As a wedding venue (I've been to two weddings here now), it is ideal. First of all the bar is as long as the room is wide so there is no chance of a backlog at the bar. There are probably 10+ stalls in the bathrooms so plenty of room there and the sound system and DJ booth are all very professional. The venue holds up to 350 people, so it's big. The head table is raised up quite high with an elegant curtain backdrop and stage lighting which makes everyone extra beautiful for photographs. The speeches are also done on the stage so you can always see the speaker. Both weddings we've been to we've been very impressed with the food and service. I believe we had chicken cordon bleu and a prime rib at both. The food really was tender, juicy and flavourful. More than I can say about many wedding venues I've been to. They have a hot table for serving things like a poutine bar or an appetizer table with warm foods. The staff also comes around with hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. They have a 3rd level balcony that overlooks the dance floor for bigger parties (like the student events I've been to here). Another perk to the venue: The residences that are just steps away can house guests for much cheaper than any of the local hotels. Some of the best damned jazz on earth in fact has trotted through these doors including Alain Caron, Ted Quinlan, Dave Young, Rob Botos, and many MANY more. All world class. The owner will also talk briefly about the history of the farm if you are interested. Feel free to take picture, look around the farm, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Be aware they have a friendly cat and dog that love attentions. Other larger more commercialized lavender farm charge up to $13 for the entrance fee. This friendly family farm provide free workshop, I recommend visitors to at least do some small purchases inside their store. At the end, the family need to make a living :).

Check-in was fast, even with the long lines. What's interesting is that the front desk has these little assorted vitamin tablets to put in your complimentary water bottle. I've never seen that before, but maybe that's what happens in a country with socialized healthcare. I totally appreciate that! The room itself was clean. The AC worked fine. I find that the air can be dry in hotel rooms, but I didn't experience any issues. The lobby has a lot of seating. The on-site restaurant had good food and great service. The staff was VERY patient with my big and loud family, which I also appreciate. The property isn't too far from shopping and restaurants. Though it was summer so the weather was nice. I can't imagine walking in the middle of winter, though I guess walking would be safer than driving for me since I'm not used to driving in the snow. The nearest grocery store is like a 5-min walk so it is doable. I recommend this Marriott property if you need a place to stay in Waterloo since it's close to restaurants, shopping, and the university.

There are lots of restaurants nearby, including in the hotel. There is a fitness room, pool and hot tub but I didn't get a chance to check them out. My room had a mini fridge and a coffee maker. WIFI was complimentary and was speedy. There were two complimentary bottles of water. The bathroom had a large night light under the vanity (by the floor) that came on when I entered the room, which was handy when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

From the time we met with Laura Mulholland at Paletta Mansion, she was incredibly helpful, positive and just a joy to work with! The service staff through the Oakville Conference Centre made sure that the day went off without a hitch. The food was excellent, we had the chicken with potatoes and veggie side dish, and the portions and preparation were amazing! The salad starter was incredible (arugula and pear), and the dessert had people talking for days/weeks!! My bridal shower was an amazing day thanks to the people who helped in putting the day together. Paletta Mansion staff went above and beyond from the time I booked the venue to even after the venue was done. I wish we were getting married there. Just an incredibly beautiful spot!! They failed to mention that the weekend of my wedding is the Home Hardware Convention; ALL the hotels in the surrounding cities are booked. No one returned any of my calls or emails when trying to change my date. My trust with them diminished.They are not professional, educated or buisness-oriented. The owner spoke to my mother rudely and refused to compromise on returning some of the deposit given their lack of work on the wedding. I would rather lose my deposit than give them any more money. Brides and Grooms, RUN!
