Amazing first time at K9 Grillz Costa Mesa with my 9 year-old! She is super shy, but he did an amazing job with her! I am embarrassed that I haven't taken care of her teeth before, but I know it is never too late to take care of your dog's health. I will 100% keep up her dental cleaning routine going forward now that I have found this place. She has never gotten her teeth cleaned before because I was afraid of putting her under with anesthesia. My friend's dog never woke up when she went under. I had an appt at the Costa Mesa location and I think his name was Robby? He was so informative, professional, and made me feel very comfortable having him handle my dog. The exam and dental cleaning went great! I'm so happy he was able to do such an amazing dog with her teeth. I think they work with Healthy Spot pet store! I was required to pay inside with the ladies in the store. I used Apple Pay which was very convenient for me. I brought cash just in case, but they only take cards/Apple Pay. I decided to get some dog treats and a few toys while I waited a short 20 mins for him to finish her cleaning. I will routinely come back for teeth cleanings because I want my pup to maintain great dental hygiene now that I have found a place that doesn't put her under!! Plenty of parking in a private lot and by the street right nearby the Healthy Spot store.

Robby is the best at taking care of Ninja's teeth. She already knows the routine and lies her head on his lap while he cleans her teeth.

Great service and great staff! I've been taking my dog Ninja to K9 Grillz when they visit the Costa Mesa Healthy Spot for 7+ years now. And every time we go here, Robby and the team take extra care of Ninja and her teeth. I love their service and Ninja gets her teeth cleaned about every 3-4 months. Ninja is an older dog so to have a service that does not use anesthesia is great. Thank you Robby and the team at K9 Grillz!

I typically take my dog to the Hancock park location and the doctor has always been so nice and caring with my dog. You can tell they love animals and will always inform you on what's best for them. Coming from someone who is very overprotective of their dog I can say I will ALWAYS recommend this place!

Cannot speak more highly of K9 Grillz! The Tech RR (only have his initials from the report), that cleaned our small dog's teeth did an amazing job! He was so good with her and we couldn't be happier with the dental cleaning results. I would strongly recommend K9 Grillz for your pet!

ANESTHETIC FREE TEETH CLEANING WAS A SUCCESS =========================================== My furry family member does not do well with anesthesia, so I have been putting off getting his teeth cleaned for a really long time. I brush them myself, but he really needed some extra TLC in that department. About three months ago a good friend of mine recommended K9 Grillz, so I made an appointment. They did let me know that if there were any major dental problems that they would not be able to proceed with the cleaning. I think the charge for the inspection would have been $30.00. Tucker's teeth had no major problems, so they were able to proceed. I was very happy with the end result and the total charge was $170.00 with the recommendation to bring him back in six months. I think Tucker and I can handle that. They work out of a beautiful Mercedes van that they park at various Healthy Spot locations during the month. I chose their monthly visit at Healthy Spot in Pasadena. It is right around the corner from Urth Cafe so you can run over and grab a coffee really quick while your furry family member is getting his or her teeth cleaned. I recommend them if you are looking for an alternative to anesthesia.

My dog teeth are cleaned in Berkeley at Healthy Spot. Glad I found this business. I save a lot of money by not putting my dog through anesthesia. I have his teeth cleaned twice annually. Sometimes three times. Well worth it. Have a hard time cleaning my dogs teeth. Rather have him eat healthy and have his teeth cleaned by K9 Grillz. Price is reasonable. My dog is more comfortable than he is at a vet for general appointments. Paid about $250.

    Makena G.

My dog had his teeth cleaned by K9 Grillz in Berkeley. Usually my dog is nervous when seeing a vet. My dog began peeing as I handed him to K9 Grillz. I would recommend pet owners attempting to use their service. Dental health is critical. They examine your dog well and perform a physical. If your dog is not complying, they will not force the service. It's worth the exam at least and opinion by a dentist who is not affiliated with a Vet. I will continue booking appointments. The price is reasonable. Anesthesia is dangerous. For your pets sake, it's worth a try.

I am honestly blown away by what a good experience this was! My dog is almost 14 and she has never had a real dental exam so I was very nervous. Dr Thomas was very calm and answered all my questions. The exam and cleaning was only about 20 min and I could not believe the difference in my dogs teeth- I really couldn't believe it - they got off 13 years of plaque! Yikes. He explained that they are unable to "force" dogs to cooperate and that if there are bad fractures or more extensive damage then I would have to take her to the vet. But to have this done without sedation was awesome! I'll keep up her dental care with them for sure! So happy

How much is the current price of the cleanings, plus the exam?

I think $250 total for exam and cleaning. Our dog only got the exam and not the cleaning because of extensive issues. Exam only was $40.

Do you metal cap / crown dog's teeth?

I am not completely certain, but I don't think they perform any medical procedures. They purely clean the teeth.

With this type of cleaning without anesthesia is it possible to get underneath the pets gums? I read a response recently from someone stating that most bacteria is under the gums so this wasn't a good option. My dog is 11.

