Walked in signed up and paid, was told an hour and a half till our race. 2 and a half hours later we finally got in line to get in to the cars. People at front desk kept telling us we were "up next". This place needs to get their stuff together. No one seems to know exactly what's going on here. We've been waiting for 2 hours to race and every time we go to the desk and ask when we're up, we are told 20 more minutes, and this has already happened twice. The idea is perfect, the functionality of how the races are run and the accommodation for the adults standing around is less then desirable. Waiting for 3 hours would not be an issue is there was wifi for visitors to use or a place to even place to plug i a phone. Jr races are once every two adult races and if there is a party you get bumped. Again the accommodations for waiting parents needs to be evaluated to keep customers coming back. This might help explain the frustrated tone of the front desk explaining how they do things to every new parent. Disappointing! read more

K1 offers an exhilarating experience! Definitely recommended to those who enjoy some friendly competition. We were in Austin for the weekend and on a time crunch so we elected to make a party reservation for 9 people at a set time. Due to a computer malfunction, our reservation had to be changed but the staff and manger Anthony handled the problem very professionally which helped make the stress of having to change our plans easier. I didn't leave a very good review after my first visit but I decided to give this location another try tonight and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive to the racers and I was especially impressed by the way they handled a kids crash by taking him off the track and meeting him in the pits with ice and making sure was alright. I brought my sales team in for a team event. The atmosphere and track were impressive on first impression. The team was excited about the races and about half of us had been to a gokart track before. However, once the racing began, I was shocked at how unprofessional that the K1 employee was after two karts bumped each other around a turn. He stopped the race and yelled at one of the guys on my sales team for 30 seconds or so in a very demeaning way. Later in the race two other people hit each other around another turn. The same employee completely lost it. He was out of control screaming at the group something to the effect of, "I JUST told you to use your brakes! ..." He carried on for another 15 seconds or so of screaming (no exaggeration) before we finally got him to calm down. After the race, another employee apologized on behalf of the one that had lost control. It seemed like he had apologized for this guy many times before... This is a terrible way to treat customers. It's a shame, because the facility was pretty cool. If you are looking for an offsite event for work, steer clear of K1. read more

So much bad to say about this place, I showed up around 2-3pm on Sunday 5/23 they said they had a 3 hour wait. So I purchased 3 races each for me and my girlfriend, they said our estimated time was 5:30pm to race and was way delayed and for some reason kept us in speed 3 the entire race (I was honestly bored with how slow I was going) the so called "mechanic" who was running the races that night was an absolute ass and was disrespectful toward guests and employees and had to "test" a kart between every race.. so with my very long wait time I got thirsty and went into the the cafe and stood there for about 10 mins with no one in sight, I just went back out to the track ... after the first race I really wanted to get a refund and never come back but my girlfriend wanted to run the rest of our races. So we did and the so called "mechanic" that was there kept slowing the races down at the first slightest tire chirp and in his own words saying "I DONT HAVE TIME TO BE FIXING ALL THESE KARTS, Y'ALL GOING SLOW TONIGHT" read more

If you don't have a job or don't care about you time this place is for you. For everyone else don't waste your time and money. The workers are rude and they don't even pick up the phone! It's not $20 a race it's $30 because you have to pay for a membership too. If they tell you it's a 45 min wait it's more like a 3 hour wait! If any one comes in with a party you get bumped back. I got there at 3pm and didn't get out until 630pm. It's not worth the time or cash. The gocarts are fast but it over in less then 10min and most of the time your waiting due to people crashing. I've had a way better time at Austin park and pizza! It was $90 for 3 of us and it sucked, wish I could give it no stars. Kevin is a terrible manager, has absolutely no customer service skills. Terrible experience on the course, you have no control over the car. They stopped me twice in the middle of a race when cars were flying by me. It's awful to sit there and feel like someone is going to ram you. Kevin denied this happened and told me they never do that... Happened on two races in the same night! Then he wanted to argue with me about it, I just wanted to get out of there!!!! read more

