Turns out the sinus infection I had was the culprit but all good now! I came back for a cleaning today and had an excellent experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the facility is clean and smells nice, and most importantly, I was thrilled with the service! The dental hygienist was AMAZING!! She made me feel so comfortable and was so knowledgeable; she made me look at flossing in such a different way! LOVED HER! I was seen on time and was in and out in less than 30-minutes. I have an excellent dentist that I used to go to in the city by my previous employer and have been dreading finding a provider in Brooklyn, but I am so happy I found this gem of a place and am very excited for them to be my new go-to for everything teeth!

They ruined my smile and then ghosted me…read more This clinic is unprofessional and careless. I went in for Botox on my forehead and masseter. This is the same treatment I've had many times elsewhere with flawless results. The first round here didn't work at all. I went back for a touch-up, paid another $800. It still didn't work. I was told it was an issue with the botox. Despite paying essentially paying double, I decided to let that go and go get the third round of Botox. By the third round, my forehead was finally frozen - but my smile was destroyed. The left side now looks like I'm grimacing instead of smiling, and only with effort can I force it to look halfway normal. My natural smile is gone. I reached out with photos and a video showing the damage and specifically asked not to deal with the same injector who had already failed me twice. The very next day, he was the one who contacted me anyway. After I sent clear proof of the issue, the clinic disappeared and never responded. They took my money, botched my face, and ghosted me when I complained. Absolutely unacceptable - avoid this place at all costs.

Incompetent and careless front desk - wasted three weeks of my time. I came in for an emergency…read morevisit, was seen by a nice doctor and they sent a pre-authorization for a root canal. For some reason, they sent it by mail (unlike electronically, like everyone else) and insisted it would take 3 weeks to hear back. After a week and a half, my insurance told me that if they just sent it electronically and labeled it as "emergency", I'd hear back after 48 hours. I communicated this to the front desk, but they sounded annoyed, and wouldn't lift a finger to help, and insisted I had to keep waiting. They refused to submit the pre-auth electronically or call insurance to speed up the process (even though insurance recommended this, and earlier, the receptionist herself said she would call.) So, I went to a new dentist, who immediately filed an electronic pre-authorization, and heard back within a few days. The new dentist requested the full set of xrays, which Avant Garde Dental promised to send, twice -- but didn't actually send! This delayed the process by another week, until I called myself. It's now been a month of phone calls to insurance and multiple offices -- while dealing with a tooth in bad shape! Had I gone to another dentist, I would've had an approval within a week. I think the front desk needs to remember that people who call them are having a very bad time, and telling someone with tooth pain to "just wait 3 weeks" is brutal, especially when they can help. The office is modern and nice, and the dentist who saw me was fine. But they wasted a month of my time with tooth pain. Beware.

She did an amazing job with a deep cleaning that day (while assuring me that my teeth were not actually going to fall out!) and I have been going for regular check ups and cleanings ever since. She even did a fantastic job straightening my teeth last year with Invisalign. I was hesitant at first because my insurance wasn't going to cover the full amount, but I'm so glad I went through with it. I don't feel my teeth constantly grinding anymore, and I have confidence in myself when I smile now. When you decide to check her office out, you'll notice that her staff is truly warm and professional. They make every visit feel pleasant, and I've never had a bad experience going to my appointment. When first making your appointment you always speak to the receptionist at any medical office…read more 'Bensonhurst Smiles' receptionist is really nice and calm over the phone. She doesn't rush you and you don't feel like you're bothering her. I think it's a really great resource to have a competent and kind receptionist because they are your patients first point of contact, and usually also the last. Onto the appointment, Dr. Lau seems to be incredibly popular and so getting an appointment will be at least a month in advance. There's barely any patients in the waiting room and his office utilizes the standup X-RAY and not the multiple bite guard and positions one if you know which I'm talking about. Really love how streamlined the process is and he takes his time during the appointment to listen to your concerns and discuss all of your options. Comparatively, my previous doctor never offered me a more expensive albeit conservative approach to fixing my dental issue and so I never got a choice to the dental procedure I would like to proceed with. Medical transparency is highly important and giving your patients all of their viable options relative to cost is important and so I value that in this dentist and hope you all do too. He doesn't try to up-sell the more expensive procedure and so the decision will always be yours in the end. Overall, both me and my partner had a great experience with our regular teeth cleanings and with my dental procedures. The office is always prompt to return our calls and Dr. Lau is always attentive and thorough with examinations and execution of work. Highly recommend this dental office to everyone I know.
