There is one bakery - Homestead Bakery in Westland - that is the only one I have found that offers homemade meringue buttercream that is silky, buttery, and not too sweet. I stopped by Pink Elephant Cupcakes to find out what kind of frosting is used in its desserts. The frosting used is standard and too sweet for my liking. I found it a bit pricey for a standard size and quality cupcake. A single cupcake is $3.50, a 4-pack is $14, a 6-pack is $21, and a dozen is $36. I would expect these prices for more gourmet quality cupcakes. It is a typical cupcake, which is fine for most people, especially kids and those with a sweet tooth. There are a lot of flavors to choose from as well. My favorite is the signature cupcake, the Pink Elephant, which is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and pink glittery sprinkles.

The ribbon was $1.50 extra but added to celebratory occasion. I had a plate that matched so used it to create a nice photo, including adding a candle and making a wish! Not only are the cupcakes beautiful, they taste as good as they look! Another plus is each box comes with instructions for storing and handling. I'm already planning my next visit!
