With this service in mind, you'd think they'd be better equipped with protective solutions. They started off fast and efficient which we appreciated. But when it came to the larger furniture like the couch, mattress, and bedframe.. they dragged my furniture on the ground outside. I watched carefully and had to request not to drag.. they did not wrap the furniture or use any blankets to keep from damage. All of my furniture is new within the last 1.5 years as when I moved to the apartment they were moving me away from, I ordered completely new furniture that were delivered up to my unit in boxes and assembled myself. I lived alone, didn't have pets, no kids, rarely had guests over. My furniture was clean and pristine. They also pushed a brand new office chair with wheels on asphalt. One of the movers commented on poor assembly of the bed frame.. hello, you are moving someone who lives here.. who else would have assembled it? They moved my stuff in a trailer with no cover, and again, no protective solutions like a tarp to cover at the very least. Once all the furniture was moved, we saw holes and skid marks all over my new couch, bed frame and mattress. We brought it up to them before they left and they said they tried their best in the elevator, when it was clear these were asphalt marks and I saw with my own eyes how they treated everything. We have since put in a claim with Chunks of Junks via email to which they SEEM cooperative simply because they are emailing us back. We've done everything they've asked like provide photos of the damage, share the value of each piece, etc. But it's been more than TWO MONTHS without resolve.

Late post: decided to re-share here, too…read more Ryan and Chris did an exceptional job getting me moved. They are well-mannered, warm hearted, and charming. Moving can be complicated. These guys make an excellent team and took away a lot of my stress. UPDATE 10 minutes later: The total I was given at time of exit was almost $200 (short) off, apparently. :-/ Shortly after leaving, I get a phone call saying there's a glitch in the system and I didn't get the right total, even though I confirmed with the men multiple times prior to departure and payment. They were still very competent and kind men/movers, but the glitch in the system seems nefarious and I'm left feeling like the company is at fault and it's designed that way intentionally.... Was going to hire them again soon, but sadly not now. Unfortunately, I have to change my 5 star rating due to a company error...that sounds incredibly fishy. Fortunately, I tipped the young men in cash. Although, my intuition tells me they told me the lower total to get the higher tip. Have a great day! Happy moving.

Avoid College Hunks at All Costs - Unreliable, Unprofessional, and Shockingly Rude…read more I'm writing this after what should have been a simple junk removal job turned into a complete disaster, thanks to the staggering unprofessionalism of College Hunks. I had previously used them twice for my business and was thrilled with the service--so much so that I tipped generously both times. Based on that, I trusted them with a much larger job at my home: removing a truckload of old furniture in preparation for professional cleaners the next day and a major furniture delivery Saturday. Because of the tight timeline, I paid more to use them again, confident they'd show up and get the job done. I confirmed the correct home address and personal phone number with them twice to avoid any confusion with my business location. They gave me a 1:30-3:30 PM window and promised a 30-minute heads-up call beforehand. At 3:20 PM, having heard nothing, I called the 888 number. I was told the job had been canceled because they couldn't reach me--at my business number. Despite having corrected this repeatedly, they called the wrong number, asked for me, and then didn't even leave a message. When I asked for a later slot that day, I was told they could try for 4-6 PM. Problem solved, I thought. Then came the worst customer service interaction I've had in years. About 30 minutes later, I got a call from a woman who was rude from the moment I picked up. She cut me off constantly, raised her voice, and bizarrely accused me of not answering the door when her team supposedly showed up--something that never happened. There was no knock, no doorbell, no missed call. When I calmly asked to speak with a manager, she yelled over me and then hung up on me. I called the corporate line, thinking they might want to know how poorly their brand was being represented. They were sympathetic, but ultimately told me they had no authority over local franchises. In other words: I was out of luck. Now, I have to cancel my other scheduled services and start the process over with a company I can actually count on. Bottom Line: Do not do business with College Hunks. They may have good teams in some places, but the complete lack of accountability, the combative customer service, and the inability to fix even the most basic mistakes made this a stressful, expensive ordeal. Every time they answered the phone with, "How can we help you have a stress-free day?" I nearly laughed. This was anything but.
