I used my warranty through American home shield to replace a hot water heater. K & S quoted me $1920 more in labor and parts that should have been covered by American Homeshield. I went by the shop and spoke to Chris who knocked it down to $1670. Still not happy but the Installer Matthew was great, he did a great job. This company was selected by the 2-10 Home Warranty I have that came with the house. Found out I had pretty bad leak into the guest bedroom that soaked about a third of the carpet and hardwood in the hallway. Cut off the main and called 2-10 to get a supposedly Supreme Coverage claim for this leak. Anyway, they assigned this company. The date the initially tried schedule was not possible, so someone came yesterday, 4/28/26. The young man came in, no tools, no notes, no bag. He walks in and asks did I shut off the main supply, which I did days ago when the leak was discovered. He went and turn the main back on. Came back and said, Oh Wow that's a slab leak. A slab what? What is that? And it was like blood in the water from then on out. Oh yeah, I just left another home right up the street that has the same issues. Don't see how he seen all of that without any equipment. Then he stated that a specialist would be coming out within the next 24-48 hours to pinpoint the slab leak. He stated that it's not that bad of a leak and I can leave the water on and do what I normally do until the specialist comes to pinpoint the leak, so I did (which helped proved the leak was actually coming from inside the walls and not the slab!) Have plenty of photos and videos (technology!) By the end of business today, I suddenly get a response from 2-10 stating that the report from the contractor was submitted to them earlier, wait what? What report? I'm under the assumption this so called report couldn't be done until their specialist pinpoint the leak. Red Flags!!!!! Then the only thing out of the entire estimate they were going to cover was $500 and I was stuck out of pocket for the remainder of a $4,600 estimate because they did not cover the equipment and labor of busting up the slab and repairs. Wait....what happened to the specialists? How did you blindly accept that outrageous estimate with hearing anything from the customer? Then a poultry $500 after 10 years of paying you monthly premiums! Clearly it is a grift, by both the warranty company and this contractor. When trying to get clarification, the ghost you. I'll be getting a second opinion in the morning and contacting legal counsel. Run don't walk and take heed to out reviews and ask for another vendor if you have any Warranty Company that suggests this company or just save up, pay out of pocket and avoid these grifters all together. I submitted a service request through American Home Shield and paid the required $125 dispatch fee for what should have been a straightforward repair: replacing a toilet flange due to normal wear and tear in an older home. The flange had rusted, nothing unusual and clearly not caused by misuse. The plumber, Pieter, came out and said he needed to order a flange repair kit and return. Shortly thereafter, the warranty claim was denied, with the explanation that the damage was caused by "excessive force." That assertion is completely unfounded and appears to be a pretext to deny coverage and instead push an outrageously overpriced out-of-pocket repair, $650, to return and complete the work. To make matters worse, Pieter did not properly reinstall the toilet before leaving. It is now leaking, creating a new problem that did not exist before the service call. This experience reflects poor workmanship, questionable claims handling, and a business model that seems designed to deny legitimate warranty claims after collecting the dispatch fee. The master plumber comes out and evaluate your problem but does not follow up in trying to solve the problem, three days at my home and could not fix the problem, and the master Plumbers helper. Keep an eye on him because he will relieve ( piss ) himself anywhere he can, specially on the side of your home. and if you have security cameras, you will catch him in action like my cameras did. This tub should have been fixed two months ago - but they seem to not be able to do any sort of repairs fast. The gentleman that came out was nice but that does not get the job done. Disappointing Experience with K&S Plumbing - HomeServe Warranty Repair I used my HomeServe Warranty for a sprinkler leak, and K&S Plumbing was assigned to handle the repair. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. After the technician left, my neighbor noticed that water was still running excessively for hours, which may result in excessive water company fees due to the continued leak. When I called to report the issue, the front desk initially tried to schedule me for the next day. I had to be firm to have someone come back the same day. The technician ultimately had to turn off the sprinkler system and return the next day to finalize the repair. During that visit, I also reported that my landscaping light was no longer working, an issue that did not exist before the repair. Afterward, my flowerbed was left in poor condition -- mud on landscaping lights, windows, and bricks, and the sprinkler system no longer properly flushed. The repair area still needs dirt added to restore it to its original state. I called to speak with a manager to discuss these concerns, but no one ever returned my call. A simple returned phone call from the service manager could have easily resolved the issue and avoided this review. As a customer, I should not have to spend extra time and money cleaning up or restoring my property after a professional repair. I would not recommend K&S Plumbing. American Home shield uses this company. I had an appointment with an 8-12 window that k&s canceled at 1130. That was a Friday and they wanted to reschedule to Monday. After trying to resolve the issue I called AHS back and they said K&s would come today because it was expedited due to both bathrooms being out of order. That was 7 hours ago and it's 9pm. I'm pretty sure they aren't coming. So when they say the offer emergency 24/7 service don't believe them. They have not even bothered to call. read more

