I've been to over 15 barber shops in the Valley and Junior's Barber Parlor is by far the best shop I've been to in Arizona! The second you walk in they treat you like family! If you make an appointment they can fit you in right away. I don't usually write reviews but I have been going to Junior's to get my hair cut since October and out of the respect and quality of service I receive as a customer, I felt the need to take the time to write a review. Let's start with the shop itself. The first thing I always look at when I walk into a Barbershop is cleanliness. I don't want to get my hair cut in a dirty place. Junior's place is the cleanest I've been to. Everything is organized and the employees clean up hair between clients. The place is well-lit too. Junior keeps an extra light close to his chair. I point this fact out, because other Barbershops I've been to are dark and dim. I want my barber to see what they're doing and pay attention to detail when cutting my hair. Second is the atmosphere. I did not know Junior before I started going to get my hair cut. As soon as you walk through the door staff greet you and are welcoming even of they don't know you. There are flat screen TV's usually dialed into Sportcenter and there is plenty of room to sit while you wait. Now the haircut is why I go. First off, I make an appointment. That is the easiest way for me but I see the staff take walk-ins as well while I'm in the chair. Because I make an appointment the wait is never more than 5min. The most important thing to me is attention to detail! My hair is not easy to cut. My wife had been cutting my hair for the past 4 years and I don't trust very many to cut my hair. I have not found anyone who cuts and fades my hair better then Junior. No BS. You can tell this man has been cutting hair for years and is a master of his trade. From the first time I went into Junior's, every cut has been on point. The old-school barber chairs and the neck shave to finish off the taper make the experience one of the best in Phoenix. I legitimately tried with this place. I went multiple times and had multiple barbers. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone trying to find a new place. They'll hand you off to their worst barber and he's not good at all. Junior is the only one who's actually good, but he won't take new clients. I went to 3 different barbers here. My hair and beard got so messed up that I sent pictures in to Junior and he refunded me instantly and was very apologetic. Ruined my beard that I'd been growing for months to the point where I shaved the entire thing off. My haircut looked like it was hacked up at SuperCuts. I told him what I wanted and he didn't listen whatsoever and just did what he wanted to do. Junior gave me my next cut, then disappeared. Wouldn't answer any texts or requests for an appointment. Or if he does finally reply a day later, he says he's booked and doesn't even suggest another day or time. Just leaves it at, "I'm booked". I won't let anyone else there cut me, it's not worth it. I took my boys here for their first REAL barber experience. My littlest one got his hair cut by Junior himself and my oldest boy got his haircut by a lady that works there. Both of them had excellent experiences, haircuts that you can't get just anywhere, all of the staff was super nice, we didn't wait long and their prices are super reasonable. My little one said that only Junior is allowed to cut his hair from now on! My oldest boy said that it's the best haircut he ever had bad they both agreed I'm never going to take them anywhere else for a haircut. This place was wonderful. First off I have to address the one negative review regarding the wait-time. This isn't some Great Clips, SuperClips shop this is a independent business that excels at their customer service and their craft. With four of some of the best barbers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, it would be assumed that their clientele is massive and would require someone to book an appointment in advance. Based on the owner's response and some of what the reviewer posted, this person's experience occurred on a Friday (which is one of the busiest days of the week for any barbershop) and was ignorant enough to not book an appointment. Even in the review, many positives can be taking out of it. As pointed out, Junior and his employees strive to make each client feel like their apart of the "crew" (so it only makes sense that they were "more concentrated on their client than anyone else"). I hope those who use Yelp! and scroll upon Juniors Barber Parlor don't take that one, undeserving negative review into consideration because they will be missing out on the best haircut experience of their life. Now onto the my review. I moved to Phoenix in January 2018 and was in need of an excellent barber. After scrolling through Yelp!, I decided to give Junior's shop a try. Throughout the years, I've always had a barber who didn't exactly give me what I wanted each time I went to them. So when I booked my first appointment after finding Junior on Instagram ( go follow him to see his work at Junior_the_barber_), I was highly skeptical. When the day came for me to get my haircut, I went to the shop and was completely amazed at how decorated the shop was. Equipped with two large screen tv's, the classic barber swirly thing, and many different jokes and barber "sayings" on the walls, I was taken aback in regards to the pride that Junior shows in his shop. Upon walking in I was immediately greeted by Junior and his employees (they asked if I had an appointment, which I confirmed). As I waited for my turn, I observed the barbers taking the time to talk to their clients they were working on. After the client before me finished, it was my turn. Junior introduced himself to me and we clicked immediately. He asked me what I wanted as a haircut and I showed him a post from his Instagram. He asked me about some minor details and after that it was all history. After receiving the best haircut of my life and having entertaining conversations with Junior and his crew, Junior asked me to give him honest feedback in regards to his work as he "is always looking to improve". I told him that I couldn't find anything and was completely satisfied with the haircut I received. I knew from their on out I would make Juniors Barber Parlor my permanent barbershop. I've been to many barbershops across the country (from California to Delaware and in between) and I can truly say that Junior's Barber Parlor stands out the most. Not only the pride in the shop, but also the professionalism each barber carries with them. I hope this review helps those new to the Phoenix area or those in need of a new barbershop meet their barbershop needs. Just left this place. Got in an argument with the guy cutting my hair for telling him how I wanted my hair cut. The guy flipped out after I touched MY OWN HAIR during the cut. He yelled "You fucked me up! This is how you cut hair! You go from middle then left to right!" I said, ok... just didn't say anything and let him cut. Later in the cut he started tapering the back of my head and I reached back after he was done tapering to feel how short the hair was. The guy flipped out again and yelled "Why are you touching your hair?!" ITS MY HAIR! I can do what I want with it. I stood up because I couldn't take it anymore from this guy. I said "I'm done" and it seemed like he wanted to fight. Junior, the owner, was there and he was very calm and respectful and apologized for this guy's behavior. He took me outside and let me know the guy has been going through some stuff, but that is no excuse for his behavior. I lost my father a few weeks ago and deal with customers on a daily basis but I never let it affect me like this. As Junior and I were talking outside the guy went out the back and paced in the parking lot and just stared at me as if he wanted to fight. I'm not going to fight, I'm too old for that. This guy is a psycho. Junior apologized more than once and he said I could come back and he would help me out personally. But, at this point I don't want to come back. I am pretty angry and don't want to be there. Everyone else there is amazing. They are always very positive and give very very good cuts. It was this guy that has lost me as a customer. read more

Junior is the one who cut my sons hair, he made him feel like a big boy and handsome. Ran across this shop here on yelp glad I gave it a try Junior gave me the freshest hair cut since I moved away from home.
