Kare-kare, pancit with pork, steamed white rice, and sabaw sinigang; Thanks Kabayan!

I came here as a first timer and to my surprise, the food was served like I usually do at home and it was amazingly tasty. I ordered Kare-kare, pancit with pork, steamed white rice and sabaw sinigang. Yummy! I'll come back for sure to try the bulalo, lumpia and more. Thanks Kabayan!

Great comfort food. Friendly staff. Always hits the spot when I come dine here. Also if you need something for the kitchen, just walk over to the cute mini grocery store a few steps away. My experience has always been yummy and order my regular slurps, Dinuguan, Pancit Canton, Jeprox, Pompano Sinigang, Pork BBQ, Lumpia, and for the final Burp Halo Halo

A Filipino friend of mine, who is a first rate sushi chef at a local Japanese restaurant, had recommended for me a Filipino market and restaurant called Kabayan Oriental Mart and Restaurant. Being that Filipino restaurants are a rarity in my part of South Florida, I was eager to try it. So, I went there last week for the first time. The restaurant was located in a small, unnoticeable shopping plaza. On the walls were displayed some Filipino bas-relief carvings. The market part of the restaurant contained several shelves full of delicacies imported from the Philippines. There was a variety of snacks and cookies as well as freshly prepared food items. They had home-made desserts such as Filipino flan, or Puto, a flavored steamed rice cake. Once I sat down at my table, I checked out the menu. Unlike some Asian fusion restaurants that carry a smattering of Filipino dishes, this place specialized only in Filipino cuisine. My Filipina food server was very helpful in explaining the menu offerings to me. I started with a Philippine style empanada. Although the crust was okay, the filling was a tasty blend of ground pork, raisins and other flavorings. I also had the Lumpia pork egg rolls. These came out nice and crispy and hot. I then ordered the sizzling Sisig, a dish comprising of pigs ears, pork belly and topped with a raw egg. Once mixed with the hot pork mixture, the egg is cooked. This dish was so delicious, and came with a side of flavorful garlic rice. For dessert, I had the Halo-Halo, a dessert made of purple yam ice cream, shaved ice, condensed milk, candied fruits, diced mango and a few other items. It was delicious and decadent and, from what I know of Filipino cuisine, very authentic. My final dessert was a just-made Turon- a crispy, flaky Lumpia filled with whole sweet plantains. This dessert was fresh and hot and addicting. But their stand-out dessert, which I tried once I got home, was their Sapin-Sapin, a wonderfully tempting happy ending made up of flavored sticky rice, with a layer of purple yam, a layer of yellow jack fruit and a layer of white custard. This attractive dessert was then topped with toasted coconut. Considering that I had never been here before, I was so fascinated by the menu that I plan on returning, despite its distance from my house. There are so many delicious sounding items on the menu that I wish to explore in future visits. As I said, it was not a fancy place, but if you're looking for authentic Filipino cuisine, this is the place to go.

The restaurant is small and parking is limited. Staff was very friendly, They serve breakfast here all day. My husband had one of their breakfast specials, while I had something from the lunch side of their menu. He got their "Georgia Breakfast". It had two biscuits with sausage and cheese topped with sausage gravy along with two over easy eggs and grits. He said the biscuits were wonderful -- nice and soft inside. We were surprised to learn they were not house made, but from a food service company, Cheney Brothers. I got their crispy chicken club sandwich. The all white meat chicken was breaded and fried. It was very good. Came with a few strips of bacon, a large slice of red tomato, and a lettuce leaf. The bacon could have been a tad more well done. And the bun -- called a Kaiser roll on the menu -- was more like a hamburger bun. I didn't eat the bread. Got potato salad as my side. It was eggy and slightly sweet from the pickle relish. Good, but not my favorite. I had to get a biscuit to go -- just to try one -- and ate it in the car with the provided butter as my "dessert". Glad we got to try this place. Definitely a good option for breakfast. Although their pot roast special of the day looked appealing, too .

No stars Review for Skillets…read more This was a very disappointing experience and a terrible start to our family day. We waited over 45 minutes outside despite there being plenty of empty tables. Our party included two children and three adults. Once seated, we waited another 10 minutes before even getting coffee, and only after asking. The food was poorly prepared and tasteless. * The French toast was advertised as generously dipped in eggs and made with sourdough bread. It was dry, bland, and did not resemble sourdough at all. * The biscuits were hard, and the gravy was unidentifiable and did not resemble southern-style food in any way. * The corned beef hash looked raw and unappetizing and completely ruined our child meal. * The potatoes were absolutely awful. We had planned our day around visiting Lion Country Safari, so after investing nearly two hours between waiting and service, leaving was not an option. We left still hungry and frustrated, needing to find lunch elsewhere but short on time. Our waitress was pleasant and absolutely deserved the 25 percent tip we left her. However, service overall was disorganized. At one point she bumped into our table and did not even realize she was our assigned server. I had to explain that we had been waiting long enough and needed our children order taken immediately. To make matters worse, when we were leaving, a staff member exited the ladies restroom, which smelled terrible, and walked straight out without washing her hands. She passed directly in front of us. Between the excessive wait, poor food quality, lack of attentiveness, and hygiene concerns, this experience was unacceptable. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Enjoying a sunny day with our best friends from med school and residency who left the winters of PA behind to live in Florida. Celebrating life, family and friendship. Ordered a Mediterranean Skillet with skillet potatoes and a sunny side up egg. (You know I already looked at the quite extensive menu the night before.) My hubby ordered the same to match me. Our friends got a My Big Fat Greek Omelet and a Heathy Omelet with onions added. The skillet potatoes are more like a scalloped potato casserole. Milk, cream, cream cheese, scallions and shredded potatoes. So rich and creamy. The Mediterranean Skillet adds grilled red onions, mushrooms, peppers, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and a generous sprinkle of goat cheese. Topped with two eggs, it is decadently delicious. Bread options included scones, toast or biscuits. Our table tried all of them. My scone was so delicious. I only ate half because my skillet was so delicious and so filling. My friend loved her biscuit and my hubby loved his scone. Sophia was great. She kept checking on us with a warm smile and refills of coffee. Lots of parking on a Sunday morning. A great breakfast for four. Very reasonable prices for fresh skillets and omelets. Hopefully we will be back on another visit to the Sunshine State.
