I took my grandson who was visiting for a day out. We did have a lot of fun. After mastering the check-in procedure we had to wait 30 minutes for some maintenance to be done, but that was fine. The staff was very helpful and polite, too. They weren't really busy, and we had plenty of room for sure! This is a cool place. Definitely something that not of a lot of places around have. It's an electric go cart joint where you're able to go in. And race, go carts indoors, which is pretty awesome when you think about it. You don't have to worry about the gasoline smell or the weird oil pits and staining throughout normal go cart. Tracks, everything's very clean. Everything's indoors, like I said they have multiple bars and places to eat, which is pretty cool. They have a stacking and ranking system. And they also have the ability to upgrade the speed in your go carts, which is pretty cool. Yes, it is expensive. However, you're getting what you pay for really when you think about it. It's a unique experience that you really can't find Outside of the area. It's very clean as good drinks. It has good drink prices. It has As decent food, I mean, come on expectations. It's a go cart place, right? They're good for parties and events which I've been to. At least one which is pretty cool. The way that they have it set up very competitive, very clean as they offer sanitary options like head. Socks and other things to make sure that everybody is safe. Keeps things clean. They have remote controls on the cars. So if anything goes haywire, or out of whack or needs to be modified, they can do so which is nice when you're dealing with children and teenagers or even adults that have had one too many. So it's a solid place. It's good. I would definitely recommend it. Give it about 3.5 stars. And the only reason of that is it's a little expensive. If they could tamper that down, that would be great food. Options, you probably don't want to eat there unless you want like little. Before you buy tickets to this place, I strongly recommend walking in to observe a few races and check out the safety situation. Are there enough staff members on the tracck with flags, actively ensuring everyone's staying safe? Are they ensuring the rules are followed and accidents are far and few between? The process for knowing when it's your turn to race needs work. Standing around, straining to hear muffled loudspeaker announcements, was frustrating and disorganized. And when someone in our party got hurt, getting an ice pack was a nightmare, and that was the extent of their concern. The karts were decently fast, but steering them took a ton of effort. I'm a stronger-than-average woman, and even I had sore arms for a full day afterward--something to consider if you're not used to that kind of strain.There was practically no one behind the cafe counter, leaving customers annoyed and unable to order food or drinks. There's a small arcade, which is okay, but the prices were outrageous, especially with the long wait times between races, it would be nice to have something to do.Understaffing was painfully obvious. They desperately needed more people on the track to enforce rules and keep things under control. There was way too much bumping, reckless driving, and accidents. I'm fine with the occasional spinout or slide, but when karts are crashing into each other like bumper cars, sounding like a 60-mph highway pileup, and one even goes airborne? That's a safety disaster. IMHO, adults only, at your own risk. read more

I booked a large group package as a team event with my coworkers. It's been two months and people are still talking about how much fun they had! Most of us had never been in a go-kart before and some people were hesitant to try it. We were allowed up to 3 races per person, and everyone ended up take full advantage of that. We did have some technical difficulties with karts randomly stopping, but the workers were able to get things back up and running each time. It was a serious adrenaline rush and brought out the competitive spirit in all of us. Our group also took advantage of the nice bar in the paddock area, and we ordered pretzel bites which were very tasty. The facility was clean and the workers were very helpful. I would definitely recommend K1 for a group outing if you're feeling the need for speed! Make sure that you are wearing comfortable clothes and closed toed shoes if you intend to race. I'd recommend leaving any valuables in your car in the large parking lot if you do not have someone to hold them while you are racing. All racers must be over 48 inches tall, and helmets are provided in three sizes. Do note that you are required to wear a ski mask-type head cover, provided with your racing fee, under the helmets for sanitary reasons. If you typically wear a hijab, wig, or high ponytail, you may need to remove it to fit on the head cover (there's a restroom right next to the track where you can do this in privacy). read more

Went this past weekend with a group of my friends and it was a great time as we were celebrating one of my friends 40th birthday! The instructors were great, the food was actually very good as well (sorry, I forgot to take pictures!!!), and the service overall was fantastic. I could see this being a great place for kids may be 10 and up, as it can be a little bit hardcore lol. The speed cars can go VERY fast!! I would recommend though :) read more

