Just Earth has recently opened it's doors. It is an
off-shoot of Spiral Hubs, a gateway for social enterprise. It reveals it's origins with lots of hand made and fair trade being displayed on the shelves. The reason I like it so much is 2 fold. Firstly, the atmosphere is great. ..the cafe is set in the old box vintage/box theatre space with the street art and stage area intact. The outside has German beer hall tables which encourage social interaction, and a lounging area where I like to sit with a coffee and read in the afternoon. The inside has small quiet tables if you want some privacy. Secondly, the staff have a very relaxed, friendly way about them, which may not suit everybody, but I think they're great. The food is still being decided on, so every week it's different with a hand written menu, there is a special event 'Friday Wine Down' which is a great way to end the week. The only problem that I've had is that the bins are quite smelly if you're sitting anywhere near the side of the cafe at the beginning of the week. Otherwise it is a haven of relaxation in the city. read more
