the front desk. Our party of four (4) showed up only to find us seeing our outside available terrace table being given to a party of three (3) who simply walked to the door and took the seats at the table. The waitress nodded to the party and they sat down! My traveling companion quickly ran to the person in charge who simply shrugged his shoulder saying there was nothing he could do...the table was taken. We waited 30 minutes.....another 30 minutes for a table on the terrace to open up to no avail......one hour no table, no apology, nothing other than glares and stares from the staff. Our remaining option was to either go to their inside dining room or search for a restaurant outside of the hotel grounds or go without dinner. We tried to share our disappointment to the Hotel Bad Schachen's employee, Antonio Criswold but he simply shouted back to one of my traveling companions that there was nothing he could do and walked away. She became very emotional by his response and after requesting through our waiter that we wanted to speak to Antonio he approached our table whereupon I was able to get his name. Needless to say, our meal was a disaster, the mood altered to dissatisfaction and the end of our stay at Hotel Bad Schachen with a negative feeling. Mr. Criswold demonstrated that the customer is NOT always right nor considered a valued customer. Crisworld concentrated more on organizing the leather bound menus in the hallway outside the inside dining room rather than make these guests from the USA feel welcomed and valued as a customer at the Hotel Bad Schachen. Disappointing........I would suggest their star rating be reviewed....

Parkhotel is a lovely place to stay on the mainland (about a 30 min walk to the island, or you can…read moretake the bus or rent a bike). The staff is extremely friendly and caring. They greeted us warmly, and it honestly felt like I was staying at a family member's home. Every morning for breakfast they'd ask if I wanted a boiled egg. The breakfast was the best part of the stay - an assortment of bread, meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and pastries! The breakfast seating area is lovely - both indoor and outdoor seats available. The lobby itself is small. They offer complimentary apples at the front desk, and you can buy drinks in the fridge. My room was cozy and much larger than expected. There's a massive closet with plenty of storage space and hangers. The bathroom has a hair dryer. If you don't want your room cleaned on a certain day, you can leave a sign on your door and they won't come in. The bed - if I remember correctly - was two twin mattresses right next to each other. There's a desk, two bedside tables, and a tv. The tv of course only has German channels, my favorite being the children's program Bernd das Brot - try to find it at night, it's entertaining. My room had a patio, which was very nice. If you're checking in late, be sure to notify them in advance as the front desk isn't manned at all hours. Also, if you need a taxi, definitely reserve it a few days in advance. The front desk can help you call, but if you try to call for immediate pick up your odds are not good. Also, on Sundays most everything is closed, but there is a supermarket about 15 min walk from the hotel open on other days. IMPORTANT NOTE: bugs might enter!! The way to prevent this is to be sure that either a) your window/door to the outside is closed or b) if it's too hot and you need it open at night like me, make sure the thin white curtain covers the entire door and then use the other black out curtain on top of that. I accidentally left this open for just an hour at night with the lights on in my room and soon noticed gnats and moths in the room. You don't want this, so be sure to cover it completely and then it works. It would be nice if the windows/doors had screens to really keep out the bugs. The room gets hot in the summer without the window open (no A/C) but I loved the comforter - it was lightweight and kept me very cool. The nights get cool. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Parkhotel and I would love to stay again if I ever go back to Lindau! Danke schön!!
