OMG the seasonings left my mouth smackin' for more! Chef Maggie will have you full and happy!

The food was cool, they give decent portion sizes. I do wish they would have given me 2 rolls instead of 1. But no real complaints.

This place is just like the name says, Just Like Mama's. That is both good and bad. It's good in that it is down home soul food. The problem is that there is nothing particularly special...nothing different than what I can get for free at mama's house or any church social. When I go to a restaurant, I want food that is unique to that restaurant... something that I can't get from anywhere else. This, unfortunately, is not it. The restaurant is located in a shopping center. Masks are required upon entry into the restaurant. Even though the restaurant was clean, I just couldn't get past the sticky floors. With every step, it seemed like my feet would slip out of my shoes. The workers there were very friendly. There was also had a cute little girl helping out. I assume that she is the daughter or granddaughter of the owner. I love the legacy angle. We decided to get our food to go. I ordered fried whiting, french fries, fried okra, mac and cheese, and cornbread. My husband ordered fried ribs, collard greens, mac and cheese, and potato salad. They didn't have the potato salad, so he got a double order of greens. We sat in a lobby type area as we waited for our food. There was a wall that people wrote messages on, and another wall dedicated to the owner's mother or grandmother. That was the touch that made things feel like home. While we were waiting, we decided to add desserts to our order. We decided to get a slice of Red Velvet Cake and a slice of Sweet Potato Pie. I'm not sure how long we waited for our food. We were told that it would be a 25 minute wait. It may have been that long, or a little longer. Quality of the food: As I stated earlier, there was nothing special about it. My fish was not fresh and was underwhelming. The french fries were just french fries. Something I can make from home. The same with the fried okra. The mac and cheese was pretty good. I tasted my husband's fried rib, and the piece he gave me was salty. The red velvet cake was ok, but the sweet potato pie was not good at all. It had wayy too much cinnamon. The best thing about the entire meal was the cornbread. The cornbread was moist and delicious. Overall, it was just ok, and I probably won't be back. The prices are way too expensive for food I can get for free from anywhere.

Big plates three sides, meat and corn bread.

Friendly service we went on a Sunday afternoon was slow,Lots of cars park up front of the restaurant from other businesses we thought it was going to be packed lucky it wasn't ,Quite and clean place! The food was great! Greens are tender and Mac cheese yummy not dry just right and the yams were yummy...CatFish was cook to order but worth it...My big Plate was about $15 Husband Had Wings And French fríes they also cook to order said they were great not tiny wings. Even though we had some of our foods cooked to order the wait wasn't bad:) We will be visiting again not as much as I like :( Kind of pricy but it's a treat to go every now and then ;) Not fast food Great place to relax and eat home style cooking!

They had an assortment of desserts available including cookies, cupcakes, banana pudding and peach cobbler. I ordered two red velvet cupcakes and an orange cranberry cupcake. To my pleasant surprise, I realized that they sell soul food and desserts. The soul food was not displayed, but still available to purchase due to the timing that I came in. The staff was so friendly and hospitable! There is no seating, so come ready to place your to go order and head home. The Saturday menu offered a few entrees and soulful sides, including baked pork chops with gravy, baked chicken, and fried fish. For sides, they had rice, macaroni and cheese, yams, collards and cornbread (and a few others, see a Saturday menu in the photo). They were sold out of baked chicken, so I opted for two pork chop dinners with macaroni, collards and yams for my family. It also included rice and cornbread. I was able to put the gravy on the side. They used sturdy to-go boxes and cupcake containers and nothing leaked out on my way home. I appreciated this a lot, because sometimes restaurants give you a styrofoam box that does not close, causing the sauces and juice from the food to leak out in the bag. The food was AMAZING! It tasted like it was made with love from scratch. I loved the pork chops and gravy, rice and cornbread. A Timeless Treat made the best macaroni and cheese that I've tried at a restaurant in Douglasville or Atlanta area! The portion was enough to have some for dinner and then the next day for lunch. Prepare for a nap after that meal! The red velvet cupcakes were good as well! Overall, I recommend this restaurant. I will be back to try the other items, since the menu rotates based on the day.

We ordered our usual: fried jumbo shrimp for me and my husband, and a bacon smash burger for my son. The "jumbo" shrimp were anything but jumbo. They were small, closer to popcorn shrimp, which feels like false advertising. The burger was also noticeably smaller than it used to be and, to make matters worse, it was missing the bacon entirely and the rest of the toppings were wrong as well. I understand food costs may have increased, but I would rather pay more than see quality and accuracy decline. This was a big disappointment, and we won't be back.

