I've only knew…read moreabout Theravada Buddhism, which is practiced mainly in SE Asia - Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka (not SE Asia but still). Tibetan Buddhism is unique since it's sort of still Mahayana Buddhism but can be categorized as Vajrayana Buddhism. I never really understood Theravada Buddhism. My husband is Cambodian and I have a lot of Laotian friends. I've attended their temples and didn't understand it. What I love about Vajrayana Buddhism is how beautifully colorful it is to teaching you self-love and meditation. Everyone is invited. Free meditation sessions every Sunday from 11 am - Noon. Donations accepted. Gift shop with beautiful souvenirs. Everyone is very welcoming. The first three rows are for those who want to sit down on floor level to meditate. There are pillows for comfort. I sat in the front, in the middle. The monk is very well articulated and spoke with a little humor. What he speaks about is "common sense" but it will make you think again. About your life. About what it means to live. Towards the end, there was a 20ish minutes session of meditation to clear your mind. I love it! I plan to more and often again. This is such a masterpiece from every angle. And I'm glad we took a special side trip when we were going through Atlanta and saw it. It's pretty massive. There was someone who was working there though who was watching us like a hawk. We didn't do anything wrong but I guess we stuck out. So it was unsettling that they have a sign welcoming people to see their beauty but look at us like we were criminals. I ignored him and made sure to check this out nevertheless. Everyone else who we came across was extremely friendly and welcoming as if we were visiting their home.

I first visited for a one day retreat (they have one once to twice a month). The program is from 9…read moream - 6 pm, with breaks (9 am to 5 pm during winter). It is very well organized. The introduction helped set the stage for the day. The environment is welcoming and accepting. Just being away from the city and hearing the sounds of nature can change a person's mindset even if for the day. I came into this experience thinking that I would not talk for 8-9 hours. However, it was not as strict as I thought. Of course, during meditation sessions, everyone took advantage of the opportunity to sit/walk mindfully. Although we were together in a group, silent, we felt the camaraderie. In fact, I didn't even feel like talking much. I felt so at peace and had a different level of awareness that is not usually present in my daily routine in the city. If anything, this was a great getaway. We ate a clean vegetarian lunch. After the whole day's experience, I didn't even want to eat meat for dinner. A bunch of us went out to eat at a vegetarian restaurant after. I would highly recommend checking this out. You can always leave any time. It's worth giving it a chance if you're remotely interested in mindfulness and/or Buddhism.

