The customer service at this store is particularly poor as the staff do not seem to understand the meaning of their job titles. They are generally unhelpful and can be sarcastic when you are asking for hep. Their returns policy is a joke as they are reluctant to accept any returns and try to fob you off. If you are buying an item e.g electricals that is kept in their secure warehouse, you are likely to find the packaging very damaged and the contents may not work for that reason.

I am passionate about the Fairtrade Movement, and so I think it's…read morereally good that Dornoch, having had Fairtrade status for a few years, now has a wonderful shop dedicated to selling fairly traded products and helping people work their way out of desperate situations and get themselves a decent standard of living. I can do almost all of my Christmas and general gift shopping there, because there's such a wide variety of stuff from all over the world. Of course, I can't resist all the yummy food, chocolate and sweeties either! :D The atmosphere is always friendly - indeed the door is often opened for you as you go in! They play a lot of world music which makes a great change from the mainstream stuff that one hears in many shops. You're sure to find something really different for presents or even just to treat yourself! Fantastic little shop and I hope to see more Simply The Best shops opening elsewhere in the future :D

Upstairs there is costumes and novelty items along with household things like bedding and curtains/towels, to childrens toys. Downstairs there is a vast selection of occassion cards and occasion gifts and items for birthdays, weddings, engagements and so on. At the very back there is a selection of 99p or less items which is kind of like an aladdins cave. They have recently taken in some really cool car accessories which has certainly delighted my husband. At the front of the shop there is a selection of smellies and ornaments, candles etc, as well as a selection of ready made highland dress items, from kilts, and shirts, to sporrans, belts and pins. This shop is most definately known for its selection of costumes for halloween. They always put on a fantastic display for different holidays/seasons throughout the year, which are very enticing, especially there window displays which are always dramatic at halloween. Christmas is another fantastic time, and they always have there stock busting from the seams, fantastic stuff. Because this shop is a very popular shop it does get very busy, and with the till at the front of the shop where the entrance is it can mean that customers are pushing past and trying to move, not good at all another down side, is that disabled individuals and those that find it hard to climb stairs have no way of accessing the upper level as there is only a staircase, which is not very fair as they are missing out on a lot. Apart from that though the shop is fantastic, the staff are lovely, very helpful and always polite, the stock is quality. Parking is never a problem as the shop is situated right smack bang in the middle of the high street with parking behind the shop as well as behind the other shops at the opposite side.
