If there is one thing people take away from this review, it is that Julie is the BEST choice to go with when it comes to piano lessons! At the time we first came across Julie, my then 14-year-old brother had been interested in learning piano. I had reached to several music teachers in the area, and while most of them followed up with me, Julie was the one person who genuinely came across as her most authentic self when she said I could call her with any questions I had, which I did. She patiently addressed all my questions over the phone and made herself available for my parents (whom are native Spanish speakers but can get by with some conversational English) and my brother to check out her studio and answer their questions. It was the best decision we ever made. My brother is now 17-years-old and closing up his final year with Julie as he prepares to graduate from high school. Over the last 3 and a half years, Julie has helped my brother gain inspiration and confidence in himself. He was diagnosed with Autism at a young age but is high-functioning and asks a TON of questions, all of which Julie patiently answers for him. My brother really dedicates a great deal of time in mastering the piano and Julie is always more than happy to provide challenging pieces for him to work on. My family and I really enjoy working with her and she has always made herself available when we had to submit letters of recommendation for music scholarships and she truly cares about her students. read more

We've been with Ms Julie for a little over 2 years now and she is fantastic! My child did not have any previous music experience and Ms Julie is always very patient and kind. She takes time to help our child through tough parts of pieces, and always has great insight and suggestions to help our child understand musical concepts. Ms Julie is very flexible and accommodating with our schedule. When the pandemic surged, we needed to change our piano schedule due to work constraints / requirements and Ms Julie was able to shuffle around the schedule to let my child continue her lessons. Ms Julie is easily accessible for questions and concerns, as well as lesson format. During the pandemic, Ms Julie was able to quickly switch over to virtual lessons so our child could continue music lessons, and stay sane during the lockdown. I am amazed at the amount of ground we covered during the year of virtual lessons. We are very thankful to have found Ms Julie and we recommend her without any reservation. read more

Our child started taking piano lessons with Julie in August 2023. Julie has guided her through a bit of nervousness and now she truly loves playing piano. Julie recognizes that each child is different and with her experience, tailors her lessons to the child she is teaching. She is a great communicator and keeps the families updated with monthly newsletters. read more

My daughter Stephurie loved to play music since she was like 8, she has been to a music studio prior but when I discovered Ms. Julie in yelp and she has been her student since I couldn't exactly remember probably 2019, Stephurie has been more confident & would actually play for us over dinner. Ms. Julie is superb & my daughter adores her. Thank you Ms. Julie, you're an angel. read more

I don't recommend this woman at all. She is rude, disorganized and disrespectful. She has the bad habit to use the class time to do her chores and her cooking. She doesn't like to be contact by customers at times when she considered aren't business hours, which she never specified. Customers can't ask questions about services because she will go off on them. Never email or txt on weekends because "the lady" is busy and will get annoyed. Never again, Took my business somewhere, no thanks. read more

If you are looking for a piano teacher Julie is awesome!! She provides my daughter with lessons and both her and I love her!! My daughter was looking to take on a new activity and piano was it!!! I found Julie on Yelp and from the first time I spoke to her over the phone I already really liked her. I explained to Julie that this was my daughters first time playing and that she has not played an instrument. Julie was great at explaining things to me and helping us get setup. You can tell that her interest was in my daughters learning and not making money for herself. Before I took the step of ordering a keyboard she suggested that her and my daughter meet to make sure they mesh. Sure enough they did and when it came down to getting the keyboard Julie was on the phone with me as we shopped on Amazon together to order a keyboard and supplies. Classes are once a week for 30 minutes and the first lesson is an hour but charged for the 30 minutes only. She has a small place with a beautiful piano and some couches and activities to keep you entertained if you are staying to watch your child play. She has a set monthly rate that you pay at the beginning of the month and holds 3 recitals a year. My daughter is 11 and tells me she is really happy with Julie. She says that she goes at her pace and makes sure that she understands everything. She explains things well and writes a lot of notes and helpful tips for her use when practicing. My daughter will let me know in a heartbeat if she's not happy so it pleases me to know she is benefiting from her lessons!! So far everything is great and we really look forward to see how far our daughter will excel as time passes with having Julie as her instructor!! read more

My now 10 year old daughter has been a student of Miss Julie's since April 2019. My daughter had no previous experience but she now sounds so beautiful when she plays. Miss Julie takes the time to actually teach and engage with her students. She remembers birthdays, piano anniversaries and takes the time to work through learning difficulties. She is thoughtful and caring and truly wants to see her kids succeed! We couldn't be more happy with the choice to go with Carmona studios! read more

Ms.Julie is by far the best piano teacher that I have ever had. She is the most kind, patient, passionate, and compassionate person. She truly cares deeply about her students. I could not recommended Julie more. We have been going to her for a few years now, with both of our kids starting at age 6. She has been patient and pushed them when necessary. She is great at finding a balance between being fun and firm with the kids. They have excelled in their lessons. She is very responsive and easy to reach via email or phone. My husband is a musician and former music teacher. He found Julie and we haven't looked back. read more

