This tattoo was stood by a recently promoted apprentice named Magi who is now at big city tattoo. This tattoo is completely blown out already and the ink was so deep that the tattoo is lumpy. She obviously didn't know what she was doing as far as the depth of the ink going into someone's dermis. We originally wanted to add white ink to another tattoo that was blown out to make it look right, but she told me that that was the wrong approach and we had to do this gigantic cover up. I'm hooked for life at junkyard ink. My artist, Dray, did wonders with my "writer's sleeve," incorporating an antique typewriter, fountain pen and other embellishments, in order to make a complete masterpiece! The studio has a friendly and laid back environment, where many of the artists also display some of their drawings and paintings. I'm already of themes for my left arm to get done at Junkyard. My only regret is that I didn't find them earlier, and have some past tattoos from other parlors that I regret. read more

i got my first tattoo here and it was amazing, and my artist was amazing too. my boyfriend also got a tattoo here and the reason i'm giving it 4 starts is because my boyfriend artist did really patchy work, while she created what we wanted it was just done poorly (witch is okay i think she's new). but i will be coming back again when i get my next tatto! read more

I am ABSOLUTELY thrilled! I went to Bolder Ink and Smokey Banana early today to consult about a small tattoo in the handwriting of Steinbeck. Both Bolder Ink and Smokey Banana were plenty clean and professional but I felt uncomfortable and talked down to, where as Ivan at Junkyard made me feel incredibly comfortable and listened to exactly what I wanted instead of trying to do it in his style alone. I cannot recommend Ivan more, he was friendly and understanding and the work he created is beautiful. Pricey if your tattoo is small and would be below the 100$ minimum but absolutely worth every penny. read more

TERRIBLY disappointed with Anna! I met with Chris who was awesome and said "Anna is your girl." After over a month of requesting art samples from her, there was not only no art sent but barely any reply to my texts. I wasted a month of my time waiting for her. No one should be that flaky and expect to have good results with potential customers. Hah "professionals." I would NOT recommend that you go here. pretty much ROBBED. Ryan let me down completely. I put my deposit down and scheduled a date to get it done and I showed up, but the artist did not. I contacted him and he told me another time we could do it but he failed to meet me at that time as well. I was being patient and respectful the whole time. So we rescheduled the appointment one last time and once again.. he did not come through. I guess he hadn't even drawn the tattoo design yet. When I put down the deposit he said I could put down more than what they ask for and it would just go towards the price of the tattoo and I actually did. I feel like an idiot and it feels like I was totally scammed. If i were you I would look elsewhere. I'm still in touch with him cuz at first, of course the deposit was non refundable, but he knew what he did was wrong and said he would pay me back. But now we are playing the game again where he tells me a date or a week to contact him and he falls through just like he did with the tattoo. VERY UN-PLEASED. If your driving down that way just continue down into Boulder and there are plenty of places with more experienced artists. Maybe the other artists at junkyard are alright but I wouldn't even check it out. read more
