Master Josh is outstanding. He's motivating, encouraging, and incredibly thorough in how he explains techniques and expectations. What really stands out is how much he genuinely cares about each student improving, no matter where they're starting from. He meets them where they are and pushes them to grow. Vaguely enough once I've been interacting via messenger they wanted me to pre-enroll via their webpage already asking me for a down payment. I felt that I was getting mixed signals. I really wanted to like this place because it's so conveniently located, but the constant request for signup/more money DURING the trial period was very tacky. I understand this is a business, but patience while kids get used to something new & while parents consider the $400/mo price tag for 2 kids is necessary. Also thought the $265/child price tag for required sparring gear was exorbitant. I found a set online for under $100. Also requested a price list & was told I received one previously. There is no doubt that the Grandmaster is a professional and the best there is but this school is largely focused on profit. My daughter attended for 1 year after which she just didn't want to go anymore. They say a child is promoted to next rank about every 2 months. This is all for show because to go belt to belt takes so much more dedication and time than 8 classes per month. I felt like kids are herded through the ranks and the ones that do receive the black belts really should not. I admit it was great exercise for my daughter but I really wished they were more serious about teaching properly and not push kids to advance when they are clearly not ready. Every time there is a test for next belt its money so that left me feeling like they are trying to rush things and the class ended up costing a lot with all fees and equipment combined. Another point is the scheduling of classes. It was not easy hauling my kid there right after work as it was the only time they had the class for her rank. They need a lot more weekend classes. Lastly, had my daughter wanted to keep going I would have never said no but she wasn't excited to attend and didn't ask to go so it's on to the next thing. read more

We signed our son up to Tae Kwon Do about a month and a half ago. We were looking for something to help bring him out of his shell a little as well as help us teach him respect, accountability and discipline. We signed up for the 9 week trial and had high hopes that our son would fall in love with Tae Kwon Do and find something to be passionate about. From day one, my husband and I were ready to sign him up for a year. We had the great pleasure of meeting Master Reymoore when we signed up, and it was icing on the cake that during our first class we saw just how wonderfully Master Reymoore interacted with our son. He has been encouraging, firm, fair, holds him accountable and is always available. Our son loves Tae Kwon Do now and that is largely due to Master Reymoore. Other instructors that are absolutely amazing with the kids are Instructor Burgess, Instructor Boquin and Instructor Roman. We have seen dramatic changes in our son in the little time we have been a part of this family! It has not only given us a firmer ground to stand on with his discipline but we can see his confidence grow daily. Base on first impression. The other two stars may had been included if I took a class to experience the energy myself. Walking in I knew I wasnt going to be greeted formally because most TKD Dojangs are pretty busy. But I was able to approach the head master's office and talk to him. I am from NYC and I am a member of a taekwondo Dojang so I wasnt looking to become a member at another Dojang. I was mainly looking for a place that I was able to just take one class per week just to keep up the training and meet new people outside of NYC even if it was just to help with a class while I am on vacation in California for three weeks. Nonetheless, the students look like they were enjoying their class. Head Master did come out to teach in detail and correct his students Poomsae which was the teen/adult class. Class before that was strictly grapple self defense which wasnt too bad. The only negative thing I can say (which i dont like doing) is the energy level. It may be just me or maybe some of the students were just tired but they didnt make me feel their energy, their excitement. Nonetheless, I may come around next year to join A class as not to be a member. read more

I really like JK Tae Kwon Do and its masters and instructors, especially Masters Reymoore and Audrey. They have a keen ability to both teach and motivate my 2 kids to not only learn tae kwon do but also to be more disciplined and confident individuals. My kids love to learn and to attend in spite of the hard work! Although at times it can may very commercial with multiple belts and belt stripes that seem just to "milk" more money from the student's parents than necessary, I DO see these as milestones or "baby steps" that children can easily use to foster their motivation to succeed. My nephew attends this company's class every week Monday to Friday. He's 10 years old and began a couple of months ago. The masters and instructors are all very nice. They teach discipline and respect. I hope that they expand soon to accommodate the large classes. Great instructors and staff....I was really impressed after enrolling my son for the black belt club that I also enrolled my 4 year old daughter. They take the time out to individually teach my daughter since she is only a white belt and my son is already an orange belt. My kids love it.
