I think we've found our "spot"! We travel to Juneau several time a year to see relatives and have had mixed success with Airbnb. Started with 4 stars but raised it to 5 so hope that change shows up. The rooms here are comfortable and would be great for a long term stay-washer and dryer in the room, Decent kitchen, good beds. Not flashy but comfortable. The staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Lots of parking. Close to downtown. Airport and AMHS terminal shuttle. Reasonable rates. Near the cool whale statue. Hotel was ok. Decent beds and setup. However, inconsistencies with the front staff can make or break you with setting up transfers and giving mixed messages and wrong information. We almost missed our transfers and had to uber to the airport. Buyer beware and have a backup plan for getting around and finding out information. read more

We were disappointed in our one-night stay here. We booked the suite - which was billed as having three beds - so our adult children would each have a bed and their own room, though one was the living room. After arriving and seeing the couch not made up we reminded the front desk that we needed the couch for one of our beds. They gave us the bedding and we had to set it up and make it ourselves. The couch was all springs without any real mattress protection, making for a very uncomfortable and disruptive night's sleep. Cleanliness, including the bathrooms, was sub-par. We didn't need to use the kitchen but if we had there weren't enough supplies to really make meals. Overall the rooms were tired and worn out. One window shade was broken. It was a warm night and there was no fan in the main bedroom, though the other two rooms had ceiling fans. Opening windows wasn't really an option as the hotel is situated at a busy street intersection, so it's pretty noisy. Windows are right on the parking lot so you need to keep the shades down most of the time. The staff was moderately helpful (see above note about couch set up) though friendly enough. Overall we'd recommend staying elsewhere. read more

Staff was not friendly, nor helpful Only two sets of towels in room for three people Shampoo, hand cream, and shower gel opened and half full No black-out curtains - sun was very bright Second room was not stocked with a trash can. Having only one mirror in the bathroom made it difficult for three people to use. Second room could benefit from a mirror. Bottom line: Excellent value for the money. They could easily make small improvements that would benefit the guests. How to treat guests to make them feel welcome is a must. Would I stay there again: yes, but I would be aware of the shortcomings. read more

Spent a few days here over the long holiday weekend and had a great visit. Location was fantastic - walkable to the entire downtown. The room itself was nice - including a full kitchen and pull out couch. My friend took the main bedroom so I slept on the pullout -- which was slightly uncomfortable as pullouts generally are... but better than others I've experienced. I liked the room configuration and the bathroom was quite large. Shower had decent water pressure, but this place literally provides NO free amenities - like, we didn't even get a bar of soap! So make sure to pack your own. Lastly, we stayed one night on my friends reservation and two nights on mine. Asked to keep the same room... which should have been a simple ask... but for some reason lots of issues due to staff's lack of communication with other staff. So my "sleeping in" plan was foiled by two separate people coming in during the am (without even a warning knock!) and then later a phone call... so not the most relaxing time. The front office folks did apologize... but it was still inconvenient. I was also disappointed that one of our shuttle requests was denied even though it was a close drive and pouring rain. In the end, it was okay but wouldn't be my first choice next time. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect of this place but I enjoyed my stay here. The room I stayed in was spotless even down to the appliances in the kitchen and water/drier combo. Not sure if this is a regular thing here but the front desk had bear spray for guests to borrow which is a nice convenience. Great location too, just about all of downtown Juneau is within a twenty minute walk or you can cross the bridge to Douglas Island. read more

I stayed in room 1204 and there was a powerful courtyard light outside my bedroom. The plastic blinds could not keep the light out and the attached pic is from 3AM. I almost could have read a book in the "dark"...very difficult for me to sleep. A $40 curtain would solve everything. Other than that, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. read more

This hotel is located on the corner between two very busy streets. Our room was very hot and we had to have the window open because there is no air conditioning. It was so loud we could not sleep. Even with the windows closed, it was loud. When we asked the front desk to change rooms, the employee said, "didn't you know where the hotel was located when you booked it." Well, no, we had never been to Juneau before. We also had some issues with our reservation and billing. I would be very cautious booking here. Make sure to insist on an email confirmation to check the dates they book for you. Also. check your bill closely for charges. The hotel was very clean and located within walking distance of the cruise docks. I booked here because of the good reviews I saw on other sites which makes me wonder how they got those reviews. read more

