Original tasting curries with great depth of flavour. I recommend the daigi lamb.

This place in the 80's was AMAZING, Fresh food, great vibe but sadly a recent visit on a Friday…read morenight was so mediocre. All you can eat buffet on all night on a Friday / no a la carte? come on this was fine dining Indian style lovely cosy decor, great service, illegal immigrants in the kitchen (best chefs - their cooking is so focused when they know they are only 1 bhaji away from being deported at gunpont) After coming here on and off since 1981 this will probably be the last. Modern Indians like Zouk in Bradford & Manchester are the benchmark in 2009 that all these places should be looking up to to help bring their restaurants forward. Amen.

Absolutely appauling…read more We went here last year and found the Korma to be a bit 'tangy' so we think perhaps the cream was a bit off. Anyway, 1 year later and we thought we would give it another go and see what happens, and we can deffinately say that there shall be no 3rd chance for this 'resturant'. My husband and I went here for our lunch about 2 weeks ago and and before I sat down, I went to the toilets. My tip is, ALWAYS check the toilets first, we learnt in food hygiene courses to do this, because if they haven't cleaned the toilets then you can just imagine what the kitchen is like, but also because the chefs need to go in and out of the kitchen and toilets so they will be bringing back germs to the kitchens. The toilets were disgusting! Considering that they had only just opened for the lunch rush you'd assume that the place would have been properly cleaned - NOPE. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a disgusting and unknown smell and right infront of you you can see the toilets, underneath the toilet lids you could see the splashback from people flushing the chains. The floors were sticky too. I was ready to walk out there and then and I wish I had, but my husband had already ordered for us. It's a buffet, but they make you up a starter and this had been ordered so we stayed. The starter was 1 lump of chicken, some weird star shaped 'thing' and then the cabbage and tomatoe salad. Well, the cabbage was obviously from the day before, it had all be chopped up and every peice was browning, the tomatoes had no moisture at all and seeing as this place had only just opened and would have been making their foods etc, the popadoms were stale. Still, we stayed :/ We then went up to help ourselves to the buffet of different dishes and rices. The rices were only JUST warm and very rubbery, and the Korma was a weird yellow/orange colour and looked like the jar Korma stuff that Iceland produces. Most of the Korma in the catering/heating dishes mainly contained sauce, it was difficult to pick out the chicken, My husband then took a bite out of the chicken and spat it back out as it was stone cold. We refused to pay the entire amount, but as we ate the starter, we did pay for that. Absolutely disgusting, and also reported to the environmental health. The lady next to us had complained to her friend that something she was eating was RAW, so that's not very good either. Never again. Stay clear!

I thought it was excellent I'm a seasoned curry addict and…read morethe menu was well thought out with different ingredients in the presented dishes but more about that later. Test number one the minute you see 'naga' mentioned is "is it Mr Naga?" Or "is it fresh" An immediate pass ... It was fresh ! Obviously enough attention to detail and ingredients to be better than the 'oh Nagasaki don't last long you see so we use Mr Naga" Ps:just realised not everyone will know what I mean but if you do you'll really love this restaurant. Black mustard seeds with sweet corn amongst chilli yoghurt and spiced onions to accompany the Papadoms. Very nice . Chicken liver appetiser and onion bhajis crispy fried and dark too went down a treat ... No soggy middle bit :-) Thin chappatthi with deep flavoured curry and a lovely aloo gobi side dish. We were treated to a small taster of 'sexy mushrooms' which if you can ever make a mushroom sexy did actually get off the mark ! Creamy spicy and errrm mushroomy too :-) Look forward to trying this little gem again for an intimate atmosphere and nice decor in a modern yet trad Indian restaurant style ...

My experience of eating at Balooshai was a lot different We came in around 8PM on a Thursday when…read moreit was quite busy but they managed to serve the food quickly. The curry we ordered was spicy and had a rich flavour. We ordered nan bread also, it was quite large so I became full before I could finish it ^^ We drank the House white wine, and my friends tried out the Cobra Indian beer. It went down well with the curry. The price was reasonable and the place overall was very nice. I've recommended the place to a few of my friends already. I'll definitely be going again the next time i'm in Huddersfield.