Julie is awesome! My daughter has been taking lessons with her for about 2 years now (since she was 7) and she has learned so much! She can recognize notes by ear, read music, play songs, knows her chords and scales and loves playing! Many piano teachers push hardcore classical music at this age, however Julie is intuitive and caring enough to recognize my daughter's likes and strengths and chose to focus more on Jazz and Blues, which as been great. In addition to being a great teacher she's also a kind and caring person that my daughter feels completely comfortable with. Highly recommend! read more

Julie is a great teacher. Both of my kids take lessons from her. The thing I like most is that she is flexible about how she teaches each student. My son learns differently than my daughter and, therefore, the lesson plans are different for each of them. Julie is really great if you take the time to strategize about the goals for your lessons. I would definitely recommend her (and have) to anyone looking to learn piano (especially younger kids). read more

Ms. Julie is wonderful! My kids (ages 11 and 9) have been taking lessons with Ms. Julie for about 1 1/2 years. My kids have grown so much musically since their first lesson and she has done a great job of working with each of them at their own pace. She is very understanding and easily adapts to each child's individual learning style. Ms. Julie really wants her students to connect with the pieces they play, and as such, she allows them to be a part of the selection process for their recital pieces. For the winter recital, students do classical pieces, and for the spring recital, it's free choice and students can pick any song they love, which is super fun. It's nice for kids to have an opportunity to learn to play a song they know, love, and connect with! And the recitals are just lovely and a truly enjoyable experience for parents and kids. Ms. Julie is also very approachable and responds quickly to texts/emails. If there is anything you want to bring to her attention, she listens and is always willing to work with parents to provide the best possible learning environment for your child. I highly recommend Ms. Julie for piano lessons! read more

I'm a musician so I took finding a piano teacher for my daughter seriously. Julie's a perfect fit! It's been two years now she on to playing Beethoven, after playing the Beatles, and learning fast. Julie expects a lot, but she's not pushy or overbearing. She makes it fun. She also has great recitals at this really nice place, and the kids play on a Steinway. Having heard her other students, I'm excited about what mine's going to be able to do. read more

I started my piano lessons with Julie about a month ago and she's a wonderful teacher. I've never had any kind of musical lessons before and I'm starting waaaaaay later in my life. Julie's made me very comfortable and has an easy approach to teaching piano. The atmosphere in her studio is very relaxing and I like that she associates everything she talks about to her music. She has a great personality and is really passionate in what she does. I would recommend her to anyone needing lessons for adults or children. read more

A great teacher. Rather than blame the student for a "lack of talent" or "discipline," she works with the students to find how and through which means a connection to music can be made. She has a large and varied knowledge of music, from the Baroque (Bach) and romantics (Beethoven) all the way to the avant garde (Stravinsky's Rite of Spring) and Jazz (Joplin). This coupled with a clean, professional, and fully equipped(on a baby grand piano) lesson room allow for an environment conducive with learning. In sum, Julie will get through to you or your child. Ultimately, her lessons in music provide a auditory comprehension that corresponds to not only an aptitude in music but an ability to better comprehend complex undertones, patterns, and style. I know that through my lessons, I have gained skills that have helped me succeed as both an oncology researcher and doctoral student. read more

I have taken piano lessons from Ms. Julie for years. I can't even remember how long I've been with her, it's been that long. She is wonderful, wise, and extremely experienced in her line of work. Her talent never ceases to amaze me, and I can definitely say that she knows what she's doing. She has encouraged me with my songwriting and taught me things that no one else could. I could never have written and recorded my first single without her. Thank you, Ms. Julie! read more

while working on my senior project, I was out looking for piano instructors and I couldn't have found a better one then Ms. Julie. I was able to learn quite a bit within three months and I couldn't have done it without her. read more

I started with Julie a little less than a decade ago, and the moment she heard me play she knew I had the potential to do better. At the time I was using Alfred books but she took me off that track and set me on a course through baroque, classical, and romantic pieces I would enjoy for a lifetime. I've improved tremendously with her, and her patience when I struggled was amazing. One of the things I love about her teaching style is that she uses real life examples and analogies to convey how to play a song, or how to improve technique. She is willing to invest as much as you are, if not more, to ensure your success and improvement. A great teacher at all levels! read more

My daughter has been studying with Julie over a year and I can't imagine a better teacher. She is patient, yet pushes her when she needs to. One of my favorite things about her as a teacher is her understanding of how individual kids learn. She regularly notes things about my daughters learning process that I didn't see, then gives her specific instruction, or exercises, tailored to her. That's a rare, but huge gift in a teacher. read more

Words cannot express the valuable lessons our daughter received from Julie. Addie started lessons having very little experience. With Julie's coaching Addie began to play and sing almost immediately. I brought my 11 year old to Julie for piano lessons. He is and advanced child who is home schooled and needed a challenge. Julie challenges my son every week and holds him accountable for his practices and progress. She has a great insight as to how each child is and adjusts the lessons to their learning styles. She has multiple recitals throughout the year to showcase her students and finds other musical venues to expose our children to the wonderful world of music. She is a lovely person with a great heart and loves what she does!!!! read more
