No--Mama Bear Toys & Games takes me back to my childhood, when my parents would take me to an actual toy store. When I'd just look for what was on the shelves and light up when I found my perfect match. I'm glad that I can now share this experience with my own kids. Prices here are competitive with major big box stores and online retailers. And frankly, I'm fine paying $5 extra to shop at a local business. They have a large selection of Legos, and the science and STEM/STEAM type kits were prolific as well. It's nice to see most everything is vetted to make a kid think as they play, and there weren't mindless commercial gimmick toys or vapid crap promoting some character/tv/movie franchise. Toys were attractively arranged, neatly on display, easy to see, and price tags were clear and present. Some toys were fairly priced, like stuffed animals and Legos (curated sets, not basic ones), but we found the STEM/STEAM and science-y stuff to be a bit overpriced. The kit we exchanged for was 20% cheaper on Amazon. Another board game was 3x the price of the identical thing at Ollie's. I always try to support local businesses, but I don't have the kind of disposable income where I can afford to pay much over competitor prices. For what my son wanted, we felt a little frustrated driving a half hour from home (each way) and paying $6 more than having Amazon shipped to our door. Yes, it was a gift credit, so we didn't "pay" ourselves, but to have gotten a comparable price plus a small $6 extra little toy would have been nice. I think this is a great store to find items unavailable elsewhere (like some of the collectible LEGO sets, and stuffed animals), or for people unfamiliar with current kids' toys (grandparents, etc.) to get good recommendations and solid choices. Paying a premium is worth it to them. They did mention a rewards program, so locals will benefit from that taking the edge off of the competitor margins. We don't live close enough to take advantage of that.

Managed to get there on a good day, easy parking. it's a small shopping center, y'know? Walking in, it literally was wall-to-wall vintage collectibles. Many still in their packages. Walking through it all brought a sense of nostalgia, but at the same time I felt a dull pain--in my wallet. Whatever your focus is, collecting can be expensive and time consuming. Star Wars, Barbie, He-Man, Star Trek (to a lesser extent)...DC/Marvel superheroes. Collectible toy cars (Hot wheels, etc.). There's a lot to look at. Some in their own package, some bagged specifically for the store. 85% of what's there are action figures and such. The rest is a mix of collectible comics, toy cars, and other odd bits. I'd say the prices are reasonable, though a handful of the limited edition collectibles (such as a Sideshow figure of Ghost Rider on his flaming bike) had prices which gave heart palpitations. Era-wise, I'd say the vast majority of toys there are mid-70's on. So there are toys related to "The Six Million Dollar Man", as an example. There were some older 50's era pieces as well. And, like i said, some comics. If I had more time to look I would've stayed longer, but time's the one thing I didn't have. Speaking of which, they were out of the one thing I was looking for. Not a problem, though. If it's not there I won't be tempted to buy it. One more thing: They opened up a 'dollar store' version of the shop a few doors down. It has what you'd expect to find there.

My daughter was too tall for the bike. I brought it back today because there was no way she could use it. The girl who sold it to me yesterday said no problem and then she got another woman to come help me. I assume this is the store owner(a middle-age woman behind the counter). She was incredibly rude. She told me that she's gonna have to eat the cost as a small business and rolled her eyes, and then said that it's not actually returnable, but that she would give me a refund. Ok? You're mad at me? For doing business with you? Because something had what seems like false advertising on the box? It wasn't broken, but it did not adjust. I'm not sure how a four-year-old would be able to use that bike (The age was 18 months to four years old with an adjustable seat). Considering that seat doesn't adjust up and down makes it a bit odd to advertise such a large age gap. I left the store thinking that she was clearly mad at me and upset that I had returned the bike.That attitude at a children's store is just not the way to do business.
