Chris worked with her to redesign the room. He let her know exactly what to expect ( cool, because she was really nervous/obsessing about the whole project) and then delivered and installed a new wall of storage. She got cabinets, drawers, a closet and even a window seat (!) and it all happened exactly when he said it would. It looks fantastic, and it's all really functional. They…read morewere a reference from my Contractor and the fact they were a small business, I wanted to give them support. Initially the experience was good as the cabinets looked good. However, within the first couple of years, we noticed that the quality of the cabinets were starting to slowly deteriorate. One of the issues we started seeing was the paint started chipping and flaking off easily. Unfortunately, they only offer 1year warranty on their cabinets so we just lived with it. (We had 20 plus years original cabinets previously and did not encounter this type of issue.) So over 8 years now, I figured it's time to get these cabinets re-finished. So I decided to reach out California Custom Cabinets first thinking I was a prior customer and they might be able to provide the service or at least some guidance before I reached out to a painting company. I called the owner Kent and spoke to him on the phone and he asked me to send him some photos. I did that but from then on he just ignored my texts and calls. All I wanted was a little bit of help to see what the best route I should go and if they could provide that support if I paid. The fact that they were unwilling to even respond to a customer that had spent ~20k for cabinets with them, was very disappointing. I could buy cabinets at KZ for 1/3 the cost and they would probably hold up just as well but at least I know they will provide after sale support and answer a phone call. Overall I would give the cabinets a 3 star but the support 1 star unfortunately. After just completing a home remodel from my mom's house, I found going the custom cabinet route was over-rated. There are ton of options in the bay area with good looking PreFabs that have better quality and half the cost. This is my experience, hope this helps someone.

This was not a $20k or 30k job - it was much bigger. So we had to be absolutely sure of the craftsmanship, the customer service, and more. It had to be fully custom and absolutely world class quality to fit the quality of the home and kitchen remodel. Summary - they delivered beyond my absurdly high expectations. From the very start, my designer had a good feeling about Mike - he was very upfront and transparent, and his whole team was full of nice people. Shelly is very responsive and helpful even with the basic things - you can tell right away they care a lot about attention to detail and to customer service. We hired Mike over 5 others we considered, and he was the most expensive bid actually (not by too much, by about 5% more than the 2nd highest and about 10% more than the lowest). Hiring Dickinson Cabinetry proved to be one of the very best decisions we made in our 1 year long remodel. In the middle of supply chain issues and Covid, Mike was always honest about the timeline. It was a bit longer than I would have liked but that was no fault of Mike's - everything was delayed. But Mike was honest and helpful and level headed about it all. Then came the product and install date. Mike's team, led by Raul, came by for delivery right on time in the morning and let me just tell you - the QUALITY of these cabinets and the wood island is absolutely obvious.