Thanks for the question. This is a common misconception. We thoroughly screen patients for issues that must be dealt w/ under general anesthesia (GA) i.e. loose teeth, deep pockets, significant infections etc & if found, send them to anesthesia. If… Read more

How much is it for a teeth cleaning for my chihuahua mix?

Los Angeles current prices as of 9/1/2019 - $30 for exam and an additional $125 for prophylaxis (cleaning) = total $155 for completed non-anesthetic dental. K9 Grillz does not offer first time clients a discount. Perhaps the discount the client… Read more

Is there just the one location? Or do you have multiple locations in the LA Area?

Please visit our website and go to our schedule and locations page. We are at over 15 locations all over LA, SFV, Long Beach, Orange County and we will soon be in San Fran. You can also visit our Instagram and look at our highlights/locations.

Are x-rays included in their service or is that extra the $155? And, what service is included?

Please send a direct message for response. Thank you

Do you only accept cash or debit too?

Payment is taken by our partners Healthy Spot. They take cash, credit and debit card. There is one known exception - Healthy Spot Century City is credit/debit only - no cash at that location.

How long is the process? I'm planning on taking my dog tomorrow but I live far from the location so I wanted to know an estimate time that it takes? Also what shots are required?

    20-30 minutes

I've always struggled with brushing my Maltese teeth and has now caused tartar build up and bad breath. Would he be a candidate for the non-anesthetic cleaning? If so, what's the price?

Hi Jay, I think any size/breed is a candidate. They examined my dog first to determine if he was amenable to the procedure (i.e., wouldn't bite!) before going ahead with the cleaning. I remember the cost was around $160.

How much does a non-anesthetic cleaning cost?

A total of $155. This includes a $30 exam fee, which is the only thing you would pay if the doctor finds a problem with your pet, that would require anesthesia to correct. (Needing teeth extracted is one example that would disqualify your pet from… Read more

My cat pictured in my original review passed away a few years ago and after she passed I decided I was ready for a dog and along came Georgie. A goofy, fluffy, loyal Goldendoodle. His fur is on the curly side taking after his poodle genes. I've taken him to Posh for a bath and haircut several times and he's been to daycare many many times. I've never really had a bad experience. However, this most recent time was extremely disappointing and quite literally heartbreaking. I made an appointment for a haircut and bath + daycare. When I arrived I was greeted by their friendly staff as always then by Jeanine. She was pleasant and friendly but had all of these additional charges that she added on at the beginning of my service. I'll break it down below and explain. Mattes: my dog had mattes on his legs and body. I was aware and was prepared to pay the fee to take them out. Poodle feet: she said there was an additional fee to shave his feet? However at the end I didn't see any sign of poodle feet. Flea bath: because of the itching she recommended a flea bath, granted she did find 1 singular flea on him so that's fair. I also mentioned to her that he is on a flea medication. I check him regularly and have yet to find a flea. Shave fee?: additional charge to shave him I guess Cancellation fee: I live 2 hours away (recently moved out of the area) but wanted to stay loyal to Poshpetcare. Unfortunately I had made an appointment in March and had to reschedule for the following day within the 24hr window so they charged me a cancellation fee. I've never canceled within 24 hours and have been loyal to them For many years. This really hurt my feelings. I wouldn't cancel last minute and mess with someone's money. I simply rescheduled for the following day. They had lots of availability too so it's not like the appointment time was in high demand. When my dog came out he literally looked like a rat. His beautiful fur had been vandalized. It broke my heart and I just felt so bad. Like how could someone do this to him? If this was going to be the outcome they should've turned me away or shown me pictures of the absolute horror I was not prepared for. The poor front desk man knew how devastated I was. I got into my car and literally wanted to like blow up but I had to keep my cool bc I'm an adult lol. I've put two pictures below. One of his haircut done by Puppy Prom on 3rd and another by Poshpetcare. I go between the two businesses because Puppy prom isn't open on weekends and Posh is. I spent $300 for him to be shaved and given an uneven head haircut. I'm absolutely devastated. He's still the same happy pup but I just feel so bad that I did this to him. I highly recommend any Doodle owners take their pups to Puppy Prom on 3rd st. It's less than a mile away. Ask for David. He's the owner and will make your pup look like an absolute show dog. Also, everything is included in their flat rate. No "poodle feet" or "extra shampoo" fees. I've learned my lesson and do not plan to return to Poshpetcare. After spending over $12k in services over the years, my heart is broken. If you're a cat owner, I highly recommend Sabina at Poshpetcare. She's an absolute doll and takes exceptional care of your precious babies. Attention Doodle Owners!!! Puppy Prom

Watching him suffer like this has been awful. I had to rush him to the vet at 9am and spend an additional $400 for treatment, medication, and care due to the severity of the infections. What makes this even more upsetting is learning that your groomers are trained to bathe dogs without using cotton balls in their ears. That seems incredibly counterproductive and unsafe, especially considering how easily water can get trapped and lead to ear infections. Louie has never experienced anything like this before, and it is heartbreaking seeing him in so much pain over something that should have been a routine grooming appointment. I also have videos showing the condition he was in afterward, including the head tilt and discomfort he's been experiencing.