Took my son and a couple of his buddies (3 total) Saturday 11/2. Purchased 2 race package for each in part because check-in staff indicated wait time for initial race was about 20 mins. 2 hours later the boys raced their first race. We didn't stick around for the 2nd due to dinner plans- completely irresponsible to misjudge/advertise wait times by an order of magnitude. Had hoped for a fun bro-day, but left disappointed and much lighter in the wallet. Unlikely to come back again. read more

The cars have a lot of deficiencies and they be stopping the race almost once every lap

It was a fun experience for myself and the family however a man that was not a part of our group raced with us and we were not able to finish our laps. It was an uncomfortable situation. Track small. One track( they don't change the course layout) they just turn on the glow lights on glow day. There are clearly faster or less worn karts they only pull out/up if your one of them. The price for each person had me confused because first you'll most likely come with a partner or party and before buying a race you have to purchase a K1 license for each person so instead of this place giving you a solo price, a couples price, and a party price they give you this weird setup where each person pays $8 for an annual K1 license(useless), you can buy package races like 2 races, 3 races, etc. BUT if your with a partner they have to purchase their own race package because none of the race packages can be split even though you both paid for a K1 license, so basically if you decide to give this place your money and would like to actually have a good time without it being over in 10mins, you'll need about $125(no food or drink) for 30mins of racing around a small track smh. Why not just have annual license members pay $20-25 a month they walk in whenever they want with a 3 race max a week? They get to test drive new course ideas, and warm up laps before a race. I think the concept of the indoor go kart is great but they aren't executing it well. It's like they are gonna give you the bare minimum and find ways to take your money instead of really wanting to stamp their name as a worthy place to consistently visit. And FYI this is the ONLY indoor go kart track in Richmond so it's not much saying they are the best lol. read more

I went for the first Time and I had to wait 120 minutes before I got to race and I paid 30 dollars and I only got to race 8 minutes

Went here on 10/16/22 & I wouldn't recommend. Spent $35 /person on 1 race even thought they advertised $25 a race & didn't say anything about any extra. I know it's only $35 but the principal is my issue. The guy who "helped" us was an a-hole & talked about physically throwing us out of a cart if we touched a button on a cart, mind you I'm probably older than him & definitely more built & wouldn't touch something if u just say it, so threatening me was not appreciated. The cart I drove literally stopped about 7 times throughout the entire race, non exaggeration. We ordered food as soon as we checked in & didn't receive it until after our race was over. When we checked in there was a 45 minute wait already which is why we ordered food in the first place, there was 4 of us total and we ordered 2 chicken tenders & 3 fries, why it took 45 minutes plus our race time, no idea. They weren't busy & stuff like you'd think (no parties, not lots of people). We finally get our food and open to tiny, flimsy, clumped together shoestring fries, it was still good but you can tell it came out of a froze & refroze bag. My whole experience was a disappointment. Left there and had more fun next door at sky zone & a better bang for my bucks. I'd give no star if I could & won't be returning. This may sound like a stretch or something but i can reassure you this was my actual first & last experience @ this place I used to come to called Thunderbolt which is now K1Speed. Really wish I had video footage to show you all. This was my experience & hopefully no one else has to go through this, & if u try them please beware & go with low expectations. read more

What an awful experience. I took my 7 year old son to use a gift certificate he received for his birthday. They measured him before we even signed in/registered for a race. He was over the 48" requirement. When we got to the back, they got him into a go kart and said he was not tall enough. They then proceeded to make him get in and out of the kart to remeasure (which he was still well over the 48" height requirement) and readjust the seat. They finally said "Oh we're good, we didn't move the seat all the way forward." The race finally got underway and in the first lap he was hit by another driver (not unexpected with a bunch of kid driving around) then hit the wall (again, not unexpected) but was then EJECTED FROM HIS GO KART. With all of the in and out, they never made sure to recheck his buckle prior to the start of the race. Fortunately, he is just going to have a nasty bruise on his leg, but there was some serious negligence to safety procedures in this scenario. The staff was remarkably unapologetic. We will not be returning. read more
