I don't live near Asheville but have visited this cute little running store twice. It's a lovely little shop located in an old house. They carry many upscale brands you can't find just anywhere as well as traditional favorites. The employees are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They have two fitting rooms and a bathroom for customers. They are a supportive sponsor of local races which is how I discovered them. She was patient & brought me several pairs to try on , diff styles / sizes . I couldn't be happier with my experience . I needed a pair of running shoes to train for a 1/2 marathon with a friend in a few months. I really wanted to support a local business, so I went into Jus Running. The staff were somewhat helpful, mostly in getting sizes for me. There was no analysis or closer inspection of my running style. I took a turn on the treadmill with each pair, and found one that felt decent, so I bought them. But after a couple of indoor runs, I found that the heel was slipping. Either my feet were swollen, or I'd had big socks, or something, when I was at the store. So I took them back to exchange for a 1/2 size smaller...Except I had thrown away the original box, so they couldn't give me a return. That's $120 down the drain. I'm not arguing against the store's policy. I know they have to stay in business, but I went to Amazon.com and found these same shoes for about $40 less (in a non-popular color, I guess). I've definitely returned shoes to Amazon in the past, without the original box and received a full refund with no problem. So, sorry to say it, but I won't be going back. I've never bought proper running shoes before, and they spent probably 30 minutes with me, looking at my arch & explaining what would be best for my foot and what I plan on doing. If you want friendly, incredibly knowledgable and helpful staff, and you enjoy supporting local businesses, you gotta come to Jus' Running. Yeah, everyone knows if you want a steal on shoes, you go to Amazon or Zappos, but those websites don't build community and a love for running like your local running store does (Not to mention income equality and job creation outside of India). Like I said, the staff here is great, and well worth supporting. When was the last time "Amazon" stood in the freezing cold to cheer you on at the Turkey Trot? Not sure how I didn't end up writing a review for Jus' Running but it is never too late. I moved to AVL and needed a new running store and ended up finding much more. They can help anyone at any level from walker to Marathoner//Ultramarathoner,etc. They have a great selection and can definitely help you find the right fit for your running needs. Their running groups both made my transition easier and improved my pace. I believe every day but Friday and Sunday they have running groups. Every town needs a Jus' Running. I've been suffering with plantar fasciitis for two years. This is the first time I have ever walked into a shoe store and be asked to take off my shoes and walk. The staff are very knowledgeable of their product, as well as ailments suffered from the possibility of wearing poorly fitted shoes. He carefully listened and evaluated my symptoms, then came to the conclusion that I needed shoes that would support the stabilization of my gait. He then hooked me up with the perfect pair of Brooks running shoes. I put them on immediately after leaving the store. After hours of walking around in the local malls and doing some holiday shopping, my feet are still pain free... You don't get this kind of customer service from amazon or a shoe store in the mall. I had a great experience here. I had never had someone work with me to help me pick a running shoe before. After having me walk around to watch my gait, they looked at the arch of my foot, determined my activity level, and asked what type of terrain I would be running on. Then they began bringing out shoes. They worked with me for around 30 minutes having me try on many different brands and styles to see what worked best. Prices for the shoes are about the same as you would pay anywhere else. Only downside is that parking was pretty limited. read more

Norm was incredibly nice and helpful as my wife and I were shopping for new shoes. He spent a considerable amount of time with us as I have significant issues with my feet explaining the types of soles and shoes that I need and going through / trying on his entire inventory of a particular type of supportive arch that I might require. While I probably could have saved 10% or so by shopping online, I wouldn't have gotten the expertise, advice, and personal input that I received from Norm and his staff. The extra 10% was WELL worth this and if I lived here, I would definitely become a routine customer. read more

One the few places you can find everything from Hokas to racing flats! The people that work there are also runners. Its sooooooooo nice being able to go to a place that KNOWS about running vs normal shoes stores. They also tend to have a lot of stuff on sale as well that is TOP quality products. I will also say its really close to down town and a local park so you can go running with your new shoes fast. I drive all the way from Boone NC to hear just to check out what they have. This place is awesome. I just bought my first pair of proper running shoes from Jus' Running and I honestly had no idea what I was looking for. I had been running in a 12 year old pair of New Balances so it was tricky to nail down what the best fit for how I run was going to be. This is why stores like Jus Running are so much better than a big box store at the mall etc. and why I opted to purchase my shoes from them - actual runners with tons of knowledge work here and own the place. The staff gave me tons of great insight after checking my pronation and hearing about what kind of running I was doing. After trying on a bunch of different options (seriously, I think I tried on 20 shoes over the course of a couple visits), I finally landed on a pair of Nike Pegasus and they ended up being the perfect shoe for me. Huge thanks to Jus Running for helping me find exactly what I needed. I bought a pair of shoes on 9-7-2012 and Ron was the one who helped me. I was very impressed with his knowledge and helpfulness. I wore the shoes over the weekend at work (which is what I bought them for) and experienced the same discomfort that I had in other shoes. I returned to the store today (9-13-2012 at @1300) and was "helped " by a younger man (not Ron). He was not helpful at all! I had initially asked if there were inserts that might help. I removed my shoes and walked for him and he agreed with the selection of that shoe by Ron. He stated that the shoe wasn't the problem and that I might need to get another type shoe not an insert. He was using phrases and words that I had no idea what they meant. I told him I wasn't a runner and didn't understand what he was saying. He then said that I just needed to get a different shoe. At $100+ a pair, I'm wasn't anxious to get another pair. He said that inserts would not work. Ron, I'm sorry! But your help really sucks! It was my 1st time there and my last because he was so rude and condescending. read more

I had heard good things from my co-workers about this store, so I made time to go even though it was out of the way. I needed help with a brand new pair of shoes I had previously bought from another store. Instead of sitting me down and letting me try on my shoes, the clerk gave me the product for my shoe, which I tried on while standing up and holding onto a shelf. Also, instead of telling me about the different products, she gave me one and was finished with me. Since I read that they spend 30 minutes assessing your feet for shoes, she said that was people who bought shoes there but agreed when I told her I would be more apt to come back if I had that information. She then took less than a minute having me walk around, told me very little and left to get water without further adieu. I said thank you and walked out. Had she told me in greater detail more about the assessment, showed me their line of shoes and explained why a shoe there might be a better fit, I would have either bought one of their shoes on the spot or come back when ready for a new shoe. I would also have raved to my co-workers, who are avid runners, how well I was treated. Instead, I will never visit there again and will tell people that it was a negative experience if asked. I even think the shoes are cheaper there but will not go back due to the service being sub par. If I want service, I will go to Tops for Shoes. read more

I was looking for a pair of the NB Minimus shoes, and was visiting Asheville from Florida. I found out that Jus' Running had a pair of the black ladies shoes I had been looking for. Upon arriving the man who (was the only staff member working that Sunday) brought out several pair of shoes- none of which were the minimus! He then brought out more shoes- Wrong style and color! Finally- the correct shoes and wrong size! This guy was a real jewel. My husband and I got the impression he did not want to sell us those shoes- or perhaps any shoes at all. He kept trying to discourage us from the purchase. I decided to give this guy one last shot, and asked to try on a pair of the men's minimus shoe in a whatever size would be equivalent to a women's 10 and a half. He said he only had a men's 8 and a half. (Even though this was the correct size) I felt myself getting enraged and decided to leave. This store is supposed to specialize in running and have knowledgable staff who are eager to sell. Needless to say- this place was JUS' DISAPPOINTING! read more
