Amazing view

Beautiful view from Jump Off Rock. It was a bit of a ride up through some beautiful neighborhoods. The roads are narrow and winding. We checked out the trails but they seem to be in disrepair. There was rebar sticking up dangerously in the walkway. So we didn't venture too far. Otherwise it was an amazing view of GA, NC, And SC .

We were staying in Hendersonville on a mission to learn more about my Revolutionary War ancestor Samuel King. Thanks to social media, we had connected with my distant cousin Gary King who showed us around the area that morning. In the afternoon, we got a call from Gary, inviting us to join him and his wife for a sunset concert at Jump Off Rock. We quickly accepted the chance to see a local event with a pair of insiders. While the band was setting up, we went to the edge and got a fabulous view of peak fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This became one of the memorable moments in our trip south.

What I love about Jump off Rock is that you don't have to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway to enjoy it. I get motion sick on a number of roads leading up to the BRP and get a bit freaked out on the parkway as well due to the cliffs. Compared to those drives, the trip up to Jump Off Rock was not bad at all! There are some sharp turns but you don't look over cliffs and there are also mirrors on trees at the turn and it enables you to see if there is oncoming traffic. When you get to the top, it's a very small park with a handful of benches and gorgeous views. There are a couple short ( 1/4 mile) trails that are well trodden and there is a sign showing the overview of where the trails go. One trail starts with steep stairs and the other is a gradual zig zag. We had an elderly dog with us so only went on the path to the right side (not the stairs) and decided to turn around after a few minutes because our boy was tired. If you are in average shape, you should be just fine. We were in the area to pick up some apples before the season ended and this was the perfect little detour from Freeman Orchards or the other orchards on Chimney Rock Rd in Hendersonville

There are some walking trails, I decided not to take a hike

Wow, what a drive! Super curvy and windy road, great views on the trip up...just don't take you eyes off the road or you're likely to drive down the mountain side! I was there before 10am and as I was pulling out FIVE cars were pulling in, definitely suggest going early AND not driving the road when it's dark

If you're afraid of heights, the ride up is a little scary, and even when you get here, but it's a really cool overlook. It's amazing how far you can see from up here. Lots of little benches and even a water spigot for the dogs to get a drink.

A beautiful drive with a little bit of windy roads lead you to this beautiful scenic view. The view overlooks Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina from a distance. There are a couple of trails you can take that are moderate in difficulty. As soon as you park you can walk to the overlook without hiking to it and it is a very short walk. There are benches available but no restrooms. No admission fee. It was quiet when we were there on a Tuesday morning.

This is a beautiful view and worth stopping by. There are some great little trails that are perfect for a short family hike. We did all of the trails with a 10, 8, and 5 year old and everyone made it and enjoyed it :) FYI - there are no restrooms or even an outhouse at the park or anywhere close by, so be sure to stop at a gas station before you head up the mountain! Also, it will be colder than you expect when you head up the mountain, so in spring or fall, be sure to pack a jacket!

This spot is a must see view. It has a breath taking view and is definitely a place for someone who doesn't really love hiking but wants a great experience. It has benches pretty far apart and several rocks below the main point you could sit at and possibly even have a little picnic. We did go in the trails but they were a little confusing and had trouble finding our way through them and the entrances. Either way they were very nice and I believe we tried the red and blue trails. Must go!!

This is a very tranquil spot to enjoy breathtaking scenery! I visited early AM while visiting Asheville area. The area was very well maintained. I noticed that there were a few paths/trails available to explore, but I didn't dare venture! There are also a few seating benches to sit and plenty of spots to make a picnic. I appreciated that there was a guardrail on certain areas as well. This place is a must-see, especially to catch a beautiful sunrise!

We enjoyed Jump Off Rock. This was something we saw advertised the first time we visited Hendersonville, so we knew we'd have to go back when we visited again. We went on a very cool November morning. The positive was that there weren't a lot of people there yet! There was a clear, blue sky, and it was perfect for seeing all the mountains from the look out point. There was a bench where we were able to soak in the view for a few minutes. We read the story of Jump Off Rock (very sad!), and then decided to hike some trails. Since it was fall, all the leaves had literally fallen off onto the trail, which made hiking the red and/or yellow trail nearly impossible. We doubled back and decided to hike the short, blue trail. Overall, this was a beautiful look out point, and I'm glad we went. FYI-the parking lot is very limited, like 10 spaces, so try to get there early. Also, there are no restrooms, so make sure you go beforehand!

Jump Off Rock is a scenic overlook in Hendersonville that provides a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Pisgah forest. The legend is that a Native American warrior and his love used to meet at this rock and when he was called to war, they agreed to meet at the rock after it was over. When the lover got word her warrior died in battle she went up to "their" rock and jumped off to her death. There is a fenced in overlook and a couple of benches as well. There are a few hiking trails, including a very easy 1 mile trail that loops around near the rock. It's very scenic and, I'd imagine, beautiful at sunset for a romantic evening. It was nice to pause here and take in the beauty of Western North Carolina! There is ample parking here but no restrooms so plan ahead.

A great place to see the sun setting over Mt. Pisgah. Although the actual park is rather small, the views are amazing. And, there are several easy trails to enjoy easy hiking. One added benefit is the temperature is always about 10° cooler than Hendersonville or Fletcher, which makes it wonderful on warm summer evenings. Parking is free, but limited. And, there are no restrooms.

Great view here

I was in town on business and spent a quick hour here to explore. Took a bit to get here through the winding neighborhoods but it was great. There are three trails with differing difficulty and average time to complete them. Just look at the sign and see what you think you'll like most. The observation deck is great to see all the greenery and landscape. Being up here makes you feel so small and there is something relaxing about that.

Really beautiful view. Out of the way park but worth the drive to see the fall foliage without the crowds

Need better directions. GPS lead us to a gated road with no instructions on accessing jump off rock.

Great place to go for photos and light hiking. There was left over snow so it was chilly. Enjoyed our time there.

Is jump off rock privet property ? I used my gps and I was at a gate or maybe it's closed due to COVID?

This past time, I needed the restroom and could not believe there weren't any bathrooms! I was desperate and asked several different people who pointed me in different directions to the parks associated with the trail. Each time, the bathrooms were locked. It was awful! I also didn't bring water, and that was a big mistake. I live in a place with trails like this that all have water fountains and restrooms, so I take it for granted that trails have facilities. This time I ended up going to a church and begging a woman to let me in...thankfully she did, but it was after being desperate for about 45 minutes. I would only return with an empty bladder and with my own water packs so as not to become dehydrated. Also, it could have been because it was the holidays (29 December 2022), but the trails were far less maintained this time. There was a lot of litter, signs of homeless encampments, and debris. At one point, the trail was not accessible due to ice and flooding but there was no sign indicating it was closed ahead. It's still a lovely greenway and has emergency pulls to use if needed.

Great place to walk and enjoy nature on a paved trail. End to end is about 4 miles, but there are…read moreopportunities to branch off onto dirt trails. We ya well maintained and perfectly safe for the whole family. There are areas that are prone to flooding, so be prepared during rain season.
