I found Mark at the California State Department of Aging site. Within a DAY, ALLWAYS took action and care was immediate. Mark & team has helped our family immensely. I don't know how I could have given my Mom the care we received, if it weren't for Jackie, her caregiver. She was also very instrumental in "transitioning" my Mom in a way that she was more open to assisted living and care than ever before. Jackie's compassion, attention to detail, experience and professionalism turned my Mom's caregiver into a trusted friend. Jackie tag teamed with me to guide my Mom and educate her so that she herself, independently, made the right decision for herself. She was not only my Mom's "right hand" person--but mine as well. She is now going to move into a wonderful facility (I was referred to a great "broker" from Mark, too) and her worries are over. She is no longer afraid to be alone at night, and has someone within her reach in minutes. I don't know how we could have done all of this, and as fast as we had to, if ALLWAYS wasn't there as our partner. Thank you!

The first day Dana the caregiver arrived, my mom (& Dad!) were hooked. She was well trained, thoughtful, a "miracle worker" they said. We hadn't been able to get my mom in the shower, it was hard to help her sit in a comfortable position, there were many challenges, and Dana helped on so many levels with a smile and grace. Then when my mom's health quickly went south, I called Teri again to request around the clock care. Within less than 24 hours, Newport Home Care mobilized a team of caregivers who helped us take care of Mom with compassion and skill. We're very grateful for these people, their hearts are in their work.

Makes it tough get reliable info when you really need 5 star Home Care Services - and it's not like you just say "well, won't go back there - will move on in my bookmarks! This service provides in home caregiving on an hourly or live in basis. My mom had a stroke 4 years ago and I made the decision that a nursing center and other assisted living facilities weren't the right placement for her - I wanted her to stay in her own home for a variety of reasons. The services are not cheap - and often not covered by insurance - unless you have a long term care policy - Some people hire Caregivers independently - this will save you some money in the short run, but in the long run it's a very bad idea. Much better to go with a service - Let them do the hiring, firing, background checks, payroll, taxes, work mans comp and other insurance - as well as deal with sick days, substitutes and schedule changes. This is the second service I have used - the first one went out of business - and Colonial picked up the ball for clients of our former service. I am glad they did - they are a huge upgrade! Caregivers come and go for a variety of reasons - it's a variable that can't be controlled - the longest we've had was over a year. I am very happy with the caregivers i have at this time, and my impression is that the quality of caregivers from Colonial are more professional and higher quality then my previous service. Caregivers are "feel" type of thing - you need one that works in terms of personality, etc. - finding the "right" people for my mom's needs is sometimes a challenge. Mostly what you are looking for in a service is just that - service - I have found Colonial to be 5 star in every area - Every person I have dealt with has been great- starting at the top with the Owner/President Trevor, their Client Services Manager & Personnel Supervisor Nancy, Field Care supervisor Chrissy on down to our caregivers and their occasional substitutes. These people not only provide great service - they provide caring, understanding service which is much appreciated in these type of circumstances. Colonial has earned many certifications and awards - You can also feel good about supporting a family owned business that's been around over 20 years. Peace of mind is what you really need - and Colonial HCS gives you just that. 5 stars - "as good as it gets!' If any of my fellow Yelpers have questions - please feel free to contact me!

She is not only a caregiver, but shows how much she loves her job and my client every day, as she shows up with a smile and uses humor and love to help in the most difficult circumstances.. Caring Companions sent over a caregiver to our house right away when my father's health quickly deteriorated. Our caregiver was loving and compassionate. He was able to communicate with us regarding our dad's health and what was needed to keep him comfortable in his final days. Eddie (our caregiver) worked well with the hospice team and helped us manage our dad's pain. This was extremely important to us and he made sure it was under control the whole time. Working with Deanna and Mary was a pleasure. They were easy to work with and efficient. They showed our family love and empathy during a difficult time. While my dad was alive, they were able to live on their own alone as they kind of had complementary health issues where together as a team they could manage on their own. Her and my dad were married over 60 years and the loss of my dad left her feeling very alone and empty inside and there were things my mom knew she could no longer manage on her own every day. I have a full time job and 3 sons, so I was not able to be there to help her out during the day with getting to appointments, making sure she is eating well, keeping the house picked up, and providing some companionship during the day, which were her initial needs. My brother and sister live out of state, but we talked and agreed that we would share in the cost of bringing in a part time caregiver for Mom. I talked to some of my friends who use caregivers for their parents and was not able to get a good reference, so I went on line and found 3 in-home care agencies in my area to interview and compare services and prices. After talking to all 3 agencies, I decided to go with Caring Companions Referral Agency. I spoke with Melissa, who is the owner, and she immediately made me feel at ease. She clearly explained the entire process to me and I liked the fact that her and her husband own and run the agency. I also found that Melissa was able to offer me the lowest rate out of the 3 agencies I called, and that was certainly a factor in my decision as well along with my brother and sister. Initially I started my Mom with 4 hours per day Monday through Friday, and then I was able to personally cover the weekends. Recently this past year however, I had to increase my Mom's hours to 8 hours per day Monday through Friday because it is getting harder and more risky for my mom to get around on her own and do some of the personal hygiene things on her own like bathing and grooming as she is now 92, but she is still as sharp as a nail! Whenever Mom's caretaker is going to be on vacation or is sick, Melissa has always been able to find a capable replacement to cover. I am very happy with the service I receive from Caring Companions Referral Agency, but most importantly my mom is happy she gets to continue to stay at home and has developed a very nice bond with her caregiver. I have recommended Caring Companions Referral Agency to a couple of my friends in the past 3 years, and they also signed up with them for Caregiving services. I fully recommend Caring Companions Referral Agency if you or a loved one requires in-home care Sincerely Lisset
