Wonderful exchange of friends, food and fun.
    Keith T.

Where do I begin...if you are looking for that great dinner party where all you do is drink and eat, and you host cleans everything up. This is it. You know the one where you aren't ashamed of eating all that's out in front of you, and it spent more time talking about the next meeting. Then , This is the event you want. It begins with the sweetest host who greets you and never lets your glass be empty. And she does this by empowering you to participate in preparation of a feast that spans three acts Act I ...fill wine glass. Host takes you on a journey, an opening scene, where she takes you to the market and explain its history and evolution. Teaching you to taste and haggle like a local. You return back to the kitchen ready to sample tapas and absorb the cultures of Spain. I was floored as to how naive this American really was, and how tasty various a combination of cheese and anchovies could leave one craving; craving to search every international section for various canned fish upon returning home. I had to tell my countrymen about import restrictions so as to quell any future jail time. Just when you thing you are done...there is more. ...fill more wine Now you start making the dessert-a Catalan variant of crème brûlée but better. Better because it's Spanish. Then more history of the country and the people...and more wine. Next, after I check my watch wanting time to stand still; I get excited knowing we are beginning to make the main dish: paella. It's at this time, the second act, where my son and wife arrive and take over my spot in the kitchen because I am so excited talking and meeting the various guest: Americans and Australians. I am a changed man-knowing that those delicious tapas are but a simple reach for me to create for my friends and family. ..and for the third act: lunch. It was the perfect end to a perfect trip amounts Europe's hottest temperatures on record but perfected through the cool and temperate moments cooking and meeting new friends. BARCELONA! oh and don't forget making Catalan bread with fresh tomatoes, garlic and olive oil, my goodness. Acto I ...llenar copa de vino.

The food was amazing and Horia was an amazing teacher. We were a group of 10 and had an amazing authentic Spanish experience. Would highly recommend to any tourists or locals to learn a bit more about their culture. Great paella

One of the main reasons I travel is to eat: so what better way to learn about a culture than through the way they cook their food? Well, I had the pleasure of booking the 'Dynamic Cooking Class' offered by Janelle and wonderful chef, Alfredo. Our morning started with a trip to La Boqueria, and then we got a chance to cook in the cutest place imaginable! We were walked through Spain's regional tapas and pinchos, and were given the opportunity to try 10 tasty tapas made from the BEST ingredients! Did I mention, there was alcohol, too? Well, I stuffed myself so much, I could barely eat the paella that we patiently prepared after this entertaining class. I highly recommend booking this trough AirBnB! And don't be surprised if your group is the only one there during the off season, it makes it that much more intimate...and that much more memorable. This was the HIGHLIGHT of my visit to Barcelona, and if you've got 4 hours to spare, I'd encourage you to spend it in Alfredo's kitchen, eating some of the best food you'll have!

From her easy to find meeting point, early arrival and very relaxed pace strolling through Barcelona's incredible Gothic Quarter (and her dropping historical "tapas" along the way noting places of significance) her professionalism & care for clients is SO obvious !! Oh, and then the FOOD ! we were taken to 3 spots I never would have found for a great cross-section of Spanish at first bar (Chorizo sausage, Bull's tail done PERFECTLY with the richest sauce, rich bread & potatoes and a nice vermouth). Next was a Catalonian restaurant for a their special take on Paella rice, "Pisto" of eggplant, croquettas,etc.). Wine pairing was terrific And finally a dessert spectacular stop in the Jewish Qtr of custard/Flan, cake and ice cream selection. A local "cava" sparkling Catalan wine and coffee offered. In summary we had a very mixed, small relaxed group of 6 (two from NYC, 2 from Holland, 1 from Seattle, 1 from California & 1 from Cadiz Spain) who were all open to new tastes & experiences that bonded very well this pleasant evening !!! HIGHLY recommend this tour....but do it ASAP upon arrival in Barcelona, as Maribel emails all guests a follow-up list of local favorite restaurants, bars and shops that will be IN-valuable the remainder if your stay. Unfortunately we ended our trip with her...and now have to return to try as many places on her list as possible !

Our tour guide, Miguel, didn't seem very knowledgeable about anything, and I didn't feel that the food he referred us to was all that special or even that good. Actually, I felt short changed. I have to say, the food that I found on my own was way better than anything Miguel. Also, apologies for the lateness of this review. I did this tour in 2015.

The pace was perfect -- a great combination of eating, walking, touring, and photospots so just when you were getting full, you had the opportunity to have a little walk to work up an appetite for the next stop. We went to at least 5 separate eateries (although I honestly I started losing count), some of them quite historic including the famed 4 Cats cafe. The tour even vetted out the best churros and best chocolate in the city (separate businesses), and brokered a deal that enabled us to try them together! Brian was a delight and in many of the restaurants, clearly knew the staff and owners -- this was great as it made us feel like VIPs and also gave us some insight into the history of the business -- some of them had been open and family run for many years! And weirdly -- even though Brian is American-born -- I felt that to be a plus: he was able to answer some of the more "basic" questions I might have been uncomfortable asking to a local, and given his time spent living in Spain thus far, I felt like he was still able to give us a really down-to-earth, local introduction to the city. Due to the size of the group, we only went to places where they could make reservations and seat a large group in a private back room. So we didn't visit any truly hole-in-the-wall places, but all the food was good so we didn't really mind. I will say this tour is possibly better for the beginning of your visit to Spain rather than the end. My partner and I had visited San Sebastian prior to Barcelona, and so many of the foods Brian was "introducing" like boquerones and croquettes we had already enjoyed and indulged in many times before.

We had a good sample of just roasted hazelnuts! Finally we went to a restaurant that served a huge list of items: baby squid, fiduea, bombas, seafood salad, and tomato bread.
