I was looking for a special bracelet and necklace that I had purchased in the state of Florida. The supplier said the only place near me to have it was Beekman Pharmacy. This was nothing expensive but some thing my wife wanted as gifts for relatives. I called and was lucky enough to get Annie on the phone who was very helpful. I am about 35 miles away and asked if they could ship to me. Annie said they don't do shipping but the post office was next door and she would be glad to do it for me. WOW !!!! what great customer service. She arranged for everything to be done. I can't say enough about how nice she was and appreciate the service. It's too bad that one unfortunate experience, one time with one person, rates one star when every other review of this place is 5 stars. One star can really drag you down, which is a real shame, especially with a place that has a great variety of classy merchandise and a friendly staff that goes out of its way to help. If you need a gift, a card, an amusing trinket for your home or car, beautiful pottery, a funny sign, wind chimes, candy, jewelry, scarves or shawls or seasonal doodads etc. etc., this is the only nice place for miles and miles where you're always guaranteed to find something tasteful, and can browse all you please without any pressure at all. Oh, and they also sell cosmetics and household necessities, hair stuff and makeup as well as the usual pharmaceutical remedies, both over-the-counter and prescription. The associates are friendly and quite knowledgeable. The pharmacists, Arnold, Mena and Tony are empathetic and especially knowledgeable in recommendations and filling prescriptions. Best pharmacy EVER! My son is on several medications and the pharmacy staff are always helpful filling his prescriptions. If they don't have a medication they get in less than a day! Their shelves are well stocked with anything you might need from first aid to sick room supplies. The card and gift areas are also lovely and well-priced. I've been living here in Poughquag for 13 years and have been using Beekman Pharmacy from the beginning. I remember it before the expansion and even then the staff like now was always friendly,helpful and professional. The card section,and gift areas are all a plus. I'm am also great full for the concern they show when a new medication is given to me and they check to see if it is something I can take without a problem. Today I went into Beekman pharmacy because my grandmother purchased a gift card for me for Christmas and for some reason it didn't activate so I had to go in and have it reactivated. I had not been to this pharmacy in probably 10-15 years when I was a child. Activating the gift card again was not a problem and the woman who helped me was great and very friendly. I decided to look around seeing that I had not been there in so long. I get to the cosmetics section (my weakness) and started picking out a few different makeup products and also 3 makeup brushes as always I got ahead of myself and literally said in my head " I have 8 million make up products I do not need more put it back!" Which I did except for one lipgloss. I continued looking around the store and it's pretty large with a lot of great knickknacks. I notice this blonde woman walking around the store I figured she worked there and was maybe straightening up or doing inventory I'm pretty sure I heard someone call her Lisa but I am not positive on that. I honestly didn't think anything of it I spent about 30 minutes looking around and then headed to the register to pay for the lipgloss (and I was pretty proud of myself for not getting more then that!) so I pay and while at the register the blonde woman was standing right next to me, again I thought nothing of it and turned to walk out and I said bye have a good day, she said nothing and gave me a dirty look and I just brushed it off and went to walk out the door. So I'm halfway out the door and the blonde woman is behind me and says wait I have a question for you and she then accused me of shop lifting saying that she saw me with A bunch of cosmetics in my hand and she thought that I apparently put them in my purse because the next time she saw me I only had the lipgloss in my hand she said I saw on the video that you had a bunch of stuff in your hand and now you didn't pay for anything but a lipgloss and basically out wright accused me of stealing so I immediately said no absolutely not and opened my purse and showed her that there was nothing in there that wasn't already mine I literally only had my wallet and the bag with the lipgloss that I had just bought. I was kind of caught off guard but had nothing to hide and willingly showed her in my purse she continued to give me a dirty look and look me up and down and I basically turned and walked away because I knew I had done nothing wrong as I got in my car I became angry and offended that this just happened and I wanted to go back in and say to her well if you saw me on video taking those products off-the-shelf then you would've seen me also put them back but instead she just jumped to conclusions decided to follow me around the store because it turns out that's what she was doing and then as I'm walking out the door she decides to accuse me of shoplifting I didn't go back in I just let it go I understand the world that we live in and that people do bad things all the time I knew I had done nothing wrong but I am very offended and embarrassed and the worst part is after she accused me and after I proved to her that I did not take anything she couldn't even say that she was sorry or apologize for accusing me of such things instead she just looked me up and down gave me dirty looks and basically what I got was that she still thought that I had those product somewhere on me in my pockets or wherever which I did not! so now that I've written a very long review I just want to say that I will probably never go back to that establishment and that, that woman really needs to think and be sure before she does something like this again. I would not recommend this place to anyone for that reason customer service is the most important aspect of a business and I am very disappointed in the way she handled that situation.
