K.Sing Restaurant Thai Viet & Laos food
192 Jackson St. Petone Lower Hutt, Wellington Capital Region
was the site of our evening meal today.
Appears we FIRST YELPers !
we had an errand nearby, this was google's highest rated restaurant at 4,5 on that scale...
Admittedly cuisine of Indochine isn't in my sweet spot, but when it's done really well....
we took a 'punt' as they say here...we chanced our arm....
and.....
found a car park within 5 mins walk, free evenings = good.
Table for two, please?
Do u have a reservation? No, can u accommodate us?
Hesitant, but ok....
They had a 745pm reservation, and we reassured we'd be long gone afore dat
so.
Being new to the area, 1st timers, we inquired of server to recommend their house specialty....
seems they don't exactly have one.....but
a lot of THIS noodle soup kinda like a laksa is ordered...okay we try dat then
AND that stir fry...choose beef is also popular...again ok...comes with steamed rice.
Mild chili level requested, but condiments please if we need to 'jazz it up' please, as we don't know what YOUR idea of mild is.
we have a lovely South Island dry Reisling byo which is okay too...no special stemware but hey.....
seated next to the drafty door open / closing / chilly early evening, twas a HIGH today of 50F / 10 C., so y'all know dat wasn't comfortable.
Order taken, food appeared in 15 mins ....most welcome...had a big walk round town, in and out of the National museum, so hungry and ready for 'action'.
Good lookin nicely presented bowls of steaming food.
Both dishes a generous size, lotsa veg, light on protein.
Decent flavours.
Healthy.
Nutritious.
Rice bog standard we barely touched that.
No tea offered, condiment forgotten, we searched for it ourselves minus a star.
Undistinguished standard belies the price point of 20++$ plus p/p for such a simple repaste.
Lose a star on the value scale.
Very young front of house staffers didn't 'add value' in the hospo stakes imho, but
Clean and tidy mom n pop shop business earns a solid THREE on the yelpmeter.
