[Disclaimer: I don't know how much it costs for accommodation, as both of my visits were for a women's retreat weekend. The organizer of the retreat was responsible for the financial details.] I've stayed at Juniper Well Ranch two times and both times, I've been greatly impressed by the beauty of the property. Located just outside Prescott, JWR boasts acres of beautiful countryside with accommodation types ranging from quaint, but fully equipped cabins, to more adventurous options, like a yurt and a safari tent. Guests can bring their own food, or plan to drive back to Prescott for meals (definitely not as convenient!). Plenty of linens and blankets are provided. Guests staying in the adventurous accommodations can use the 2 half bathrooms (sink and toilet) in the office building; there is also one full bathroom with a gorgeous shower in the new "Santa Fe" building. My women's retreat took over the entire property both times I visited and it was great fun to visit with the animals (horses, goats, cats, peacock!) and enjoy nature. I have stayed in a teepee and the safari tent, appropriately named the "Hemingway." The safari tent boasts a king size, 4 poster bed which was really comfortable! JWR is available for weddings, retreats, and other large events, as well as for solo guests/families, space permitting. read more

Absolutely loved this place! We were looking for a getaway for Labor Day weekend, and at about a two hour drive from Scottsdale this was perfect. Talk about remote....we couldn't hear or see anybody else, or any of the other cabins. We haven't enjoyed that kind of silence and peace in a long time! No internet, no cell service, no tv.....for us, we liked that. But if you can't handle being totally disconnected, then this place is NOT for you. We stayed in the Granite Rose cabin, which had lots of rustic charm. Though we didn't use the loft (which had an additional full size bed, as well as a tiny bed for a child), it provided a nice additional sleeping area. The main bed downstairs was extremely comfortable. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Kitchen stocked with lots of cooking equipment. Boardgames for your enjoyment (we had some mean Scrabble games lol!). In the winter, the woodburning stove would be the main (if not only) source of heat...but we didn't need it in August. Awesome porch with some extremely comfy chairs that we sat and "nature-watched" on. Weber kettle grill for b-b-qing, which we used both nights for dinner since we didn't want to have to drive on the unpaved dirt roads in the evening. We loved the animals on-site, especially the goats. The remoteness of our cabin, and the location in general, was a perfect fit for our small dog as well. We didn't have to worry about him barking too loud to disturb the neighbors, etc. The gentleman (and his young daughter) who oversaw the property was very personable and helpful, and made us immediately feel welcome. The brewery down the road was a blast (Barnstar Brewing), and downtown Prescott was about a 20 minute drive. Watson Lake is about a half hour away. This place quickly made it to the top of our weekend getaway list. read more

My wife and stayed here for 2 nights in the Adobe cabin this past weekend. First, we normally take our own food wherever we go and thank God we did. There is nothing for about 25 miles so if you came without food and one who likes eating out then you might be disappointed. The cabin itself was amazing. It was an absolutely perfect set-up and the inside was perfect as well. The cabin had all the cookware one needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well. Our dogs loved the privacy and the goats/horses. The only 'negative" was there was no staff to answer questions. We were interested in wine tasting and thought they offered it and the owner never responded to my text message to her cell phone regarding this. But, other than that it was a beautiful and serene spot. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE wish I could give 5+ The hubby and I get away from our friends and family for Thanksgiving every year for the last 5 years and love it.....I know.......but try it......you will like it too. Leave all the drama, work, stress, kids (JK) behind, this place has it all........ and a LARGE amount of nothing. Peace and quiet, majestic mountains a nice train track that only passes by a couple times, just enough to crush a few penny's, hiking trails, sunny spots and More than I can say. The cell and internet is spotty unless you go to the main office (that is if you or your kids phones are physically attached.) We are only there about 1 hour before we forget we live in a 3 million plus metroplex with NEWS always on. The grounds are so spread out you don't see or hear your neighbors. This last time we stayed their was a couple with their children that checked out after one day because they did not have cell phone coverage, a TV and were not in driving distance to the Walmart in Prescott. UHMMMMMMMM what part of........W. Tough Country Trail .......did they miss. This is dirt road folks and is just off the highway only 25 min from downtown Prescott. We were glad to see them flatlanders leave! If splendid isolation is not your thing....this is not a good fit. I manage every year to have a feast for Thanksgiving with all the left overs! A few things are brought up ahead of time, but I make a mean crock pot beer turkey and mashed potatoes that day and it is tasty! Prices are not expensive......however.....this is not a KOA. I would say it is an Exceptional value for what you get. Peace of mind and spirit PRICELESS! The staff is wonderful and leave you to yourself unless you need anything, then you hear the buzz of work cart with towels, or more wood for the fireplace, they go above and beyond. WE LOVE the people and Juniper Well Ranch. read more