I was very impressed with K1 as a business. There is some danger involved here, both to customers and to expensive equipment. In such a situation, I've often seen employees who seem grumpy and quick to scold. At K1 however, the employees were very helpful and encouraging. I expected a wait (we were there early on a Sunday afternoon) but we barely waited at all. As a matter of fact, it was hard to catch our breath between races, we were called up so quickly. The negatives: all the adults (though not the kid) got a bit queasy. The helmets are tight and it is impossible to hear when you're wearing them. But those are just the facts of the sport, not something to be held against the business! Some of the races were not as much fun because we were competing with reckless people, but that's also not K1's fault. I will definitely be recommending this place to all my adrenaline-junkie friends. Adventurous kids will love it. read more

We had a blast. Karts were quick. Course was challenging with enough speed to make it interesting. I'd go 5 stars if they could figure out a way to pair drivers with reasonably similar race speed. My 2nd race was interrupted 5 or 6 times by slow drivers spinning out or crashing in to each other. Its also quite expensive but they have to pay for the very nicely set up facilities and quick electric karts. Fun time but you will pay for it. If you really like it consider the membership. read more

Went on a Wednesday afternoon and sat around waiting for quite a while. The kids and I got pretty cranky and had to leave before racing. The manager was really nice and told us there is usually not a wait when they first open. Went back close to opening today, no wait and the manager remembered us and was really friendly. Nice waiting area and the cars are quiet enough that you can watch people race and still hear afterwards :) We will be back during low traffic times for sure. The kids had a great time! Very disappointing. Took my 12 year old and his 3 friends to K1 for his birthday. We registered there at 615pm for 2 races. We will not ruthe second race until after 10pm. I know what you are thinking. In a Friday they just had long waits. Ahh but that is not the case here. We were on the list. There was a two hour wait when we signed up. Then they started bumping us back. They told us multuple times "you are the next race", " you are 15 minutes from being called". More hours passed. Finally they were called for race 1. They explained that their policy is to have 2 races take place before you get your second race in. After 4 races we finally asked for an explanation from the manager. The manager said he was "not sure why we got pushed". He said they had a couple corporate events come in. Could they not have checked their own schedule so as to give an accurate expectation? Is there a reason why the corporate event was put in front of customers who had waited 4 hours? Evidently not. Or perhaps their watches run slower than mine such that 15min=2hrs. The race was fun. .. but the complete lack of customer service was ASTOUNDING. I would avoid this place. read more

After 3 separate circumstances where my party was not scheduled for our 2nd or 3rd races and left waiting I can't help but leave this review. I have been to this K1 speed 5+ times and overall, if you are there by yourself or during slow hours there are usually no issues. However, for some reason whenever they get busy, their employees consistently have caused my experience to be less than agreeable. I have had to apologize to my friends and family 3 different times on their behalf for errors that should not be made, let alone 3 different times. This location needs to address their lack of staff and furthermore needs to educate and train the ones they do have. Just be sure if you're taking people to call ahead to get an idea of wait times, once you're there confirm multiple times that they have scheduled you and your entire party for ALL the races you paid for and hopefully you'll have a better time than I have had. read more

We visited this place about 3 months ago when my husband and child (under age 8) both rode the carts. My son just met the height requirements and used the equipment with no problem. My son received his generic driver card & print out of lap results at the end of all races. Fast forward to today when they both returned to race again. (We live about 1.5 hours away, so it's kinda a big deal to get over there). My son was so excited! They made him stand up against the height chart again and are claiming that he isn't tall enough to race this time. We took a photo showing that he clearly IS tall enough. I am not aware of any child that shrinks within 3 months?! They usually grow taller in my experience. Upon explaining that he was already here once and used the equipment AND has his name & info in the system they simply replied with, "sorry". That fixes everything!! I am all about safety just like the next parent but this decision was not the correct the one. Very disappointed in the training of the staff!!! Will definitely be finding a new location for his upcoming birthday party. read more

