One of our 9 strays
Lupe M.

My son takes care of strays on top of the cats and dogs we have indoors. He works graveyard so as grandma I oversee their care. I have cameras everywhere. Well one of the strays shows up with a hole in the middle of his throat. You could see the insides. Called various places with higher ratings for nothing. They wanted money up front to hold an appointment or they had no space. It's your job I'm telling you there's a hole and you say no space. Here they saw him took care of him stayed open late until he came out of the anesthesia and then I picked him up at 10:30 pm!! If this isn't amazing service than I don't know what is!! They have a fan and a loyal customer with my zoo!!

Thank you to the entire DTLA vets staff! My senior dog was attacked & their urgent care was able to quickly accommodate my fur baby. The office space is nice, clean, and quiet. Their staff was very welcoming and patient with my pitbull - they really made us feel comfortable during such a stressing time. Service was prompt, plenty of transparency and communication, and super friendly staff! 10/10 would recommend!

The best animal clinic in downtown. they are very professional and knowledgeable whatever they are doing. I was traveling outside of the country and they helped me to get my Cat health certification very quick without any stress. Jáime helped me a lot. my dr was very professional and kind. I love this Clinic so much thank you for everything. on my appointment time, I didn't wait even a minute they know what they are doing.

This business has helped my dog (dogs) so many times. A year ago, Pablo was attacked by another dog and developed an enormous abscess at the site of the bite. I took him in during their urgent care hours and they operated on him right away. On another occasion, I thought he was having a stroke and they took him in right away. His symptoms were genuinely terrifying. The doctor assured me he was "just high." What?? Ok. Naughty boy ate some marijuana?? Didn't change the way they treated me... they were still really nice and understanding. Also, I was taking my elderly dog, Marley, for pain management, and Dr. Coward took such good care of her. We tried lots of things to help ease her suffering and eventually it was time to say goodbye. And so it was at this office that she went to sleep for the last time. It was so peaceful I thought, jeez can I come here when it's time for me to go? Seriously. My baby Marley was treated so well at the end of her life. I don't know if it's too expensive or what ... I don't care. They have helped my pups through so many trials and tribulations. They always see me right away. They know and love my dog.

I came in worried about my frenchie who had been having diarrhea for 3 days. At that point I was tired of trying everything else and decided to bring him in even though I knew it would be a stressful situation for him. Dr. Coward and the rest of the wonderful staff made Bluey comfortable and ran all the appropriate tests. Bluey got better in around 3 days and I'm so thankful to all of them! In my experience, they were very empathetic and supportive, I would definitely recommend this place.

I like this place because the waiting area is relaxing and the staff is so friendly. We brought our little rescue and everyone was helpful. Thank you!

I am SO happy I decided to go with this vet when moving to the city. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. As soon as we walk in, they come out to say hello to my pup and give her lots of love. Dr. Coward and Dr. Endo have been fabulous and really know their stuff. I definitely feel like she is in good hands here.

This is me waiting outside in the cold with my sick/shivering dog because they "can't man the waiting room."

TLDR: They killed my dog, and the customer service is terrible. Don't come here with anything if you think it's serious. They will run expensive diagnostics, and push you to an animal hospital without stabilization. I will be reporting them to the board. I came here, they ran diagnostics, identified him as a critical patient and did nothing to stabilize him. His pulse was 40 when I got to the hospital. We were told he might need surgery, and advised to go to an animal hospital. By the time I got him to the hospital, he was in critical condition, faint heartbeat, eyes dilated, pooped on me and lifeless. The hospital tried everything they could but he was too weak to recover from surgery. They asked me repeatedly why the vet didn't stabilize him. I don't know.. The front desk customer service is also terrible. I didn't catch the two ladies names but even when you have an appointment, they will make you sit outside with your sick pet in the cold/rain while they sit in the comfortable lobby because "they are understaffed," and gaslight you for getting upset.

Rest in paradise my sweet baby

Ask the Community - DTLAvets

How much is a feline annual wellness exam?

Does this business accept pet insurance?

That's not how pet insurance works. You pay your vet bill out of your pocket, and then submit the claim and receipts to the pet insurance company and wait for reimbursement.