It did take several visits to complete the job which was expected since there were numerous steps in the process. They are excellent about notifications when the tech(s) will be arriving and what the process will entail on each visit. read more

I've used K&S a few times because they are who my home warranty sends out when I have plumbing issues. The tech that has come out more than once is Skylar. He is always nice. They had to come out more than once to get the garbage disposal working right, which I didn't like. Recently, they couldn't find my PVR to fix a leaky faucet situation so my husband and I had to search for it. We found it and they came back to fix it. They were trying to charge quite a bit, but they came down on the price. Everything is working fine now. The techs can be a bit loud, but they have been apologetic when they realize they're being a bit of a distraction. I chose this company due to the "4.5 stars" on Google, but after doing some digging I realized they had awful reviews on every other site, as in this app, Yelp. I had someone come out to give me a quote on installing a water line from my sink to my new fridge, which is about 6 feet in width that would require drilling under the subfloor, but not hard whatsoever. This man quotes me $1,200 (basically what I paid for a new fridge) to install a quarter turn box into the wall, to run pex wire from that to the fridge. I don't know who in their right mind would pay that but I was livid because these things cost $35 at Home Depot, and wouldn't take 2 hours (at the most) to complete. K&S Plumbling came out to one of my properties to fix a water leak to a pipe connected to my water heater. I was uncomfortable with the high cost so I called a trusted company to review what they called modifications to the pipe. The company informed me they placed a 40 cent fitting with no modifications and the cost was very high for the service. I called K&S to ask what modifications was done and they were unable to explain. The company sent my money back. My home insurance plan AHS sent them out to service a water heater at another property and they sent me this huge bill for all the modifications that needed to be done. This company is unethical and shady. Do not trust this company or please get a second opinion before allowing them to complete any work. read more

They don't seem to care about their customers! As with many of the previous review I was referred to K&S through our home warrantee company. The only difference in my experience is that someone actually went to their houses to "fix" the issue. I had a leaky pipe in my garage that was dripping into my air handler. The earliest appointment was 7 days from when I called...I took a half day off work to meet them. About 2 hours into my wait a nice lady called to inform me that my tech had a personal emergency and they had to reschedule. The "next available" appointment was 5 days later. Are you kidding me? I get that people have emergencies but the leak is so bad that I now have to turn my water off to the house. They should have rearranged their work force to complete the task they agreed to. She was "very sorry" but that was all I got...no manager was "available" to speak with me. I called American Home Shield and they we very good in finding another vendor to assist the next morning...problem finally resolved. read more

AHS home warranty sent K&S Plumbing tech Cody and Dakota to fix the garbage disposal. Cody removed a top from the garbage disposal which fix it. He stated that a new faucet for the sink and a line needed replacing. He stated that the company would only allow $30.00 toward a new faucet and I would have to add $125.00 if I wanted one like mine; which was a nice thick Delta. He replaced it with a cheap thin Delta that looks like a toy. The water pressure will only go so high and the knobs are really thin. I would not recommend K&S Plumbing in Alabaster, AL to my worst enemy. I have contacted both companies. I think that home warranties company should check behind these types of companies, so that they will not do this to other companies. They should be held responsible for their actions. read more

We have a condo. The plumbers with K&S came out and said the problem was the main line, not our condo and there was nothing they could do. I asked if they could run the snake down the toilet just to be sure. He said this was an "insurance call" so they were allowed to snake the toilet (???). (He ended up running some kind of 10ft contraption down the toilet, and no it did not help.) We then spoke with a board member who lives next door and they approved payment to K&S plumbers to go ahead and fix the issue at the main line. The technician called his manager who said they do not do things like that. The HOA board member called the main office and was told again, that they ONLY do insurance calls and not plumbing jobs in an emergency or big jobs that involve multiple units. You may want to be aware of this before calling this business, it appears that they just have a company that comes out, tells you they can't do anything, and bills your insurance. read more

