My review is based on communication and follow up only…read more I called D. VAUTER to remove 2 trees from my yard and one my neighbor wanted removed on his property. His response to my call was quick. He came and gave a price for the 3 trees which was approved and he was to back in 2 weeks. He was a no show. I called him and he said he was behind due to storm damage but would be there first of following week. Again no calls about coming or any follow up So in month and a half he only responded to the call for estimatess. All other contact was from calling him, only for empty promises. This company has many excellent reviews on Google. 4.9 rating. Guess he just estimated a job he did not want to do. Wish he had said that 6.5 was ago, rather being a no show, no communication. Glad he gets 4.9 on Google from clients he follows up on.

His quote was lower than the other companies who said they'd be there... significantly lower. He gave me a schedule, and after a storm when many trees are down, that's difficult to do. They were two days late on their schedule, and they called me a week in advance to let me know that there would be a delay. When the wind blows, sometimes you have to wait in line... nice to know how long that line is. The job... flat out professional. I met the manager on site early in the morning and his crew showed up shortly afterward. 5 hours later, the damaged tree was removed without any damage to the surrounding fence and buildings. A side note, the manager was a wealth of information about trees in general and how I should proceed filling the space that the red maple took up. I highly recommend these guys!

I could tell that he really needed the work, so I agreed and we shook hands. He then asked me for a 25% deposit. I told him that I didn't pay upfront and that was a deal breaker for me. As I turned to walk away, he said; "I need to get some gas and a new chainsaw blade to do the job, could you at least give me $50?" I knew better, but I felt sorry for the guy. I didn't get a feeling that he wanted my business so I wished him good luck and hung up. P.S. After I posted this review Mr. Smith contacted me saying he had called my husband today asking for me. We were very nervous about the trees, and called a couple of tree services out to give us their opinion as to what trees needed to be removed. Both services recommended removing all of the trees as they were too close to the house and all had branches hanging over or endangering the home. We chose Orleans Co Tree Service because they are not landscapers that also do trees, they are a liscensed, insured, dedicated tree service with certified arborists. Their pricing was excellent, and the bid was total, any taxes, fees, etc, were included in the price. Additionally, they took away all the wood, cleaned up any limbs and leaves, and ground all of the stumps. They had 10 trees down, including 125' pine, a 59+ foot rotting maple, and the 4 dangerous to cut dead trees, stumps ground, and detritus cleaned up, in 5 hours. Amazing!

I was uncomfortable being approached (I am a young woman with two babies) and told him I was on my way out. He then approached my husband until my husband gave in. Big mistake. Ricky said he would cut down and remove the stumps of 4 trees. Instead, he cut them down and then left the huge logs in our backyard. He said his truck ran out of room and he couldn't take them away. (He said he was from Richmond, and we are two hours from there.) He decreased his price by only $5 after my husband argued with him about it. We have an HOA who later charged us more than the cost to remove our trees to plant new ones since he didn't remove the stumps. On top of it all, the tree he trimmed for our neighbor left debris all over our patio and he didn't clean it up. On his way out he said, "Have a blessed day!" which just confirmed to me he was a scammer. We only saw him in our area that one day, so I don't think he stays in one place for repeat customers.