Had a wonderful weekend at JWR... Peaceful, serene, & beautiful property with a warm charm. We stayed in the sweet Purple Sage cabin, which was very comfortable and charming - rustic yet cozy & comfy. We will return. Also, we loved visiting the goats and horses on property.. This place is fantastic. My family was looking for a remote location up in the mountains. This place was just what we were looking for. We stayed in the purple sage cabin which was perfect for our family of 4. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable! Loved walking the property having the kids enjoy the goats and horses. If you need a quiet weekend away from the noise of the city and technology this is the place. Train robbers hike was easy for our 2.5 year old as well. We are already planning on coming back. There is no cell service which is one of the reasons we picked it! Beautiful scenery, friendly owners, fantastic family time. read more

We spent this past weekend in the Adobe cabin at this location. The cabin was adorable and both my wife and I had a very relaxing time. It's a bit on the rustic side which adds more to the charm of the place. There are multiple cabins to choose from and they sleep anywhere from a few to one that can hold an entire family tree. The ranch is remote and cell service is generally not available in the area which actually makes this city escape even better! We will be back! read more

I've been to Juniper Well Ranch a few times. Since it's turn over to the new owners, the last few times have been a hassle with lodging. I was told I would get a cabin and then one time was given a twin bed on the floor in the main house. The second time, I was there, I had again a confirmed reservation for a shared cabin with a queen size bed and instead was put in a dark room in the common space building with a queen sized mattress on the floor and no shades on the double doors, which faced the road. I was charged the same amount for the queen size mattress on the floor as I would have been for the queen sized bed with a box spring and a frame in the quaint, nicely decorated cabin in the woods away from the hustle and bustle of the school programming being done in the common space building. It was especially important for me to have a bed that was not on the floor due to the fact that I've had two low back surgeries and I still have regular pain. The business owners knew of my condition and placed me where they did regardless and did not communicate with me that they had changed where I was staying until I had arrived onsite with no car of my own. An arrogant, disrespectful, unaccommodating, pompous man named Everett ran the place while we were there; making the whole experience much less pleasant. Several of the people I was there with were over charged and/or moved to a different building without being asked upon their arrival. When I tried to come to a compromise with him he refused to acknowledge that there was any difference in what I had reserved versus what I was given. I have pictures to prove that there was a significant difference. The horses on the property are not well cared for. They are under fed and their body condition shows it. The owners of the property take poor care of the animals in general. Their manes are matted and their coats are dull and in dire need of brushing. I've never seen the owners working their horses or even brushing them. While it is a beautiful place, I would definitely not recommend staying at Juniper Well Ranch. At least not until it is under new ownership. read more

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We requested an early check in, but the night before we were to arrive; we received a call from the owner stating that the couple who were renting our cabin requested a late check out. She stated that we were able to still come early, but we could stay in another cabin for the same rate. So we agreed, however; when we arrived the cabin was not ready so we had to wait about an hour. The cabin was dirty, food was still left over from the previous renters, and there were spiderwebs between the logs all over the cabin. The bed was very uncomfortable as well. We only stayed one night, but had to pay for both nights. The owners request that you use a walkie talkie, which never worked. We tried to reach the owners several times, and we had to finally use the office phone to call them. I was really disappointed and we did not have a good experience. read more
