What a mistake that was, i only wish i had read the reviews beforehand as our experience basically mirrored what other people said in their reviews. When we entered the restaurant, we were seated virtually straight away at a window corner table, there were 5 chairs to the table but virtually a third of the table was pushed in to the corner so unusable, we decided to pull it out slightly and move a chair to make more room. people were then seated to the back of us and to the right of us and essentially, we were all rubbing seat backs, not very good at all. we ordered then went to salad bar and before we had even finished the salad which was maybe 5 minutes from ordering, the food then arrived, how on earth could it all have been cooked fresh in 5 minutes! it couldn't have! of which I'll explain later... when the food arrived there looked to be less than our previous visit and looking at the menu of what you get for an extra £17 approximately, is half of a barbeque starter which that in itself is only about £11.50.. so what an absolute con!!! wouldn't have been so bad if you had extra curry. but maybe that wasn't a bad thing at all as the night went on!! regarding the food the curry was ok but not as good as last time and the chops and chicken wings were black and burnt, plus they were so small hardly any meat on them at all. another thing that was off putting was a waiter stood there staring at you, soon as you were finished, they swooped in and cleared the table. When we left, we went for a walk around the park, I didn't feel right at all, my partner was ok as she only really had a little bit of the curry and a bit of salad. we all went our separate ways and i got a phone call the following morning from one of the friends who went out with us, asking me if I was ok. I wasn't, I had been up half the night backwards and forward to the toilet, it also transpired so had my two friends! we went on Saturday evening, today is Monday and he is still suffering. Our guess is that some off the food was precooked and then reheated hence the super quick time it was brought to our table. so never again, Kabana needs to up there game and look after their customers... oh and another thing... for what you pay the portions are really not worth it.

Customer service is EXCELLENT, which is another essential. My only bit of advice I can give this company is to ensure good value for money, as on occaision I have noticed they have used less chicken in their dishes and more bulked out with sauce and peppers. If they can stay consistent with a decent amount of chicken in their dishes, then I would and will happily give them a 5 star review. Great tasting food and great service. This is a good recommended place.

Our starters of spicy chickpeas and potatoes served in a rolled up puri was melt in the mouth delicious and mine of spicy haddock served on a sizzler plate with lots of spicy onions were the best I've had anywhere. The mains were just as delicious, the paratha bread was light and flaky. The décor is light, modern and clean and the staff are very helpful. Modern Indians like Zouk in Bradford & Manchester are the benchmark in 2009 that all these places should be looking up to to help bring their restaurants forward. Amen.

Anyway, 1 year later and we thought we would give it another go and see what happens, and we can deffinately say that there shall be no 3rd chance for this 'resturant'. My husband and I went here for our lunch about 2 weeks ago and and before I sat down, I went to the toilets. My tip is, ALWAYS check the toilets first, we learnt in food hygiene courses to do this, because if they haven't cleaned the toilets then you can just imagine what the kitchen is like, but also because the chefs need to go in and out of the kitchen and toilets so they will be bringing back germs to the kitchens. The toilets were disgusting! Considering that they had only just opened for the lunch rush you'd assume that the place would have been properly cleaned - NOPE. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a disgusting and unknown smell and right infront of you you can see the toilets, underneath the toilet lids you could see the splashback from people flushing the chains. The floors were sticky too. I was ready to walk out there and then and I wish I had, but my husband had already ordered for us. It's a buffet, but they make you up a starter and this had been ordered so we stayed. The starter was 1 lump of chicken, some weird star shaped 'thing' and then the cabbage and tomatoe salad. Well, the cabbage was obviously from the day before, it had all be chopped up and every peice was browning, the tomatoes had no moisture at all and seeing as this place had only just opened and would have been making their foods etc, the popadoms were stale. Still, we stayed :/ We then went up to help ourselves to the buffet of different dishes and rices. The rices were only JUST warm and very rubbery, and the Korma was a weird yellow/orange colour and looked like the jar Korma stuff that Iceland produces. Most of the Korma in the catering/heating dishes mainly contained sauce, it was difficult to pick out the chicken, My husband then took a bite out of the chicken and spat it back out as it was stone cold. We refused to pay the entire amount, but as we ate the starter, we did pay for that. Absolutely disgusting, and also reported to the environmental health. The lady next to us had complained to her friend that something she was eating was RAW, so that's not very good either. Never again. Stay clear!

However my main course of Paneer Dhansak was delicious, the chapattis are the best I've had anywhere, we've been many times and they are consistenly good. My partner had lamb chops for starter and chicken madras for main, he said both were cooked to perfection. Dont be put off by the way it looks on the outside, as we were for a long time - the windows are blocked out and it looks a bit like a brothel from the old wild west(sorry no offence intended) however inside its much nicer, of course it has tat vintage indian restuarant decor which makes it all the more lovelable. The table planning is great, you can have a quiet meal for 2 in a recess table of your own and not be disturbed by the larger parties occupying the spacious open plan section of the restuarant. The food was delicious, My husband enjoyed a milder vegetarian creamy dish and I went for a madras style king prawn balti- both were lovely and the lemon rice was to die for! even the popadoms and pickles seemed better prepared than most places. the staff were fantastic, friendly and respectful and I was even given a flower as I left- how charming was that! It was one of the few places open near Deans Clough on Boxing Day and I am so happy my cousin & I found it. I tasted 3 different chicken dishes and my favorite was the kebab. It had numerous herbs layered within the meat - it was almost like a chicken sausage. Very flavorful and sumptuous. All of the vegetable dishes I had were very good. I highly recommend Babar Khan!