Most of the front desk staff are nice, friendly and courteous. They greeted me every time I walked to the dinning hall for the complimentary breakfast. Never judged me when I kept locking myself out of the room and asking for a extra key. The breakfast that I speak of consist of mediocre waffles, hard boiled eggs, fruit, muffins, cereal, milk, yogurt, apple & Orange Juice. But, one can't complain about complimentary & FREE! The rooms vary in size and some are way bigger that others. Some are just one room and others equipped with a full kitchen, washer & dryer. The house keeping is less than satisfactory, because the maid staff turns around quickly and a maiden quits almost every other week. The hotel is located in the cut down a no outlet street, so views are lacking. But it is located downtown making walking around to sights & tours great. This would be great for tourists or seasonal workers during the summer. Comfy beds, powerful Internet, and good comp Heritage Coffee. read more

My girlfriend friend and I stayed here for one week, and chose it for all the positive reviews. We were quite impressed, much better than I had expected. 5 minute walk to Foodland, and 10 min. walk to downtown Juneau. Large TV in the living room and bedroom, this place is safe, clean, well maintained, and appears fresh. We would stay here again. I wish I could give this hotel less than that. I called a week ahead to make a reservation for extended stay for my kids and I. Gave them my credit card and everything to hold said room. The day of the check in comes and I call them to possibly get an early check in since I had a baby and a special needs son. Where I was then told they had "been trying to get ahold of me." Because I need to do a background check.... so now I'm not able to check in the day I thought, and my kids and are will be sleeping in the rain tonight. I do the background check in Hope's that it goes through and my kids and I have somewhere to go. Gustavu -Their joke of a manager (check out what others have said about him. )calls me, and now my background check is done. But he then proceeds to tell me that his room wont accommodate myself and my 3 kids. 4 people. However when we look at their website it says the rooms accommodate 6 people. So not only are you an insensitive asshole, you're also a liar. The website also says NOTHING about having to have a background check. So this guy was discriminating, as well as being a total liar. He was happy to put a baby, and autistic child on to live on the street tonight. While I was waiting for his phone call about the background check, I was able to find a place where we will only pay $2200 a month, instead of his $2987 a month. So thank you to extended stay!!! Juneau hotel is nasty, non family orientated, and the manager doesn't give a shit about putting babies on the street because of HIS EMPLOYEES error. I will be reporting this to the ombudsman. 5 stars for the Juneau Hotel! 1) Front desk staff are helpful and present 24hr. 2) was able to reserve online with no problem on Expedia dot com. 3) a newer feel to the room(s) and property. 4) The basic room is a mini suite with a kitchen and bedroom, couch folds out as bed. 5) did I mention the KITCHEN! The only thing I can think that would improve the business is if covered parking was an option. Otherwise parking was fine for me as well. read more

Don't let the outside fool you. 4.5 stars. The rooms, or full kitchen suites, are great and if you get a room on the side of the building away from the road (the quite side) you will get a good night's sleep. Our room was clean and even had a washer and dryer. The kitchen is a modern kitchen including pots, pans, dishes etc. The suite was large and for the money way better than the Best Western near the airport that I moved from. We landed here for about six weeks while waiting to close on a house and I was really impressed with the staff. They accommodated our every need no questions asked. So I had a chance to stay here in January and would have to lower the rating to three stars. The cleanliness was not great, but the room is very nice. Big suite with a door between the living area and bedroom. The kitchen was great, though pots and pans were scarce. It had a dishwasher and in-room clothes washer/dryer. Pretty cool. But the floor had not been vacuumed and a couple of other cleanliness issues. Overall a good value at $99, but a little overkill if you are just by yourself. It would be perfect after a long trip to wash clothes, and do a little cooking. One of the phones did not work (luckily there were two), nor did the cable TV. read more

