Looking for a floor contractor? Looking to remodel? Look no further. K&M really takes the cake when it comes to providing excellent service paired with a product you'll love and at an honest and reasonable price. I'm a general contractor and have worked with a respectable amount of floor companies in my career. Frankly, ALL of those other companies could never have met the level of service that K&M provided me on my home project. Each of their team members puts in the extra effort to make sure you're provided with everything you ask for and then they take it a step further when they see any opportunity to help you along the way. Here are some tips that you should keep in mind while you work with K&M: 1) Don't let their name distract you. They are a heck of a lot more than a floor company. They also have the capability to provide you with several other remodel services or at least have top notch contacts that meet K&M's level of quality. They can help you with plumbing and electrical modifications, running trim, shower doors, and pretty much anything in your bathrooms. 2) Let's come back to flooring for a moment. They demolished and hauled off all my existing floors without destroying anything else in the house... crazy right?? I personally could not have managed to do that. I'm impressed on day one! Then they installed a new sub base, plank tile, stained wood stairs, and carpet products for me and each installer was a master of their particular niche. All the floors were installed level, with professional tools and materials, and by someone who knows what they are doing. What more could you ask for? They even used materials that even I had not ever seen before. These were all hidden benefits that I didn't know I was getting. 3) K&M has an enormous amount of pride in their work and strives for customer satisfaction. I know that sounds vague and unreliable, but they came back and addressed every tedious little thing that I mentioned throughout the entire process... and trust me, the things I picked out were little. They will never tell you "No" or that it can't be done. They will make sure you're satisfied or more. They perform as if their work will be displayed in a magazine ad or a catalog. 4) The don't change order you to death, in fact their quotes are very wholesome and detailed. Unless there's a legitimate surprise that's uncovered during the job or if you ask for something additional, you should not expect them to ask you for more money. This is a breath of fresh air for anyone who has experienced the contractors who just Nickel and Dime you until the job is done, proving that those low prices they offered you weren't real prices. For future projects, I suggest you rip off that bandaid and pay a real contractor like K&M. You won't regret it. 5) The only thing that K&M doesn't do well is overcome their humble image and tell you how incredibly awesome they are. In fact, after working with them, I found that it's no wonder that the Georgia Business Journal rated K&M as the top flooring contractor in the state. Seriously the best! First off, if you have an insurance claim call K&M. Long story short my toilets water line came loose and the entire first-floor flooring needed to be replaced. I contacted K&M and John (the consultant) was out in less than an hour, John was fantastic! John went over the whole process with me - he went over different flooring options, cost, timing, installation, and what to expect. John's communication was second to none, he was constantly updating me on my project. Next came install day - Crew chief Paulo and his crew rocked! Super nice guys, were obviously very experienced and fast! Once Paulo and his crew get started they don't stop, they knocked out my floors in a day, no joke, one day... And the floors look great!! I chose the "Aruba" color, I love it. Super durable and they look exactly like hardwoods. Best of all, John and his crew helped me deal with my insurance adjuster. Before I chose K&M my insurance adjuster was a complete nightmare; I'm lost when it comes to insurance claims. K&M took over my project and made my process 100 times easier and stress-free. John and crew took care of everything; they fought with my insurance adjuster to upgrade my old carpeted floors to new LVP floors for next to nothing out of pocket. The whole process was stress-free and I could not be happier. I don't normally leave reviews but I felt I needed to since this experience was so amazing. the floor that we selected w/ Jason looks great and was installed nicely. the communication that I shared w/ Jason leading up to the installation was timely and well-received. however, my complaints w/ K&M are from the aftermath of the install. throughout our home, there were multiple dried adhesive spots on our walls. while it was indicated in our estimate that the baseboards would be removed and replaced, they were done so in a haphazardly fashion that resulted in the replacement of those damaged baseboards (and the ensuing damage - in the form of holes in the drywall - that was caused to the walls during that process). what was most upsetting, however, was that one of our walls had a fist-size hole through the sheetrock. this was located behind a Murphy bed that is located in one of our bedrooms. the bed was in place prior to us moving into the unit more than 7 years ago and neither my wife nor I had any idea how to go about detaching it from the wall and floor so that the new product can go underneath it. this was addressed during the estimate process as well as ~1 week prior to the floor install. I was assured that the K&M team "would look into the Murphy bed and have the correct tools to disassemble." the team clearly struggled w/ it (understandably so), but leaving a hole in the wall as a result of moving the furniture and not addressing it was extremely off-putting. following a post-install walk-through, Jason assured me that "you don't pay us until we get this right." as a result, my wife and I had to hire additional contractors to replace the damaged baseboards and the damage to our walls that was a result of K&M's negligence. K&M did cover the cost of those repairs and adjusted our estimate accordingly, again, the floor itself looks great and we're glad that we did the upgrade. Jason was very personable, understanding and upset ("my team doesn't leave job sites in this state following an install...") about the issues that we addressed following their work. however, the carelessness with our belongings and home during the process was quite upsetting and resulted in more contractor work in our home than we initially anticipated (and hoped, honestly). K&M "made things right", but caused quite an inconvenience doing so. K&M were originally referred to us by some trusted friends who highly recommended K&M. also, Jason didn't have any hesitation when we discussed my residential situation (my wife and I live in a condo in downtown Atlanta and our HOA strictly limits contractor work between the hours of 9AM-5PM, M-F) or the time of work (which occurred on the three days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday). I can understand if his team isn't used to working in such rigid situations and it appears that the mishaps that I outlined earlier were due to meeting multiple deadlines (the 5PM cutoff time and avoiding work on Thanksgiving). I was told that "our best installer will be working w/ you" - if that's the case, I'd really hate to see how his *worst* installer works. TL;DR - our floor looks fab but the frustration that resulted from K&M's careless work was very unpleasant. read more