So last Sunday, April 24, 2016, I usually go to church with my sister, Angela S and her husband, Ray S. But that Sunday I couldn't... and so.... I wanted to try out the church right around the corner where I live. I entered the church and the scenery really reminded me of the double doors to Titanic (the movie). I heard talking coming from another set of double doors and talking coming from downstairs (stairs going down on the right side). I saw a bowl of candy and immediately I heard in my spirit say to me "don't take candy from strangers" which was weird because aren't church people the one and the same as you as a believer? So that really made me question about this place. It was like stepping into a time machine when I pulled open the doors. There weren't many people at this church. So I came a bit early and Benjamin (leading Bible Study) was talking about the history of the Bible, I think. There was a projection screen and pictures on it. I wasn't really paying attention. I noticed that there weren't any instruments anywhere. I kept thinking "where do they play their instruments for the worship service?" SUNDAYS 9 AM - Bible Study 10 AM - Worship 6 PM - Worship TUESDAY (04/26) 10:30 AM - Ladies Bible Study WEDNESDAY (04/27) 7:30 PM - Bible Study It would have been helpful if there was a pamphlet about the history of this church but there were none. Worship started at 10 AM and I saw that people were coming in. Not a whole lot like you see in the mega churches. Everyone seemed to know everyone which was a good thing, I guess. So friendly and nice. I was sitting on the pews that read on the side of it "visitors". I sat at the waaaaaaaay back. I met with several people who seemed to be regulars at this church. Very nice people.. but my spirit felt uneasy and uncomfortable. Not suppose to feel that way, especially in the house of God. Something about this place really made me want to run out of that place and I didn't know why? I met Pastor Kerry (hopefully that's how you spell it) and his wife, Melody. I felt like these people weren't normal. I felt like they were faking everything. But I shouldn't make assumptions because these people are also Children of God. I asked the Holy Spirit if this was normal and I felt in my spirit that something about this place gave me the creeps! After service, I met with Laura. She's a regular at this church. She told me a small testimony about her life and how she came to the US when she was fourteen years old. I spoke to her about my experiences with demons and she told me her experiences as well. I was glad to know that there were some people who aren't embarrassed or afraid to talk about these things. We started to talk about visions and dreams. She believes that all dreams come from demons and she made it sound like we don't get visions and dreams from the Lord. But I kept trying to tell her that the Father loves to share wonderful things with his children. But she continued to cut me off.. saying it's not and stuff. So I just thought I'd pray for her. I met with Melody. I was originally suppose to talk to her right after service but I wanted to speak with Laura. I guess her spiritual level isn't high enough to reach Father. Everyone is at a different spiritual level with the Father, I believe. Melody asked me if I wanted to meet with her to Bible study just the two of us. I was like sure.. but then, later, she texted me and asked me if it was alright if she brought along her husband and other people.. not comfortable with that so I declined. I know you (as a believer) should meet with other Christians.. but something about these people just make me go ------- "AHHHHHH!!!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???" ***Note: During worship, there are no instruments and they have this really old hymn book with a lot of sleepy songs in it. I really felt like I was living in the past! Benjamin seemed to be the lead person who begins to sing the hymns and leads Bible Study... just weirded me out, I guess, because I'm used to people praising and worshiping God by raising our hands up in the air and singing up beat worship songs! Also, I asked if there was any way I could just come to the church and serve.. and they gave me the weirdest impression ever! What's wrong with serving at a church with so few people in it? They should've said "OF COURSE" but nope.. none of that.. just like a "no" kind of look. Not friendly at all type of attitude. So yea.. not coming to this church. Also, they talk about things that I already know.. how come they're not talking about how we are living in the end times? They do talk about repentance which is always a plus... but other than that. No, no, no! Not the church for me.

Temple is simple and peaceful. Well maintained and properly pujas are done as a daily routine. Many volunteers are actively participating in different events and festives. If there are any festive celebrations or groupings they are properly planned like giving brochures, tickets, prasadams etc in advance..

Sri Seshu Puranam is the founder priest of the temple. Had a great experience visiting this place. The place is always filled with activities and home like temple. Ample free parking in front of the temple. The idol of Hanumanji is so serene and divine. The temple is beautiful in a nice neighborhood. The temple door was open and as I entered I saw Hanumanji's idol and I felt so blessed. There is a flower shop next to the temple, so you can buy pooja related items from there (cash only). There is also a Indian vegetarian restaurant named Amma Kitchen in the same plaza. Tuesdays and Saturdays are very important for this temple and are busy days where 100's of devotees visit. Tuesday Bhajan and Mahaprasadam distribution are highlighting events. Would recommend all to visit Tuesday around 6:30 PM, enjoy attending Abhishekam, Arati, Bhajan and Mahaprasadam. I would definitely go back for any of their special events and occasions or if I am in the area.

The Mandir currently organizes regular set of activities like puja, arti on a daily basis, apart from organizing havans, paaths and other such programs on festivals and other such special occasions. This Shiv Mandir used to be in the Global Mall on Jimmy Carter, but 3 years back moved to this huge spacious location. I visited the Shiv Mandir of Atlanta on a Saturday noon, and it was a great experience. The view is beautiful, and the place is incredibly peaceful. The relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for unwinding and finding some tranquility. Ganesha is visible at from ground floor. And then top floor Aadi devathalu Siva Parvathi and Sri Krishna and Sitha Ram and family. A very lush green serene surrounding. Priests are good and courteous. Highly recommend this serene spot.