What is the pricing for a teeth cleaning and possible extraction?

I got a quote for my dog (30lbs) and with an estimated 6 extractions it was estimated $1200 and without the extractions somewhere around $900.

Does it have parking?

There's parking right next door to the left of the entrance. Unfortunately they don't validate though.

I faced the difficult decision of euthanizing my beloved pet. During this time, this facility offered a compassionate environment, and the staff demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and support throughout the process. Their team ensured that my pet was able to pass with dignity and comfort. I am sincerely grateful to all of them, especially Ashley, who took the time to hand-sketch my dog on the condolence card they provided! She's an amazing artist btw! My pet was been seen at this office for many years, and I wish I had known about their care from the very beginning when I first adopted my dog. I also have cats who continue to be cared for here, which gives me additional confidence remaining with their services. Thank you all at Grand Park Animal Hospital. Your compassion, professionalism, and support during a difficult chapter in my life, meant a great deal to me. My gratitude is reflected by the kindness you extend to your clients and their furry loved ones!

I've been to other hospitals before where I sometimes felt overwhelmed by too many tests and recommendations, so I was worried at first. However, this hospital was completely different. They never pushed unnecessary treatments or exams, and they took the time to clearly explain why each treatment or recommendation was needed in a way that was easy for me to understand as a pet owner. That made me feel very comfortable and confident trusting them with my pet. Another surprising thing was how professional and detail-oriented the receptionists were. They carefully checked all the documents I needed multiple times to make sure everything was correct. Everyone here was honest, trustworthy, and genuinely caring!!!

Recently brought one of our dogs here for a serious issue. We never even saw the doctor, only spoke to them through a phone call even though we were at the office. After speaking to the doctor, the assistant presented the estimate very matter of factly. We declined one of the procedures. 3 hours later when it was time to pay they tried to charge us for the declined service even though it clearly was written on the estimate that it was declined. The absolute worse part is that after coming home, our other dog developed the same symptoms as our dog we had brought in. We called them back and asked to speak to the doctor for counsel. They had no idea who the doctor was. Finally we were told the doctor would call us back. We never received a call and our other dog passed away that night. Obviously we were gutted and when we took our deceased dog in for afterlife care the next day, the receptionist just shoves the brochure at us and gives us prices. Not even a simple sorry or modicum of concern. They dont care about your pets. I write this because I dont want someone else to potentially feel the pain we feel for waiting for these folks to call you back and having something horrible happen.