I have no complaints about the plumber himself. However the women answering the phone at K and S are completely rude. I never write reviews! Good or bad! But my experience was so bad that I felt compelled to share! I have never in my life had customer service representatives be so rude to me on the phone. When the first thing that The plumber tried did not fix my drippy faucet outside, I called K&S plumbing to see if they could just send him back out to fix it again. After all, I had already paid for it! But instead they said I had to make another claim through the home warranty. These people do not stand behind their work. She made it as difficult as she possibly could for me to get this drippy faucet fixed again and forced me to be home when the plumber came back out so I had to take more time off work. Would never use this company again. Our kitchen sink was backed up. Call K&S plumbing to have a technician come out to snake the line. He arrived to inform us that he couldn't snake the line and we need a whole new P trap system that would be $255.00 plus the $75.00 service fee. I ask there is no way to snake the drain he said no you need a new P trap. I told him that's crazy and told him to leave but still had to pay the 75.00 service fee. I called another plumbing company. The technician came out same day snaked the line from my sink drain the same drain K & S said they couldn't run snake through. Took the new technician a total of maybe 5 min To unclog the line. I tried a few others but they were the only one who could come (even though it was not until 2 days later - they were the best option). Jan 5, 2022 Company was sent out through AHS. I had a burst pipe, called them and they came out 2 days later. Of course the water had been turned off for those days. Appointment was between 8 am and 12 pm. He calls at 11:20 and says he's about 20-25 minutes out. This was after I called 5 minutes earlier to check his status. He gets here a little before 12, they turn the water on, he looks around the house and the area where I advised the leak was. I explained everything and how the numbers on the meter were racing before we cut the water off. He determined that there wasn't a leak and he found no issues. He was gone in about 20 minutes after arriving. Not even an hour after he arrived (about 30 minutes after he left), there goes the water spurting everywhere. No one to call and I'd have to wait another 3 or so days for someone to come out. Paid the deductible for the visit and had to purchase the part and my husband fixed it hisself. You would think he would've known that if the water had been turned off, he would need to give it time to build up the pressure before he could see the leak. But Jason told American home shield that the pipe has been Tampered with which is NOT true . I was hesitant to use K&S plumbing because of the reviews on YELP. I learned that you cannot trust ratings in YELP. I sent a message to K&S and told them that they have some bad ratings on YELP. I was assured that K&S is reputable and to give them a try. I am very happy I did. The plumber came up to my house and repaired the leak. Upon repairing the leak that was the obvious one, he discovered that there is another leak downstream of the repair he did. However, there would be a need to bring a small excavator. Prior to the plumber leaving, K&S already scheduled another house call with a different crew. They came out as promised and preformed the repair. They left the job site is, clean and actually better than it looked prior to them arriving. I would recommend this company. read more

Appalling customer service. They have utter contempt for their customers and make little attempt to communicate effectively. They canceled an appointment earlier this week and rescheduled for an afternoon time without consulting me--this after I specifically requested morning appointments only due to the conflict with picking up my child from school every week day afternoon. I finally got that appointment rescheduled for another morning later in the week and it is now 12:15pm and they still have not shown up (time frame for appointment was 8am to noon). I have been stood up twice. I have to call them and track them down--they did not bother to have their staff call me. This is inexcusable. Once is understandable but at this point it is rude and horrible customer service. I will never use this company again nor will I recommend K&S to friends, family and colleagues. Note: finally had a teenage "plumber" show up Just before 12:20pm. The first word out of the teen plumber's mouth after hello were: "how will you be paying today, Ma'am". NO APOLOGY. No explanation. They apparently expect clarity when to it comes to how and when they will be paid but they do not bother communicating clearly and with consideration with the people who provide them with the paychecks to keep the company solvent. I don't know if all their employees are boorish and lack proper training but it is worth noting that everyone I dealt with was in their late teens or early twenties, not that it is an excuse for lacking in accountability and professionalism. read more