I really enjoyed the staff, community spaces, and rules of the Juneau Hostel. The staff (Sean and James, at the time I was there) were friendly, had a wealth of knowledge on the area, and worked hard to keep the house running cheaply and cleanly and safely, get everyone checked in and out on time, and help guests follow the rules. I felt I could ask them anything, big or small, about the Hostel, Juneau, or just traveling in general. The Hostel itself is lovely. There are a few large communal areas on the first floor, with dining space, full kitchen, chairs, sofas, books, games, Wi-fi, and even a piano! These spaces are also covered in helpful reminders for the rules and great travel and hiking info (e.g. maps and recommendations). Lots of light, felt very homey and welcoming. The beds themselves are separated into men's (garden level), women's (2nd floor), and maybe even youth (less than 18years) may have their own space on the first floor. The sleeping, bathing, and bathroom areas were all quiet and clean. There are lockers on the first floor if you want extra security. The rules themselves are few and reasonable to help ensure everyone had a good stay. Everyone has to do a small chore each day, which helps keep the house clean and cheap (I swept the kitchen and dining room, and cleaned tables). No alcohol, meet the curfew (11:00pm) and check out times (9:00am), hang up your bathmat, out your sheets in the laundry in before you leave, etc. Recommended! Not sure if it is ADA compliant, which if it's not, I hope they'll try to fix. No food is provided, though you're welcome to buy, store, and cook food in the Hostel's kitchen read more

KEEP LOOKING... The hotel presents as nice upon entering and the amenities listed are there however, old, cold and dirty. The floors were never vacuumed the entire time we were there. The dirt, lint, food remained the entire time. The bathroom wasn't cleaned either, towels collected & replaced BUT tissues, toilet paper and soaps were only replaced once we wrote notes specifically asking for those item. And then there was food left in the refrigerator from the previous guests. We monitored and it remained until the last day we were there when we threw it out!!! BUT THE BIGGEST ISSUE WAS OUR DOOR WAS LEFT AJAR. The maid never closed it after leaving. When we left at 9:00 am and returned at 5:00pm we noticed the door ajar quite a bit. Other guests had been walking by using the hallway ALL DAY!! . When we called and spoke to the manager it played out like an "OOPS" moment. Then there was dead silence. No apology. No concession like a discount or even an item from the vending machine to acknowledge their mistake. We had to take all our valuables with us every time we left the room for fear of it happening again. So, between EASY ACCESS FOR INTRUDERS/THIEVES and LACK OF GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING...I RECOMMEND ANOTHER HOTEL. You pay for both when you rent the room. I feel like I was robbed!!!!! We stayed at this hotel from July 13 thru the 16th, 2014. We were not allowed to go to our room until after 4:30PM on check-in day, because it was not "ready". We froze in the lobby waiting for this suite to be ready for more than an hour. The dirt on the fans were disgusting. The beds were not made on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. When we inquire as to when the rooms will be clean, we were told by the from desk clerk, "She has 8 rooms to clean, she will not be getting to yours." We were told, they do not put dishes in the dish washer either. We had to ask for towels every day and make our own beds. We told them if we wanted to make our own beds, and put dishes in the dish washer, we would stay home. Bookings.com placed us with this place. Almost ruined our vacation with this experience. Bookings,com, was of no help either when the complaint was filed. read more

This hotel is run by thieves and they are rude as hell. I paid cash for my whole stay totaling 1500 and they charged the card they made me give them. They have yet to refund the money and when i confronted them just kept repeating "thats our policy". So their policy is to steal money from their guests and then act like its no big deal. Their cleaning staff is a joke and left all my windows opened for what must have been all day (I left at 7 and came back around 5:30) on a 23 degree day. They stripped the bed and took all the towels but never remade the bed or brought new towels and the most puke worthy part was their were finger nail clippings on the coffy table when i got back. Gross dirty fingernails!! I called and complained about the maid and the next day they left towels that smelled like lighter fluid when i dried my face off after getting out of the shower. This place is a nightmare and made the 2 weeks i spent in Juneau hell DO NOT STAY HERE OR GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU. read more
