I drove from Maryland to get tattooed by Rachel Schilling, and this shop is phenomenal! Rachel did an absolutely phenomenal job on my tattoo, and I couldn't be happier. I own two Rachel Schilling original paintings, both of which are also beautiful (and they sell art in the shop, so even if you aren't up for a tattoo, check out the art). All the artists are so friendly and helpful, and Rachel was totally willing to work with me for MONTHS before I actually came in. She let me make a deposit way in advance, and even make additional payments. She worked with me the whole way and created a final product that is absolutely stunning. I highly, highly recommend any one of the amazing artists working here. The artists here, at least in my experience with Rachel, are dedicated to their craft and passionate. I cannot stress how happy I was with the outcome of my piece, and the entire experience itself. As someone who has a number of tattoos, I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for good work at a good price. read more

When deciding on a tattoo shop for a simple script tattoo on my ribs, I visited pretty much all of the shops around Boulder. Even though this was a pretty simple tattoo, I have really high standards and wanted to find the right person who was on the same page with my stylistically. Although several of the other shops in town- Boulder Ink and Tribal Rights- have some great artists, I just didn't find the right person.. I wanted the script to be very delicate and feminine; as the majority of the artists that I met with were male, I found their ideas to be somewhat heavy and while beautiful and ornate...just not what I was looking for. So, Auspicious tattoo is a small shop and they don't have tons of artists sitting around. They typically have one of their artist there at any time, but it's better to make an appointment if you want to see someone specific or have an extensive idea that you want to chat about. The shop itself if really nice (Clean!), while small it has style and I felt super comfortable there. Ultimately the artists are amazing and super friendly. As I mentioned, my tattoo was relatively simple, but I had a specific style that I wanted and the meaning is sentimental to me, so I refused to compromise the quality based on that. Rachel Schilling did my tattoo and I wouldn't change a thing. She was really receptive to my ideas but also offered expertise and professional perspective to make sure that what I got would look great and last. I love the tattoo. I also met with Reed, who was also really helpful and nice. While I was there, one of his clients came in and showed me a cover-up that Reed had done which was phenomenal. The artists here are top-notch, passionate, experienced and creative. Just stop in and take a look at some of their pieces! read more

What is wrong with me? What has taken me so long to write this review? Rachel is AWESOME. I really needed to get a tattoo - and getting it done on a particular date mattered to me. I checked out a couple different shops and made a few phone calls, but nothing really felt right. There are definitely a lot of great artists in Boulder, but the atmosphere was important to me, too. On my lunch break (and on a whim), I stopped by Auspicious Ink to take a peek. My timing worked out well as it was just before Rachel was sitting down to knock out a piece. I spoke with her for a couple minutes, but what really sold me was her whole attitude - her willingness to chat quickly on the fly, her flexibility in scheduling, and her open demeanor. The shop itself seemed private, well-secured, and well decorated. When I showed up for my appointment a couple days later, Rachel made the whole process so easy. I've gotten tattoos done in other spots along the East Coast, but Rachel is the first artist who I really enjoyed talking to. She had interesting stories to share and was down to listen. Apart from being a genuinely cool person, she was also very professional. She went above and beyond to ensure that the stencil was placed precisely. She made sure to show me her set-up and the sterile equipment before we jumped off. When it was time to put needle to ink, she cranked the tattoo out faster than anticipated - and it looked even better than I had imagined. She added in small details that really made the tattoo pop. That day, I walked away with an awesome new tattoo that melded seamlessly with my existing tattoos. And not only was the work spot on, but Rachel really made the whole experience overwhelmingly positive. I cannot recommend Rachel enough! read more

I'm happy to be the first to write a review of Auspicious Tattoo! I've been getting tattooed by Reed for the past 4 years. I have two wrist pieces and both of my feet - its been really amazing to see how his style has changed and evolved on my skin! My first tattoo is still gorgeous, haven't had to re-touch or anything and my most recent (let's just say...single needle on top of foot...fml) is 100% healed and gorgeous. The shop is clean, cozy and welcoming. I haven't met the other tattooists but I referred a friend to Rachel and he was really happy with her work (his first tattoo!). I can't sing enough praise for Rachel Schilling (and the rest of the crew at Auspicious). The shop is a co-op, which means all three artists own and run it. Adam, Rachel, and Reed are extremely experienced, talented, knowledgeable, and all-around gems! I've been into plenty of shops where there's a rough and tough, cold attitude... but at Auspicious, they make you feel like family. The shop itself has a very intimate and artsy feel to it, and is such a nice space to be tattooed in. I can't tell you how happy I am with my latest ink. Not only was Rachel super responsive when I asked for a last minute appointment, but she more than surpassed my expectations with the design she put together for me to cover up an old piece. She took my abstract idea and turned it into a beautiful reality. The shading is simply amazing and I love her linework. The shop is small, but funky and comfortable. I was first tattooed by Rachel when she worked at Sol Tribe in Denver. She was so down to earth, knowledgable, and an amazing artist. I got one piece done by her and I was sold!! Rachel's technique was amazing and she taught me several things about tattooing while she worked on my tattoo. I have got numerous compliments on the quality of the script and the tattoo. It is almost 4 years old and looks like new! I went back to be tattooed by her, this time bringing my boyfriend. Rachel remembered me from my previous tattoo and welcomed me back with open arms. My dad and I wanted to get matching tattoos and when asked where we should go, I thought of Rachel immediately. My father and I headed up to Boulder and he was blown away by Rachel's art and technique. He even took a picture with Rachel and happily shows it off when someone asks about his tattoo. I am in love with script tattoos and know no one better at script than Rachel!! All of my tattoos are flawless and look like new. I get numerous compliments about them and am proud to tell everyone who is responsible for these works of art. Went in with my friend to watch her get a basic tattoo on her foot, and the artist Rachel was extremely rude and told me to fuck off because I was interested in becoming a tattoo artist and called it a "tattoo gun" instead of a "tattoo machine". I'm a fan. From the moment I peeked in the door to be greeted by their sweet office dog until now, with a completed tattoo that had no healing issues whatsoever, my experience at Auspicious Ink was a good one. i walked into auspicious tattoo a little after 6 on a friday night (their sign says they close at 6ish). i really wanted a tattoo on the inside of my finger. reed was upfront in the middle of drawing a design but took the time to talk to me about the disadvantages of the finger tattoo (blow out, fade out, etc). he didn't have time to do the tattoo (which i still wanted) so he called up rachel. she was at home but came over just to do my tattoo. the process was quick and i love it! she was really friendly and the tattoo turned out amazing! if i wasn't from california i would definitely go back to her! overall they were friendly, informative, and went out of their way to make sure i got my tattoo done that night. highly recommend! read more