Finn is extremely shy and particular, and giving him fluids at home just isn't an option. We also made the intentional choice not to associate his one safe space, home, with anything painful. At the clinic, it sometimes takes three nurses to support him, one to gently hold him, one to feed him churro (his favorite distraction), and one to administer fluids. And they do it all with so much patience, compassion, and genuine care. Because of this team, Finn is not only stable, he's doing so well. Truly, I believe they've saved his life. My Dutchess and I felt very taken care of by them, and I felt that the tests they recommended were worth it. Unfortunately, about a week ago, after Dutchess suffered back to back seizures and a stroke, Dr. C was very upfront with me about recommending that I put my sweet girl to sleep, and that any further testing would just be a waste of money. I respect her honesty and care with which she delivered the news. I was hysterical, but I realized that she was right -- my baby would never be able to walk, run or jump as normal. It was up to me to give her a dignified goodbye. As I was crying in the exam room after I received the news, one of the techs, a smaller woman with black hair and a ponytail who was always so kind to my baby, came in and told me how good of a mom I was this whole time. Those words of kindness really touched my heart. They facilitated and accommodated me during this difficult time. I asked if they did at home euthanasia and Dr. C was kind enough to provide this service for me. She was empathetic and respectful of my feelings and even comforted me during and after the procedure. I even noticed the care with which she wrapped my baby's body after it. After she was carried out, Dr. C extended words of comfort and acknowledged the deep pain I was in. I will always remember her kindness. Thank you to the staff and vets at Little Tokyo Pet Clinic for the excellent care they have given Dutchess, and even myself. Because I had to go to work/could not cancel, I opted to do the day after. The estimate at MASH is $6,000-8,000 but here it was around $4500. I dropped my cat off early on Wednesday for his check-up, test, and surgery. Ultimately, they disagreed with the vets at MASH and said my cat had no crystals either in x-ray or in his urinalysis but did have a UTI which contributed to a second blockage (bladder overflow). They kept him for 48-hours to unblock and recover. This cost around $2K. At MASH where he had done the same 2 days earlier, it was $6K When MASH returned my cat, he was rough. He reeked of pee, his face was completely crusted/sticky with dried medicine, his fur was full of shed, and he was lethargic and in pain despite all the medicines. When Affordable returned him, my cat was bright and energetic. They clearly took care of him (he smelled like a baby wipe). It has been about a week since I brought him home, but I knew immediately that he was feeling better the day I picked him up. Now, he has completely recovered. Back to flinging himself around and meowing at 4 am. I am incredibly grateful to this hospital for their responsiveness, flexibility, affordability, and the kindness they showed my cat. I was worried that I would end up losing my cat (I had paid nearly $7K at MASH and he wasn't better) if he blocked again, but Dr. Barrera said that I should "give my cat a chance." He said that it is what he would do if it were his cat. I'm grateful that I did because it saved him from unnecessary surgeries. My cat was seen by Dr. Forsythe and Dr. Barrera and they both were very kind and gentle with him. I do see what some reviews mean about their disorganization. They forgot to call me to update me that he wasn't getting the surgery but would need to be hospitalized. I had to call them, but it turned out that Dr. Forsythe had gotten very sick. He returned my call despite being audibly quite sick and given that my cat needed the hospitalization anyways (and he was fine), I can see how it slipped through the cracks. They seem to accommodate all kinds of emergencies as best as they can, so I think a little disorganization is totally ok. I do think Dr. Forsythe needs a new phone. It sounded like he was calling from a remote cabin or from a phone that fell off a cliff. I had to listen to the voicemail at max volume more than once. I will likely return again/switch my primary vet to this one because it is closer, cheaper, and I had a great experience. And apparently, my shy scaredy cat enjoyed the attention he received here. There are some more "affordable" vets but in terms of quality/expertise, this hospital is well worth the price. When I called around to vets in Los Angeles for cystotomy prices, Ambassador Dog & Cat Hospital were the only ones that actually do it (many don't update their sites) that are near me (don't have a car) and their estimated price was also the same $4500. They are also roughly the same prices of my long-time vet (Beverly Robertson, wonderful, estimated $4K for procedure) and especially after going to MASH, these prices might as well be pennies. CareCredit is accepted basically everywhere, but what's nice about this hospital is that they accept ScratchPay which is a god send for emergency vet loans. This hospital is in an old building, but is still very nice and clean. Maybe not as sparkling as a brand new facility, but on par with the vets I've gone to over my lifetime.

We went through seeing the vet and got x-rays. The procedure was for Rivers to send the x-rays to their ortho team for consultation. We never received the consultation. Instead the manager, Sergio, who is a tech and not a trained and licensed veterinarian, told us he "did us a solid" and talked to his ortho friends and "confirmed" that our dog did not have a ligament torn. Again, Sergio is a not a vet and made that call. As a result, we took our dog to physical therapy and never saw improvement for months because of this false diagnosis. Finally we took our dog to another vet to get a second opinion and they undeniably confirmed it was a ligament tear. We went back a second time to Rivers and had our first and last visit with Dr. Acosta. I don't say this as an exaggeration - Dr. Acosta was rude and confrontational the entire visit. When I tried to calm her anger and explain to the best of my ability what's going on with my dog's leg, she belittled and attacked me for not knowing the medical condition of my dog. I'm not a vet and I never claimed and somehow I was attacked for her it. It was clear the visit was about her ego and nothing else. Never in my 40 years of healthcare visits, human or animal, have I witnessed something like this. Let me make it clear that the rest of the staff was absolutely wonderful: both empathetic and professional. However with both Sergio and Acosta, this place is dangerous. I am also reporting Sergio to the California Veterinary Medical Board. I hope for the sake of Rivers and their staff, and all pet owners, that these two are removed.
