The day JumpstartMD finally opened an office in Monterey County was a blessing. I had gone many years ago to their Los Gatos office, but the drive added too much to the cost. In our area we were long overdue for a serious, safe and healthy weight loss clinic, beyond what a general doctor provides (eat better and exercise). Those of us who struggle with weight loss know this doesn't work. Their doctors and health advisors closely monitor your health and progress with regular labs, consultations and InBody scans. There are a variety of injection options to boost energy, focus and other needs for a balanced approach. This is not about rapid weight loss. It is about a balanced approach for long term, sustainable weight loss, maintenance over time, and check-ins as need after that. So painfully short staffed it effects care. Short hours so really hard to get in. So busy that you can tell you're being rushed. Most doctors with prescribe Metformin now for weight loss. If you can't get in for apt to get injection you're really just paying $250 a month for Phentermine and to be weighed on a scale. This place had potential but I looked on Glassdoor and they pay their employees very poorly so they will never retain staff and people will keep being let down and leave and give them a horrible reputation. I have been with this office for several years now. They want to charge you an extra $450 to do the blood tests through them and Quest. They have an agreement with Quest to only charge Jumpstart for the blood tests so Quest cannot bill your private insurance. My insurance will cover the tests 100% so I do not need to spend the $450 to Jumpstart. I can and do take the lab sheets to a different lab. However 9 times out of 10 Dr. Holt purposefully puts an incorrect fax number on the lab sheet and, therefore, does not receive my results. When I let her know she refuses to fix her mistake and call the lab with the correct fax number. There is a definite lack of integrity there. Instead, she says I have to fix her mistake myself. I am tired of her pettiness and trying to bleed me if an extra $450 that is totally unnecessary just because she neglects to use a lab sheet with the correct fax number. Now she refuses to refill my prescriptions because she doesn't have my lab results. Why doesn't she have my lab results? Because she put a wrong fax number on the lab sheet? Why? Because she wants to charge me $450 that my insurance covers if the lab charges my insurance. This place is not honest and Dr. Holt certainly does not take responsibility for her mistakes and actions. read more

This program is bullshit and doesn't even deserve 1 star. They do not know how to tailor to athletes or performance goals and were awful with my scheduling. They scheduled me incorrectly 2 out of the 3 days I went, gave me incorrect pricing over the phone, had me meet with the wrong person on the first visit and did not listen to the specifics of my goals. If you want to get trapped eating nothing, feeling miserable, and being on a shit ton of medication that I guarantee will put you in a state of severe rebound if you ever come off of it... then come give this place your money... but if you are looking to optimize your intake, wellbeing, health, appearance, and performance... go somewhere that the doctor is ACTUALLY a doctor not just a nurse practitioner ... This program works. So far, I lost 25lbs in 5 months. I just need 10 more to go. Program is easy to follow, staff is friendly and supportive. I'm glad I did this. Jumpstart MD has been great! I have a busy life style and not a lot of time to prep and plan. I followed their basic plan and it has worked out great for me! Jennifer is wonderful when it comes to my crazy schedule and she always finds a way to accommodate my appointments. I truly believe that if this is something that you desire to do and you really want to loose the weight. Try this program! I haven't gotten super fancy with meals. This place has changed my life!!! I knew something was off a year ago and had complete tests to check everything. I went on both the hormone and weight loss program and lost 40 lbs. I've been going to JumpstartMD for several months and have made significant progress - over 30 pounds. The staff is very friendly and takes time with you each appointment. The generally discuss any issues faced in the previous week as well as whether there are any challenges in the upcoming week and strategies to successfully meet them. I like the fact that there is a biweekly option - as long as I am doing well, I don't think I need to go every week, and I also like the fact that if I reach a point where I am having issues, there is another gear available to go to. The best thing about JumpStartMD is that it seems sustainable. I've tried a lot of different diets, but even if I was losing weight with them, most of them seemed to be unsustainable in the long run: I couldn't see myself following the diet forever. Although Jumpstart's diet severely restricts what you can have, especially carbs, it hasn't seemed that hard to follow for these months, and once you hit goal, some of that gets folded back into the diet. On most other diets, the idea of hitting my goal weight was more about being able to eat again rather than the satisfaction of success. With Jumpstart, I anticipate I will be able to continue following the diet while adding the additional foods to maintain my weight. read more

Avoid this company. Started with this company right after they bought Dr German's practice and nobody knew what they were doing. You would ask 5 different people the prices and you would get 5 different answers. You would ask for clarification on policies and no one could answer. Every follow up visit they sat there and asked questions from a script. Like all diets where you limit your intake and watch the foods that go in, it does work. I did lose the weight that I set out to however I am no longer a customer. I haven't been seen at Jumpstart for over two years and I am still getting notifications that payments have been made to my account. The first time it happened it was a year after leaving and when I called they said they audited my account and I didn't pay for a visit. Now do you think they would have given me the medication and left without paying? When I signed on, I paid everything with cash but then was told I needed to have a card on file. Ever since then they have taken it upon themselves to charge my account whenever they feel like it without warning. Which brings me to today, over 2 years removed from being a customer and received another email thanking me for my payment! How can this be??!! Don't want to close my credit card down just because this company can't get their shit together. It's a huge hassle. Better business bureau will also be notified as well as my bank. read more

I used JumpstartMD when they took over the practice from Dr. German. I wish he had not retired. I was on a great program with him and was losing a healthy amount of weight every week. It was a strict diet, but I needed that. Once they took over, I was told nothing would change on the program. Unfortunately everything changed. Prices changed, vitamin supplements changed, food/diets changed. Even they got rid of all of Dr. German's faithful, wondetful staff. You couldn't just walk in, you had to make appts. Hours constantly changed. My weight loss slowed tremendously, so I went on maintenance and gave up trying to lose the last 25 lbs. There was only 1 nurse I still liked seeing, but otherwise it wasn't the same super supportive office. Oh, and billing got screwed up several times and they insisted I owed hundreds of dollars. Had to show bank records before they finally figured out it was all their fault. Never again. read more