Don't go on a weekend, parties take priority and you will wait two hours before you can go. Teenagers will hit your cart pushing you out of the way being competive....completely takes the fun put of it. Safeties make you slow down because your cart stinks and you are constantly getting passed. Had my 45 birthday there yesterday. Invited a few friends. 6 or 7 of them showed up . Had a great time. Used a groupon, it would of been too expensive for us otherwise. Raced 4 times. Great staff and very impressed with the facilities. It's not like the tracks I used to go to in my youth. I have to say, the last race didn't go well. A different guy was managing the race. He was able to reduce the power in my car when I was having a great race with a friend. The power came back a little after we were separated by 25 yards or so. Me having a lack of power caused someone else to bump me, spin me and then crash over the front of the cart. The race was stopped and the 2 of us where pulled out of the race. It wouldn't of happened if the power in my cart was left alone. Will be back, but will know to talk to the manager before I race. read more

Probably the worst place in Austin experienced so far. We came in a group of 7 and all of us were told different wait times from 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hr 30 mins. All of the people at the counter looked irritated initially only and they said they don't call to notify as well. So we went somewhere else in the meanwhile to kill time and came back after 1 hr 45 mins. They mentioned that we called your name and you weren't there so now you have to wait for 2 more hours to get your turn. The lady at the counter clearly lied that she told the same 1hr 30 mins wait to all of us and said that you can take your refund but we can't let you race at that moment. This place is hands down the best spot to race at! Not only are the workers there nice and professional, but theyre more concerned about your safety which is obviously an important concept. They make such a big fuss when you get there about how you not allowed to bump each other and reckless drivers will be asked to leave but the same woman crashed into my fiance and I over and over again (resulting in serious back pain for my fiance).They do not flag appropriately for bad drivers/passing etc. The only saving grace was the nice woman at the front desk. Great time and safe. When you come in you fill out an online form and then you pay. From the lobby area you can see the racing but you don't hear it as it is soundproof--very nice. One if the people in our party has a sensitivity to noise and is very comfortable here. Next you go into the race center where you learn how to race. They are very thorough and pleasant. They provide a green cover for your head and then provide you with a helmet. The cars are surprisingly not crazy loud--it's more of the sound of an electric car going fast so if you're just going to watch, it is nice. There are places to sit inside at the track and also outside in the lobby. Nice comfy couches in the lobby and a few fun places to take some great pictures. 4 of the members in our group who ranges in age from 14 to 26 didn't seem to have high expectations because it is an indoor track. They ended up loving it and can't wait to go back. We had family visiting from PA and it was just a great way to spend some fun time together and create some memories. Highly recommended. read more

Fun experience for groups of 5-10. Plan ahead so you don't end up waiting too long. Prices weren't cheap but felt fair. We had a great time.

Fun place and my son enjoyed it immensely. However, it is a bit pricey if you ask me - hence the 3 starts. It's located in a business park, so you have to really look for it. Other than that, it's a fun place and would be great for team building and group activities. There's lots of seating for spectators and comfy seating. Pretty fun track. I went on a Tuesday so short wait & got my three races in under an hour. The price seems pretty standard with most karting but the staff slows down your kart if they don't think you're good, and a lot of the people there were ramming each other so everybody is getting slowed down. My GF got her car boosted via some flirting but then her kart started sparking & the staff ridiculed her for pulling over. Still fun but I'd say check out another location. read more

The place is clean and staff is friendly. If you get an online coupon you can do 3 races for $50 and it is a BLAST! It's a wait usually but you can watch what others do on track and just have fun. Loved the eco friendliness and of the carts operating on electric. I salute the team that handles the turns and the cart towing manually and by hand. It really takes a lot of effort. I do hope they either expand or make a good profit in the near future! This place gets two stars because the kids enjoyed the racing. Excluding that, there is nothing speedy about this place. What I was told would be a one-hour wait turned into 2 1/2 hours. Was also told you can't book a race time; but you can, which would have been nice for them to share when we called and said this was for a birthday party with eight kids. There is pretty much nothing to do while you wait (hours!) for your race, so go elsewhere to burn time. read more

Called one day in advance to make sure there wasn't any parties or anything when it opened at 10am. They said there was a party at 11 but if we got there early we would be able to race before that. So we get there 15 mins early the door is unlocked but they make us wait outside(it was raining lightly). When they let us in we go to sign in and I asked is there gonna be a wait because I saw a lot of people and they told us there was a karting academy until 11. Their employees aren't even aware of the schedule. Highly recommend anything else. read more
