I walked through this bookstore quite intentionally on several occasions in the past two years. It…read moreis filled with light, people, and books set out in a way that makes you want to stay for hours. Kira is a fabulous guide without being too in the way-a fine balance that is not easy to strike. We recently cross recommended books to each other because the Experience there is about being a reader. Kira provides opportunities for her customers and we in turn are able to make purchases and sometimes have conversations which make for quite a Meaningful experience. The most recent recommendation was Little by Edward Carey. Kira was so thoughtful in hearing my interests and hope for a "good read" - she made a great suggestion to "not read the back cover summary " and went so for as to cover it (quite neatly). For this I am grateful as the summary would not have inspired me as much as the book itself did and it may have deterred my buying it. This book engaged me in a way I did it anticipate - a must read. There is not algorithm for this online - I am an exclusive bookstore shopper and will return again and again to Merritt Bookstore when I am in the area. Thank you Kira!

Two floors of books and a book themed restroom! Amazing. Merritt Books is at the end of Millbrook,…read morekind of tucked away to the side. They have two sides of the building for parking lot. Inside is books everywhere, with the listing price. They are beautiful, love the selection, and one of the cashiers really talled up the book I got. The enthusiasm was infectious, it's lovely to see people so passionate in what they do.

Originally from Kentucky, Terry is now a full time resident of Connecticut after spending three decades in New York. The tastefully curated collection of items and Terry's welcoming and friendly nature make a visit to the tiny general store a pleasant experience. Woodford's General Store is the perfect destination for those looking to pick up some newfound culinary treats and a house gift when visiting friends and family in the vicinity of Kent. I exited the store with a goldenrod wool throw from Evangeline, a Maine-based textile company, and a pear-cardamom pie from Kent's High 5 Pies in hand. This small business is the kind I am happy to find as it enhances and supports the community.

That one of a kind piece none of your friends have and will give a room extra pop? It's here. Woodford's doesn't have a physically large foot print, and is located next to the 109 Cheese Shop. There are parking spots on two sides of the building. As mentioned, there are housewares with ceramic glasses and plates, candle stick holders, designed paper, etc. There are also shelf stable snacks (matzo chips!), and a fridge with cheese, milk, and vegetables. (The Four Fat Fowl cheese is AMAZING) They also keep a cooler with a limited stock of frozen food, including lasagna, and have fresh vegetables on hand during the week. The mushroom display seems pretty constant though.

Daffodils Gift Shoppe

I do not normally leave reviews, but the level of commitment to customer service with Daffodils…read moreGift Shoppe deserves it! I would give 10 stars if possible. I purchased an item online and to be honest, I was a bit reluctant since I did not know the business. The item was discontinued but they happened to still have it in stock and I really wanted the item. A few days later, they contacted me to tell me there was an error in the picture on their website. The picture of the pen that I purchased showed a charm that was not included. I immediately anticipated what most companies would have done and I expected the order to be canceled. I was astonished as I read that they had contacted the manufacturer and the charm was still available. They would purchase the charm and have the manufacturer ship it directly to me and they would ship the pen if I chose to proceed or if I preferred, I could cancel the order. I really wanted the pen so I told them to proceed with the sale. I was promptly emailed that the pen had shipped and it arrived quickly. A few days later, I received not only the charm from the manufacturer, but two packages of refills were included. I had inquired about the refills but they didn't carry them in their store. They not only ordered the charm but they ordered the refills, too! You do not encounter this level of customer service nowadays! The charm cost as much as the pen so they lost money on this sale but they obviously value their reputation more than money. They could have saved money by canceling the order. I would have went on with life and not thought about their company again. Their level of customer service shines so brightly that I've bookmarked their website and if I need a gift in the future, they will have my business! I will also be recommending them to others - hence, the need to take time to leave this review.

I like to support small local businesses but not when I feel like we are considered to be stealing when looking and handling items. Good luck but I'd advise people to avoid this place.
