The chicken was juicy and the spice balance was perfect, it even came with a little side salad to help cleanse the palate. For main I opted for Haleem, which is a dish made from a mixture of lentils cooked with ground lamb cooked in a rich sauce. It came topped with crisp onions, stem ginger and coriander. This was a bit of a let down to be honest, the texture was peculiar and reminded me of melted cheese in that it was quite clumped together and stringy. Bit off putting really. The peshwari naan was exceptionally sweet - a little too close to being a breaded dessert to be honest. It wasn't the best food I've had on curry mile and the service was pretty average.

We ordered nan bread also, it was quite large so I became full before I could finish it ^^ We drank the House white wine, and my friends tried out the Cobra Indian beer. It went down well with the curry. The price was reasonable and the place overall was very nice. I've recommended the place to a few of my friends already. I'll definitely be going again the next time i'm in Huddersfield.

Second time I've been to Akbar's and loved it both times…read more Unlike many Indian restaurants which tend to be dark, cramped and not very up marker, Akbar's has a bright, spacious, clean and just generally nice atmosphere. There are tons of seats but it works with the layout. Staff are friendly and timely too, which is always a plus. And now... the food. Amazing Indian food. I'm basing this mostly on a butter chicken curry to die for. Basic, but brilliant. The naan is also great and it hangs on a upright stand which is interesting. I also had a daal and some onion Bhajis to start. Both pretty decent. The papadums are no different to other good Indians but are equally good. A classic British curry house doesn't exist without a good range of beers. Akbar's is no exception and is great for groups. There were two birthday groups while we were eating and the music suddenly swapped and started playing some Birthday music. Not the biggest fan and made the place seem a bit tacky. All in all, a great place to come for a cheeky curry, with a group of friends or family but not so great for formal or special occasions.