I had the country fish breakfast, which included two Large flounder fillets, eggs and grits. The food came out hot (even after waiting about 10 minutes after I sat down); everything is cooked to order and fresh. The flounder was EXCELLENT and so full and flaky, with a nice crunch. The grits were perfect- you know the grits are good when you eat them with a fork. Had a strawberry mimosa and water to wash things down. The large quantity of food really filled me up so that I had to take some of my flounder home with me. The service was GREAT! The people are so friendly from the moment you walk in. Great place and I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

My friends have tried attending and found the music level too loud & left. If it's supposed to be a restaurant, then maybe save the loud music til after 9 for the club vibe? ‍ We came for dinner Sunday, 7/27/25. There was a good mix of R&B & hip hop, with more R&B, I'd say. My husband, "can't do boopity-boo," and was able to hang in there until bingo. I'l come back to that. I ordered the Baldwin Hills, which was fruity, but strong. The bartenders need to get on the same page tho, because the 1st one was definitely better than the 2nd one. I'm from LA & Baldwin Hills is above the area where I grew up, so I had to represent with that drink. Normally, I'm a whiskey/bourbon lady, but vodka is my white liquor preference so I was good. The food is good. We started with the jerk chicken eggrolls. It was definitely fried hard, or maybe refried from earlier? Idk. It was not as light as the picture. Due to the lighting & how hard they were fried, I had to do some editing to make them visible. The server said they weren't too spicy. They come in 4 pieces. The 1st piece I had was definitely mild. My husband said they had a kick when he bit into his, but I didn't get that...that is until I had the 2nd one! Whew! All the spice was in that piece! I'd say slightly spicier than a little kick. They were tasty tho. We both waited a while for our entrees. The table next to us, also only with a couple had their food come out before ours, though they came in as we were finishing our appetizer I think. We'd already placed our entree order by the time they came. The server apologized for the delay on our food and said it would be out in a few minutes. It was more like 10-15 minutes before they brought out his entree. The person who brought it out, maybe the manager?, said she didn't want his food to get cold waiting on mine to come out. It took another 10-15 minutes, if not longer, for my food to come out, with no explanation. My husband ordered the fried catfish entreè with spinach & rice pilaf. He enjoyed his food. His only issue was not having 2 fillets. As you can see the piece you get is sizable, soooo, if you have a big appetite, maybe also get the catfish on the happy hour too to supplement the meal. ‍ I'm trying to get into salmon & the honey bourbon salmon was good. It wasn't overly sweet and it didn't taste fishy, like salmon sometimes can. The spinach is good also. I had to send the potatoes back because they were not hot. As long as I waited for my food, I wasn't expecting lukewarm food. The server quickly brought out some hot potatoes and they were good. They have bingo on Sunday night @ 8; or at least it was 8-something that's night. Initially, the dj said it was an R&B bingo, but when the bingo paper was passed out, it had hip hop on it too. I'm familiar with some hip hop, but don't know all the artists' names, lol. It was still fun, but I knew I probably wasn't going to win lol. We sang during the songs (had to ID the artist on the bingo card), and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'm glad to have this option in Douglasville and glad it's still here after a few years when some other restaurants have closed. They are also open late, which is good, as most restaurants in the area close at 9 or 10. I'd ask the owner to consider a grown and sexy night or an over 35 night with good R&B music that's played at a level that can be enjoyed and allowed conversation to flow. A line dance night would also be good. I met the owner when the 1st location in Atlanta opened on Edgewood. It just so happened we had family in town visiting from LA. They gave him the business lol about the drink names and the place, but really enjoyed the vibe. I'm glad to see the business flourishing and in multiple states. I wish continued success and that there will be some acceptance of the feedback provided.

I ordered baked chicken with rice, sweet potato soufflé, mac and cheese, and potato salad. I also purchased my grandmother a plate with meatloaf, collard greens, and sweet potato soufflé. What really set the tone was having to stand there and watch the young lady fix both of my plates. She was extremely stingy with the portions. I mean tiny dabs of food. The amount of rice on both plates was honestly shameful -- you could clearly see the bottom of the container. I almost turned around and walked out, but since I had already driven an hour to get there, I decided to continue. Watching someone fix $15 plates like that, knowing the price, was very disappointing. The baked chicken was dry and hard. The mac and cheese was not creamy and not cheesy at all. The potato salad was just okay. The only thing that was actually good was the sweet potato soufflé -- and it was a 10/10. This was my fourth time giving this location a chance. I usually buy at least eight plates when I come, so you can imagine how much money I've spent trying to support them. At this point, the only reason I would ever return is for the potato soufflé -- and nothing else. They really need training from associates at the other locations because I want to root for them. The other locations know how to: * Properly portion food * Cook it the right way * Offer real options Here, the bar looked pitiful, and to charge that much for so little food just doesn't make sense. I'm used to going to This Is It and seeing real ribs, spicy ribs, pork chops, and variety. I understand business -- if things don't sell, you focus on heavy sellers -- but this bar looked like bare minimum effort. For the price, I can go to A1 Soul Food, get way more food, and it tastes good every single time. I think I'm done with This Is It -- at least this location. And I don't take any pictures because the plates went in the trash after we at the soufflé.
